New Beyond Blue E-mail Sign Up

posted by Beyond Blue | 11:08am Thursday August 23, 2007

Beliefnet has a cool new feature where you can sign up to receive a daily e-mail update from Beyond Blue. I have signed up for it: to remind myself what I wrote about, and to whom I owe apologies.
The sign up is in the lower part of the right-hand column of Beyond Blue, where it says “Subscribe.” There is a box, and under the RSS Feed stuff (which I’m trying to figure out but don’t really understand), a space provided for your e-mail. It says (verbatim): “Want to stay up-to-date on the latest posts from Beyond Blue? Sign up to receive a daily email update from blogger Therese Borchard. Enter your email address below, and click the “subscribe” button.
If you have trouble, I’m probably not going to be able to help you (because all computers I have worked on are females and prefer male brains), so I’ll have Eric shoot you back an e-mail with instructions. Good luck!

How Do You Heal Loneliness?
If I had to name the most common complaint I hear among depressives, it is that they are lonely. Just five minutes ago, I replied on a thread within Group Beyond Blue to a woman who started a thread called "Who Do I Turn To?" She wants so badly to connect with another woman--as the anchors in her li

Rewire Your Brain For Love: An Interview with Marsha Lucas, Ph.D.
In the spirit of Valentine's Day, I thought I’d feature an interview with a very cool licensed psychologist and neuropsychologist that I was lucky enough to meet in person at a book signing back in September. Marsha Lucas, Ph.D., has been practicing psychotherapy and studying the brain-behavior re

Love Deeply ...
Valentine's Day is a good time to remember all the ways we can be loving, not just to the guy/gal sitting across from you at the kitchen table, but also your boss, your mother, your boss's mother, and her mother. One of my very favorite reflections from Henri Nouwen is "Love Deeply," found in hi

Therapy Thursday: Sweat
I have decided to dedicate a post on Thursday to therapy, and offer you the many tips I have learned on the couch. They will be a good reminder for me, as well, of something small I can concentrate on. Many of them are published in my book, "The Pocket Therapist: An Emotional Survival Kit." Work

Scrupulosity: What It Is and Why It's Dangerous
If you sprinkle a hefty dose of Catholic (or Jewish) guilt unto a fragile biochemistry headed toward a severe mood disorder, you usually arrive at some kind of a religious nut. Not that there’s anything wrong with that! For I am one. I have said many places that growing up Catholic, for me, was

I have officially signed up today!!!
It just seems whatever I am needing to hear on a given day to help my emotional and mental state ends up in your daily blog and I am so thankful for that!
Also, I would like to let you know that I did take your advice about starting a Self-Esteem Folder. What a difference!!
My SEF is more of a box that holds 3×5 index cards. When I hear or read something that gives me that “feel good” feeling I write it down on a 3×5 card (will usually hold several “feel good” sentences) and file it in my box.
When I start feeling out of sorts, which can lead me into my depression, I start pulling cards up at random and think about what the saying means. I keep pulling cards until I finally find a quote that settles me down and relaxes me.
May times the little “quotes” Beleifnet includes on their newsletters end up in my index box.
Thank you so much for that suggestion and may your Higher Power keep guiding you in the right diretion.
Nancy
