In honor of National Breast Cancer Month, Beliefnet (actually, I think my editor, Holly, did it, but I’m probably not supposed to say who) compiled a beautiful gallery of prayers, mantras, and simple words of comfort for those who are living with cancer.

Therapy Thursday: Sweat
I have decided to dedicate a post on Thursday to therapy, and offer you the many tips I have learned on the couch. They will be a good reminder for me, as well, of something small I can concentrate on. Many of them are published in my book, "The Pocket Therapist: An Emotional Survival Kit." Work

Scrupulosity: What It Is and Why It's Dangerous
If you sprinkle a hefty dose of Catholic (or Jewish) guilt unto a fragile biochemistry headed toward a severe mood disorder, you usually arrive at some kind of a religious nut. Not that there’s anything wrong with that! For I am one. I have said many places that growing up Catholic, for me, was

The Treasures of Darkness
We often equate darkness with sorrow, misery, get-me-the-hell-out-of-here reaction. At least I do. That’s why I keep a mammoth Happy Lite on my smallish cubicle at work. But darkness can also be a treasure. Say what? J. R. Miller writes this in “From Streams in the Desert” by L. B. C

On Groundhog Day: 12 Winter Depression Busters
Last year on this day, I got fired. That was a real pleasant Groundhog Day. I was so confused by what had happened that I drove around the D.C. beltway twice. I missed my exit, and realized that halfway around the second time. I just thought on this day, you could probably use some winter depres

6 Ways to Stay Resilient in Stress
Writer Jennifer Yane once said, “I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days will attack me at once.” Admittedly, I spend too many days myself running from “the attacks of the calendars.” I am thinking that if I didn’t have so much stress in my life, I MIGHT be able to grab

I feel compelled to say this (for whatever it’s worth)
Cancer is produced by our own bodies, in an attempt to correct a problem. It is an overproduction of cells (a lot like a bruise) When something enters your body(either physical or mis-communication) two signals are immediately sent to your brain 1- Is it me? and 2- Is it not me? If it is read as “Not me” your body will immediately attack it (a lot of auto-immune disease, is your own body attacking itself) Your brain realizes that it needs sustanance to survive, and so it accepts things like food, and then converts it to the Me (or is that pro-verts?)
I almost died from a cholesterol problem. Cholesterol is what your body uses to repair damage (cell walls are composed of cholesterol) Trans-fat (anything hydrogenized) causes irritation in your blood stream and your brain sends cholesterol and calcium to correct it. Since we keep ingesting all this trans-crap, the cholesterol cannot correct the problem, and an overbundance collects in the walls of the artery (not in the artery)If it continues it will eventually burst. If it goes to your heart, you may have a heart attack and die. If it goes away from your heart, you may develop diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure, poor circulation, and any other number of maladies. If the bubble bursts on the outside, you will bleed out into your chest cavity and also die. I am the trans-fat generation, and have been eating that crap for most of my Life…You are far better off eating butter (what the hell makes us think that we can do it better than God ?)… Read the Labels … “Don’t eat anything man made ” (Jack La Lane-98)

Let me add this in. There are only 3 States in the good ol’ US of A that trans-fat is illegal in food. It appears to me, when the economy of our Nation is at stake, individual lives become expendable !
