December’s New Features

posted by Beyond Blue

I mentioned last week that I will be blogging about episodes of “Saving Grace.” I have two additional holiday features. For each day in December, I’ll provide a “Holiday Survival Thought,” just a fun way of reminding everyone (myself included) to not take themselves (or their families) too seriously this holiday season. And for each Monday of Advent, I will read a reflection from a spiritual master or saint, or something from scripture, as you look at my Advent wreath.

8 Ways to Overcome Envy
I know that the fastest way to despair is by comparing one's insides with another's outsides, and that Max Ehrmann, the author of the classic poem "Desiderata," was absolutely correct when he said that if you compare yourself with others you become either vain or bitter, or, as Helen Keller put it:

Therapy Notes: Forecast Some Backsliding
From my therapy notebook: The path to mental health is an uneven process: for every two steps forward, you move one and a half back. But if you know this before you start walking, you’ll be less tempted to throw up your arms at the first relapse and say “to hell with it!” My psychiatrist

I will be eagerly awaiting as well. Is it going to be necessary for our speakers to work in order to share your spiritual thoughts? (mine still don’t and my holiday finances preclude thethem being replaced any time soon!

Hey, Margaret! Mine don’t work either so I’ll have a lot of catching up to do when I get to a computer that does! Then again I have something to look forward to this Christmas (for a change) Oh, WHOOPS, did I whine a bit? Yeah I’m in the financial dumpster this year too. Who is’nt? Just remember it is’nt about the gift giving…I say that to ease my sense of guilt. Then promise myself to DO something about it AFTER the Holidays. That time period seems to get a little vaguer each year. Oh well I’m going to join the procrastinators club…tommorow!
