Among her quotes are these:

When I was depressed and I looked out my window, the landscape looked absolutely flat and colorless. As I began to feel better about myself and to experience my own beauty and worth this movement was mirrored in the way I saw the outside world. Now when I look out my window, I see depth and dimension and color that I never knew existed. Getting out from under depression literally changed my perspective on life. -A Survivor
The trauma of depression is devastating. Friends tell you to look up and see the sun and the trees. The depressed person is like Dante’s Prince of Darkness, encased in ice, in hell. When the reaction to the blows of life is depression, it is difficult to melt the ice and go with life. But if can be done, and once you are in the light again, life takes on a beauty you couldn’t have imagined before. -Antoinette Bosc
Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase. -Martin Luther King, Jr.

Brain hiccups. We all get a case of them now and then. For some they are fleeting and all a person has to do is to take a deep breath, visualize their departure, and poof! They’re gone. Not so easy for the rest of us. If I counted up the moments I spent trying to escape the broken record of my tho

Therapy Notes: Give Amy a Bottle
From my therapy notebook: I now know who to blame for my feelings of panic and anxiety … Amy. It’s all her fault. That’s what I call my amygdala, the delinquent cluster of neurons in the limbic system considered by most neurobiologists as the fear center of the human body, like the

8 Ways to Overcome Envy
I know that the fastest way to despair is by comparing one's insides with another's outsides, and that Max Ehrmann, the author of the classic poem "Desiderata," was absolutely correct when he said that if you compare yourself with others you become either vain or bitter, or, as Helen Keller put it:

Don’t mean to be a downer on an “encouragement” thread, but I was thinking of Martin Luther King’s “I have been to the mountaintop … I have seen the promised land” speech the day before he died in 1968 — after Benazir Bhutto’s assassination.
I can turn this into a positive, though. What King wrought, and Bhutto may yet bring to her native land, will echo for decades to come.
We don’t always know the little things we do that may make a big difference for other people. Like George Bailey in “IAWL” or “Six Degrees of Separation” or “Pay It Forward.”
I think Cheryl said it herself (and I’m going by memory) — we may think we are nobody, but we are everybody to somebody.
Happy New Year, all!

I say this a lot here at Beyond Blue “My Life is a love song, sung to me by God”, and one of the major reasons is a song by Joe Cocker. I do stand up God comedy, and I’ve said this here also “Nobody thinks God’s sense of humor is one dam bit funny, but God!” I usually end my routine, saying “Many times in this world, we feel that we just don’t measure up, we are alWays a little bit short of hitting the mark. We are not smart enough, or good looking enough, sucessfull enough…In spite of what we do in this world, or how and why we do it, there is someone out there, who continues to Love us, no matter what. Love us with Uncompromising, Unconditional Love ! At this point in my Life, I look at songs, as being to God or from God … all of them, and most of them are Love songs, and I think this song, can be seen as to God, but in particular, from God, and it says it all to me!” … and then I go into Cocker’s “You Are So Beautiful”

That’s what keeps me encouraged !
