Oh and she did, she did ... why men (and really, women too) will never forget "Some Like It Hot" and "The Seven-Year Itch" and all her other starring roles.

Goodbye, Norma Jean.

One of the true tragedies of the twentieth century, is Norma Jean's life and untimely death; another of our number who succumbed to the lure of the "snake pit" but who was also in a very real way seduced into its influence by those who supposedly loved and supported her.Sexuality aside, poor marilyn was one of those who, likeIMHO, Judy Garland never truly stood a chance because of the prejudices surrounding our common disease(Depression isn't good studio press, after all!)

I'll never forget Jack Lemmon's line in "Some Like It Hot" -- "She's like Jello on springs!"

Some women would take that as an insult in today's hard-bodied age. But for men who appreciate sensuality like that in our dear (and yes, depressed) Marilyn, a sexier description could not be imagined.

BTW, I in no way mean to disdain the fact Marilyn had an off-the-charts IQ -- which apparently drove Joe DiMaggio crazy despite his obvious love for her even beyond the grave, and is exemplified by her brilliant koan above. (Why else would she have married the intellectual/playwright Arthur Miller after divorcing Joltin' Joe?)

So sad that she never truly knew she was genuinely beloved, and not just lusted after.

I was told by someone who roomed with her as a suite mate that she was very nice. Sometimes the dimensions of a person are forgotten.
