Crossing 1,000!

posted by Beyond Blue | 10:00am Tuesday March 4, 2008

I suppose it’s a good thing that I’m OCD? Because Beyond Blue has just crossed the 1,000 mark! I remember when Amy Cunningham who wrote “Chattering Mind” crossed 1,000. I thought to myself, “Wow. She must have been writing for years.” And then, what do you know, I got a little coffee in my system and I was off and running, with lots of help from you guys, of course. Because many of the posts are filled with your insights, stories, and jokes (where do you think I get all the cartoons from?).
So to honor our 1,000 mark, I’m going to publish a few earlier posts that I like and aren’t featured on my main page.
My friend, Priscilla Warner, recently shared with me this quote from Martin Buber: “When two people relate to each other authentically and humanly, God is the electricity that surges between them.” I think that is certainly true of Beyond Blue.
Thanks for making it happen!

Therapy Thursday: Sweat
I have decided to dedicate a post on Thursday to therapy, and offer you the many tips I have learned on the couch. They will be a good reminder for me, as well, of something small I can concentrate on. Many of them are published in my book, "The Pocket Therapist: An Emotional Survival Kit." Work

Scrupulosity: What It Is and Why It's Dangerous
If you sprinkle a hefty dose of Catholic (or Jewish) guilt unto a fragile biochemistry headed toward a severe mood disorder, you usually arrive at some kind of a religious nut. Not that there’s anything wrong with that! For I am one. I have said many places that growing up Catholic, for me, was

The Treasures of Darkness
We often equate darkness with sorrow, misery, get-me-the-hell-out-of-here reaction. At least I do. That’s why I keep a mammoth Happy Lite on my smallish cubicle at work. But darkness can also be a treasure. Say what? J. R. Miller writes this in “From Streams in the Desert” by L. B. C

On Groundhog Day: 12 Winter Depression Busters
Last year on this day, I got fired. That was a real pleasant Groundhog Day. I was so confused by what had happened that I drove around the D.C. beltway twice. I missed my exit, and realized that halfway around the second time. I just thought on this day, you could probably use some winter depres

6 Ways to Stay Resilient in Stress
Writer Jennifer Yane once said, “I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days will attack me at once.” Admittedly, I spend too many days myself running from “the attacks of the calendars.” I am thinking that if I didn’t have so much stress in my life, I MIGHT be able to grab

Therese, I feel like I have known you for years not months. Everyone who reads this knows how it feels to be classified, chronic depressive, etc. I can’t have a conversation with my adult children about “my feelings.” They can’t listen & be encouraging; they are so criticil of me. I believe I was a very good Mom; thru many years when money was low.
They will not be of great help when I cross that bridge into “needs assist living.”
Now, I have been working “Letting It Go.” I must admit that it works. If grandkids need a sitter, I will receive a call. After 1 or 2 others couldn’t help. I used to have “the right of 1st refusal”. But I let it go……………………still working on that.

Rod Dreher was just bragging about hitting 3,000 blog posts on Bnet today. But then, he always was a bully.
