As a new mom who suffered from a severe case of PPD, I can say that your post on PPD was spot on. It took nine months before I felt "normal" (whatever that is!) and the experience strained myself, my husband, and our families tremendously. All I can stress is that nobody should be afraid to seek help, whatever is needed. In my case, I needed to have an adult stay with me and my daughter; I was terrified that the baby would die. She grew to be a perfectly fine young woman(in spite of my fears!) and I learned that my early fears were groundless. Thank you for giving accurate and helpful information.

Thank you for exposing how common postpartum depression is, the symptoms, and lessening the stigma.

One thing that needs airing in depression during pregnancy. I had the same symptoms as postpartum depression and felt guilty, restless, had suicidal thoughts. It's not politically correct to be pregnant and ambivalent. You are supposed to be happy and glowing. The hormones are shifting during pregnancy, too.

Doctors are finally recognizing Pre partum depression as a real and prevalent illness Check with a psychiatrist before taking any meds. I wish that I had known about this disease fifteen years ago.

Maybe you could write an article about it.
I love your work.

Thank you so much for this..I suffered from intrusive thoughts a day after my baby girl was born...it is the most horrifying thing a mother could go through.. I DID NOT know it was part of post partum depression..I think it needs to get out there that the intrusive thoughts are part of it..I felt so ashamed and thought they were going to take my baby away...I did get help. I am taking the anxiety medication called Paxil. I also read that taking Omega 3 6 9 helps, so I am taking them. I RARELY get the ITs anymore and when I do, I can easily get passed them. THANK GOD! My baby girl is 4 months old today!

It is SO important to get the message to every expectant mother. Pre and postpartum depression can be debilitating, bewildering, and scary. Not only for you but for your whole family. The more we speak out about our own experiences, the more women will understand that treatment is no different than taking insulin for diabetes. It is a medically treatable illness, not many of us would not take insulin if it meant we would live a better life, why delay treatment of PPD? Thankfully, so many women are choosing to discuss their own problems and treatment publicly. Keep up the great work!

Hanna whom was a herbaligist, healer, nurse, had a person show her how to get ridd of postpartum blues.
She said it was because there is a nerve pinching on the back after
delivery of baby, because the bones didn't go back into original place
and to correct it she would teach the husband to have wife sit on a counter, the man holds around the womans hips, lifts her a few inches off the counter and drops her on counter. This puts the bones back into place. Hanna is no longer with us and her daughter now runs her business, plus her Herb Shop is still in business. I can give you names of people whom worked with her and maybe her daughter knows of this treatment.
My daughter had this done after her baby, whom is now 26 years old. She was very depressed and after one session she wAs back to normal, I seen her work on others also.
Please let me know if you are interested in this ,I feel it is of great importance as I seen it work and some Chiropractors may know of this as from what I remember that is who taught her.
Thank You, Dina

Being able to control depression can be a life saver. It happened to me
after my second child. It can be a struggle for many mothers. See the
signs and be aware of who need help.
We should know more about post traumatic stress. So anyone will have
the understanding of what it can do.
