I admit upfront that I was a little jealous of Janice when she started her "Our Lady of Weight Loss" blog because I had to share my editor, Holly, with her ... and, well, I felt like the older sister who didn't want to share mommy with anyone ... even if she was cute and smart and liked Gerber carrots. But I got over it soon enough when I met Janice in person at the Beliefnet offices and interviewed her. It turns out we have much in common, and I think her insight on emotional eating is of real value to us at Beyond Blue.

Thank you, Therese and Janice. Such powerful thoughts -- enjoying your poignancy and "all is forgiven." Obesity and overeating have been my main depression-related struggles in life.

Does anyone out there eat afte they wake up in the middle of the night, at least two times? THAT is what makes me feel like a "failure.>
Re: Cameron2761, Hell yeah! If you're a failure pal move over and share the spotlight will ya? Food is NOT my friend, but a reasonable facsimile. The good news? There's always tommorrow night. As the saying goes...it does'nt matter how many times you fall...only how many times you get back up. You have to give yourself permission to screw up now and then. You're hungry for something better than food. Only you hold the key. Self awareness is step one. Hang in there!
The bottom line for me is that food, especially sweets have always made me "feel" better. I am now 55 and once again fat. This time I am going to conciously make better choices healthwise and do more physical anything every day. And if I have to do it one minute at a time, I will!!!! I have absolutely ruined my bodys' appearance. Another consequence of whatever has plagued me all these years. Shoot! Here's to everyone who knows what I'm talking about...
