Wednesday December 3, 2008

Make sure to stock your freezer full of dark chocolate: it's better frozen and it makes a wonderful substitute for sex....

Ho ho ho! I read your BeliefNet article of 9 tips to cope with holiday depression. I suspect the Holiday Survival thoughts are equally apropos!

I have a great place only one mile down the road from me - "Mindy's Munchies" - the BEST dark chocolate covered strawberries. Steve gets me a dozen at a time, and yes, I think he also thinks they're a great substitute for sex. He's obviously not where Eric is on Monday and Thursdays, nor does he ask for it. Either he and I are getting old, sick and worn out from life, or we have major marriage "issues". I'll go along with the first group of possibilites. For everything there is a season, turn, turn, turn,....... He'd be sooooooo thrilled with me for posting this!! and my kids would be totally grossed out.

sex, what's that? :)

I'm abstaining from both right now, so the advice is irrelevant to me. (Sigh.)

But methinks Eric would disagree with you ;-P

Therese,
speaking as one who hs just finished almost eleven years of celibacy (due primarily to divorce and a reblossoming of my youthful "prudishness as a result) there is NO substitute for sex...and if there was it would be MILK chocolare, not dark (IMHO The chocoate has its value of course, but it can'r snuggle with you during the night(Thank GOD; think of the mess!) or look into your eyes with love and dsire (real or feigned) The experience is much shorter lived with chocolate as well. and believe it or not, this is coming directly from a certified "chocoholic"! I'll have lots of chocolate on hand for the holidays, but it won't scratch that itch I'm starting to feel...it would take a living breathing partner to do that!

Oh, yea. Dark chocolate miniature M & M's, Hershey's dark or extra dark stick (only 60 calories), or miniature dark chocolate Dove candbards......Um Um !!!

Have a few before the deed... :) :)

I have to admit that I am also a chocoholic, but I don't eat it to drown my dis-pair, but to reward myself (as much as I can too!) Listen, here's a tip, and I hate to spread this around too much, or the chocolate companies will catch on like the oil companies! If you buy chocolate in the chip form, you will save a fortune! Like anywhere from a $1.50 to $2.50 a pound, instead of $5.50 to $23.50 a pound! Your paying for all the packaging moulding and advertising (none of which you can eat BTW!) Here's another tip from Jack La Lane (98) "Don't eat anything man-made!" Chocolate is a natural food product, it's what they do to it that makes it bad (you can make your own mix by the Way, so you know what's in it!)... Oh yeah! You can also mould it yourself into all kinds of appetizing shapes for the holidays, and in all kinds of colors too! Now there's a Christmas card you can really sit down with and digestwith Love in a Christmas Spirit!

Cully:Perhaps you misunderstood the context of my comments; i'm struggling through finishing eleven years of celibacy, so it's been a long time since I was a "naughty girl" Just for the record, I said NOTHING about liking younger menl all of my partners in life save one have been close to my own age and that one was actually fourteen teats older! after rereading this, let me claridy that it's not like I've had all that many partners, either; I'm basically a one-man-woman by nature!

Eat the chocolate, burn the calories off with sex. Seems they balance each other out.
