I've just discovered your blog....I'm recovering from my first relapse (I thought this depression/anxiety thing was a one-shot deal due to my divorce....I forgot about all those genetics and my mom's successful lifelong struggle :)). I just wanted to thank you for today's post. I thought I was the only one struggling today, feeling disconnected, anxious and wondering what happened to all that holiday relaxation.

Thank you, and I look forward to continued reading!

My new favorite color is pink (I hated it before), my meds are good (I lost 2 pants sizes since changed), and this blog and my AA meetings are keeping me sane this winter. Good luck to all this winter.

Fabulous post, for what was an unusually stressful First Monday for me. Like the bright colors advice especially!

...I would add just one other piece of advice to make a baker's dozen, which is to have a 10 or 15 minute period of guided meditation, using one of the many discs that are available for this purpose, including one on this very site.

I headed South to Florida -- for good. Where you can take miles-long walks that make you sweat in January -- without a treadmill.

(Sorry I'm still gloating.)

Great post, especially like your points about challenging yourself, taking up a project and hanging out with friends - which could be merged into one fun activity. However, the point being it is so easy to just sit at home on your own alone but getting out and doing something can be so much rewarding and healthy!
