Therapy Notes: Give Amy a Bottle
From my therapy notebook: I now know who to blame for my feelings of panic and anxiety … Amy. It’s all her fault. That’s what I call my amygdala, the delinquent cluster of neurons in the limbic system considered by most neurobiologists as the fear center of the human body, like the

8 Ways to Overcome Envy
I know that the fastest way to despair is by comparing one's insides with another's outsides, and that Max Ehrmann, the author of the classic poem "Desiderata," was absolutely correct when he said that if you compare yourself with others you become either vain or bitter, or, as Helen Keller put it:

Therapy Notes: Forecast Some Backsliding
From my therapy notebook: The path to mental health is an uneven process: for every two steps forward, you move one and a half back. But if you know this before you start walking, you’ll be less tempted to throw up your arms at the first relapse and say “to hell with it!” My psychiatrist

Some Quotes on Solitude and Self-Nurturing I Like
At the still point of the turning world. Neither flesh or fleshless; Neither from nor towards; at the still point, there the dance is, But neither arrest nor movement. And do not call it fixity, Where past and future are gathered. Neither movement from nor towards, Neither ascent nor decline. Ex

My mother-in-law lives near some famous fruitcake factory. One of her sons asks that she send him fruitcake for Christmas. The others ask that she NOT send them fruitcake for Christmas. It works well for all.

I’ve struggled with that issue my entire life. I don’t think it’s funny at all. It makes fun of people who are hurting.

Re; Jane, December 17,12:15 PM
Are you new to B.B? If so, you need to know that our beloved therese, who so painstakingly chooses our cobtent each day has a…shall we say, un “somewhat skewed sense of humor”. In spite of how it may seem, Therese would NEVER make fun of someone who is hurting; she’s BEEN there too! the bottom line, IMHO,is that (And we had this dialogue not long ago in terms of using words like “Crazy” those of us who have lived through the battles of mental illness have earned the right to poke fun at ourselves Trust me, Therese defines herself as “a holy whack job’ for a reason, and she knows only too well how it feels to suffer from the “Nobody likes me, everybody hates me, guess I’ll eat some worms.” mentality. Just so you know, she’s a twin who spent her teenage years feeling like the popular kids only befriended her to get through her to her “beautiful(Therese’s description) twin sister and thus felt like a social outcast. she continues at times to suffer from bouts of that even today.

“Twin Sister” ? Is that the person you see in the mirror or the other one? Mirrors, are a funny thing, they are the opposite of what you really look like. That’s why your picture, never looks like you! If you look at in a mirror, it looks just like you ! (go figure!)
And “Fruit Cake” … how about “Nut Cake” (I like Jack Daniels Burbon/Whiskey Cake and Rum cake too!) My ex-boss used to give the whole company fruit cake for Christmas (the kind with almost no cake) Nobody ever ate it, some used it to level furniture! We often discussed getting it all together for ten years and give it all back to him in a big box with a red ribbon on it!

Seeing that cartoon…think I am going to send all my family and friends to see a shrink.
If all the other people were on medication I wouldn’t need it because then I would be sane.

Think this is still funny. I’ve “re-gifted” fruitcake many times over the years, ha. I do feel empathy for Jane, and hopefully over the last year she’s found a sight more suited to her needs.
