While we are on the topic of mental health advocacy, I wanted to share the meaningful e-mail I received from Randy, the compassionate guy who made a video of my “dream,” described on the post, “I, Too, Have a Dream.” I had no idea the dream of mine had traveled outside of the US! He wrote:
I thought you may be interested in where your words have gone.
Here’s your statistics:
Countries: United States, Ghana, Kenya, Saint Lucia, Canada, Phillippines, Bangladesh, Australia, Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Pakistan
Gender: 67% Female 33%Male – Currently more Males are watching
Age Ranges: 45-54 49% 55-65 34% 33-44 8%
However, you have been listened to by people the age of 13 – 65+One person, such as yourself, CAN and have changed the world.
I can’t wait for the next person to bring me another powerful blog.
The compassionate guy,
Randy

You may want to remember Helen Keller’s words (though I’ve mis-remembered ALL of them): “I am one; but I am one, and I can do something; not all, but something.” If we ALL make an effort to reach out and touch another life, who knows where that touch will lead?? Of course, you, Therese, have an audience of MILLIONS
, and your words have a way of traveling all over the world. I do it with blogging on Dave Oliver’s BipolarCentral.com, of which I’m a moderator.
I have bipolar, and reading other blogs from people in the same situation I’m in, is an education. Sometimes, someone helps ME, and sometimes I’m able to help someone else. I kept a woman in New Zealand from taking her life, simply by emailing her to wait another day, when she would see her psychiatrist. This was AWESOME to me.
So – put this in your “Self Esteem” file; you DO make a difference!!!
