Barbara’s Angel Story

posted by Beyond Blue | 9:00am Thursday June 11, 2009

Awhile back, I included a Beliefnet interview with Joan Wester Anderson as a second post after my video on guardian angels. On the message board of that interview, Beyond Blue reader Barbara shared this story:

I don’t know why things happen as they do, but I do know when I am in control and when something/someone else is.

Example: My son and I were very poor, and we were just sitting and relaxing. Our joke was always, “if we ever get extra money, we will go shopping at the mall.” Well, no extra money, no mall.

On this relaxing day, I suddenly knew I was to head toward the mall. “Come on, we must go to the mall.” My son never questioned my actions, so into the car and toward the mall.

As I approached a yellow light, which I usually run, I saw a rag.

“Look at the rag in the street,” I said.

The light was about to change, and I saw that the rag was a child. I jumped out of the car, and ran to the child. I took a second to decide what to do: it is a criminal offense if I hurt the child in trying to help him.

Then, without waiting, I picked the child up just as the cars were coming at us, and went to the sidewalk. The child was unconscious.

Soon the parents came. The child had fallen out of their car and they didn’t miss him for awhile.

They called an ambulance, and my son and I returned.

I knew in my heart that we were never to go to the mall. We were to be at that light just before red turned to green and the cars crushed the child.

His angel was on duty, I have no doubt in this at all. This was out of my character, so it was not anything that could be explained away with something I do on a normal basis.

Dear BB friends,
I need prayers right now when you read this. I have been wrestling with severe depression over the past few weeks, and feel like I am collapsing. I have contacted my counselor and some other people who pray for me, but I need your prayers, too. I don’t know what the root is that is causing so much pain right now, but it is getting to be more than i can bear.

Dear Babs, I have been struggling the last few weeks, too. I can’t figure it out either, but please know that we care about you and appreciate you as part of our BB family. I was going to say the same thing as Margaret. “Hang in there.” We are praying for you. Hold on for one more day at a time and.remember, it’s the illness that is pointing you in the life sucks direction. It’s the illness that is making you feel hopeless and overwhelmed with pain. It’s the illness. when I finally got to my therapist’s offuce, she sent me to my md for a meds adjustment. We tweaked them just a llittle and I’ve been able to take a step back from the edge of the cliff. i know the last think you might want to do is do something because the grief we feel due to this illness is sometimes paralyzing. While you are there, we are all around you praying for you to feel peace and comfort in your heart. One of my friends sent me a story awhile back that said ” As you walk through the valley, we will be cheering you on from the mountain tops, waiting for you with open arms to join us so we can carry each other forward.” Your words have comforted me when I have been slipping down the slope. I’m holding your hand from here, friend. xo

THAT IS WHY YOU MUST TRY ALWAYS TO FOLLOW WHAT THAT VOICE WHICH IS THE HOLY SPIRIT TELLS YOU TO DO EVEN WHEN IT MAKES NO SENSE TO YOU. HAVE YOU EVER DONE WHAT THE VOICE SAID AND THEN SAW NO RESULT. WELL MAYBE WHAT YOU DID OR DID NOT DO EFFECTED SOMEONE ELSE IE THE SPIRIT TELLS YOU TO AVOID A STREET THAT YOU ALWAYS GO DOWN, YOU DID WHAT YOU ARE TOLD AND SEE NOTHING HAPPENING. WELL MAYBE YOU NOT BEING THERE AT THAT PRECISE TIME PREVENTED AN ACCIDENT FROM OCCURRING OR SOMETHING. JUST LIKE THE OLD SONG SAID ‘YOU’RE SO VAIN YOU PROBABLY THINK THIS SONG ( IS ABOUT YOU DON’T YOU DON’T YOU.’ WELL IT IS THE SAME FOR BLESSINGS SO DON’T BE SO VAIN PEOPLE EVERY BLESSING IS NOT NECESSARILY ABOUT YOU!

1 1/2years ago…I saw a neighbor’s lawn angel. It was very neglected and dirty. I asked if I could take it and clean it, then I would someday give it back. After cleaning her(Angel), I gave her some color by painting her. My neighbor had forgotten all about the angel. A 1 1/2 year later…I presented her with my greatest work, yet. She cried. My mother is my inspiration. She died in April. Then I lost my inspiration. It was quite difficult to finish. I cried those last 5 months, everytime that I would paint, because she wouldn’t be there to see it finished. Christmas Eve…she (angel)
got finished, with many tears running down my cheek. It was really strange. A breeze came over my cheek, as if, my mother was saying: “Job well done, honey”.

I have to mention that I was in the same situation at the time that I read it and waw a few days later I received a credit card and that helped me pay my things and have a nice christmas for my children
That showed me that Angels exsist and that no matter in what situation we are in they are always there to listen to our prayers
Bless it be Grace

Therese I really understand what happened, I get these impulses too in a lesser way. You did what you had to do, you were wise in listening to your intuition. You have been blessed with saving the life of a young child. Yet you have not got a reward in the form of what you and your son need financially.
I would suggest that yes Angels and spirits are there, and it is a spiritual gift that you received. But I myself would not tie it in with any special religious belief, okay.
Blessings.

Barbara, the Angel that saved ‘that red rag’you are part of God’s band of Angels who come ‘out of nowhere’ to save our precious children. How many times have you heard of ‘angels’ coming out of nowhere steping in to perform CPI to bring a drowning child back to life and then amongst all the hysteria leave the scene quietly after their work is done – its always one person, an off duty nurse, off duty policeman, etc. God and his Angels do an amazing job.

Thank you for listening to your inner spirit. I too am a single mom with a son and we joke about “when we have some extra money” as well! I have been blessed so much and I know that He watches over our lives and provides all of our needs. I’ve said a special prayer for you and know that you and your son will be blessed in a special way. Take care of yourself and keep your faith strong!

I do like this story and the connection to a spiritual power of GOD, but i do question things- because I like to know why things are the way they are. I do question GOD alot, because I want to understand him more.
His reasons for things and the connection for the good things in life. It makes me understand life more, otherwise i would go insane if i didnt question GOD. When i see things come for the good in my vision that is, I see GOD WORK HIS MIRACLES, when I SEE THINGS GO WRONG I DON’T SEE IT AS THAT- and I DON’T UNDERSTAND IT. I TRY TOO- TO LET IT BE, IF IT FEELS WRONG AND WORKS OUT WRONG.
I felt so many wrong things in my life, I felt evil and felt BEAUTY AND THE LOVE OF GOD AND THATS SO WONDERFUL. But i have my own TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS AND CROSS ROADS IN MY LIFE THAT IS OFTEN MIND BOGGLING AND BIZARRE TURN OF EVENTS- THAT I SEE ITS SPIRITUAL WARFAR FOR MY SOUL. SO MANY UNEXPLAINABLE CHAIN OF EVENTS THAT HAVE BEEN DESTRUCTIVE IN MY CAREER AND LOVE LIFE
OVER THE YEARS. ITS LIKE THE WORLD HAS TOTALLY GONE INSANE AND RUN BY THE DEVIL, AND IM LIKE ONE OF THE LAST GOOD CHRISTIAN LEFT ON THE EARTH TO WATCH OTHERS SUCCESSES & HAPPINESSES.
HEY I MAYBE CLOSER TO THE TRUTH THAN I REALIZE, AND I DO THINK WE ARE IN THE END TIMES. THE WORLD IS SO MESSED UP RIGHT NOW EVEN WITH OUR GOOD PRESIDENT IN THE WHITE HOUSE. HE SEEMS OKAY- BUT WHO KNOWS WHAT IS TO HAPPEN IN THE YEARS AHEAD. GREED CORRUPTION- EVIL WAR DISCRIMNATION SEPERATISM JUDGEMENTALISM FAVORITISM-LIES AND MORE LIES SURROUND US.
I WILL ADD MY VOICE TO MY LIFES MISSION STATEMENT, I DONT WANT TO BE LIKE EVERYONE ELSE- I HAVE A LOVE AND PASSION AND ITS MY VISIONARY CREED: ” i love women- peace- the arts the nature of things with a passion without reservations”…
LOVE AND PEACE TO ALL: IM HANGING IN THERE FOR MY REASON AND LIFES PURPOSE HERE ON EARTH
