When my beautiful bi-polar daughter isn’t doing well I start my prayers with Judith 9:11b-12.
But you are the God of the lowly, helper of the oppressed, upholder of the weak, protector of the forsaken, savior of those without hope. Please, please, God of my father, God the the heritage of Israel, Lord of heaven and earth, Creator of the waters, King of all your creation, hear my prayer!

Those are so awesome, Therese. I had forgotten John 14:27…I love that one.
I’ve heard them all before, especially Corinthians at weddings.
And one thing about Corinthians that I try to remind my newly married friends is that love is all those things, but people sometimes are not– because the love as mentioned in Corinthians implies some pretty lofty expectations on people.
Love is all those things: patient, kind, without envy. And newlyweds/brides-to-be love to talk about love–focusing on scripture with the word ‘love’ in it. But the key to that piece is really the last three lines about growing up, not behaving like a child with petty resentments and holding on to pain, not acting out or throwing tantrums, and instead using love as a tool that is the most important.
Love is patient. Sometimes people aren’t. Love is kind. Sometimes people aren’t.
Realizing that distinction…that’s the grown up part.
It’s ok to say, “I love you, but I don’t like you a lot right now.”
It’s ok to say how you want to be loved, what your parameters and expectations are.
Because love is all those things, but love–and the one you love–is not a mind-reader.

May I add my choice: Ephesians 4:1-3, “I therefore a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility, and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of Peace.”
Living in this manner, you will enjoy a better, healthier and spiritually more prosperous life, I know I have.

Where’s the love for Jeremiah 29:11 (“For I have plans for you”), 2 Corinithians 12:7-10 (the thorn in Paul’s side), or 1 John 4:7-12 (God is love)?

I had forgotten Corinthians…we said our vows 18 years ago and with my diagnosis of bi-polar, ocd, & ptsd, I still do not have to wonder if he would have said them as calmly. He reads and tries so hard to understand. Such an angel.
Thank you for the prayers…they are badly needed. My beautiful phsycologist of 6 years is dying of breast cancer, one of my very best friends of stomach cancer and all I can do is pray. I started spinning, as we do, and stopped and realized Its not my job to worry, God will take care of them.I can only love them and spend time with them. The prayers will keep me grounded…calm. Im sure God will give me new “rocks”, people who are my foundation of support when my beloved friends have gone on to look over us all.

What a wonderful reminder of mny of my OWN favorite scriptues.
The 23rd Psalm has been evenmore precious to me after reading a commentary on it by a shepherd who annalyzes verse by verse the painstaking care a shepherd performs for his sheep. For example: “He leadeth me by the still waters” according to this shepherd, sheep will not drink from moving water because they know that if their wool gets wet it will pull them under to drown. Therfore, still waters are a fundamental need of a flock of sheep. Shepherds also annoint the heads of their sheep with oil to keep nsects from burrowing into their flesh and infecting them with disease. Shepherds call the high pasture grounds to which they move their flocks during summer as ‘tables” and they always go their before their flocks to “prepare the table for the sheeps’ grazing, including chasing off the sheeps’ natural enemy on these tables, the wolves! Gives new meaning, no?

I bought a wooden sign of the Psalm 46 and put wrapping paper on it and hung it up a few weeks before Easter as a gift to DH…in hopes that he would sit still..didn’t work so much, but it’s a cool sign.
This summer I was trying to keep my 18 month old neice still and was laying on the floor having a tea party with her and could see it upside down and kept begging them (my kids and her) to follow the sign…”but Jesus says we should park it right here” I’d say. I’d guess it was 10 a.m. or so…it was a nice 30 minutes now that I think about it…. : )
I’d never read that detail about the wings of God…that should have been in the song Be Not Afraid..these are the best words of that passage: “he will COVER you with his feathers” …wow…that’s soft…rare image from the ole’ OT.

A personal favorite of mine – Have no anxiety about anything, but to everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds on Christ Jesus. Phillipians 4:6-7
When God tells me not to have anxiety I try really hard to obey. That’s not always easy. But I take this scripture to heart; the peace of God ‘which passes all understanding’ – how divinely calming and encouraging that is. That literally has been an anchor yanking on me to come out of the mind spinning emotions of anxiety and fear.

These are all wonderful as is the entire Bible.My favorite is Galatians 3:20.It gives me strength and guidance daily

My just 4 year old granddaughter Shelly is dying of cancer, they have done all they can for her, and the cancer is still there. Please pray for the mircle we need. Thank you

I met a man on line. We fell in love , spent 6 months together each day on video……….the day before he was to board his plane, his Dr gave him devastating news. He has always had a blood desease, but it has become very active..growing tumors and cysts.(beta thalisseymia).The health care he will need will be $110,000.00 in the usa for a year..In Endgland it is free……..So he will never come..The worst is he has stopped talking to me, won’t answer emails or his telephone….I am devastated……….please pray that he is healed and that he will contact me..just to ease my broken heart……..S.J.

this is a scripture that has helped me a lot when I am depressed

Be strong and Courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the lord your god will be with you wherever you go.
That right there , let’s me know whatever obstacles come my way, i know God and my lord & savior jesus christ is right by side in walk, strenght, faith & prayer. Amen…

I read these beautiful scripture verses the first thing this morning. Thank you! Psalm 23 is my favorite; in a time of much unhappiness I memorized it and found it a real consolation.

Dear Connie; I, too, desire prayer for my grand daughter. She is the mother of three, ages 8, 10, 12. She is having her second surgery for cancer on Sept. 5th. Her thyroid gland was removed 10 months ago and a cancer was detected on the right side of her throat, near where the original cancer was located. I pray for full healing for her to be able to raise her children. I also want prayer for her marriage. She and her husband are constantly yelling and screaming at each other, so much so that the oldest child is having crying spells and doesn’t want to go to school. The two youngest are able to withdraw and go to their rooms when the arguing starts. This oldest child is very sensitive to the situation and it hurts deeply. He wants to leave home and go to live with his grandparents. this is not acceptable to the parents. THis family needs God’s mercy and compassion in every area and I know God is able to bring rsspite and comfort to the whole situation. My daughter also is caught up in this and is suffering from a skin rash that is terrible. Pray for this couple to find the love and concern that they once had and for healing for them all.

Several years ago, I felt God wanted me to take a Bible lesson into the ladies at the Correctional Center in our town. I had never done anything like that before and did not have any idea of the Love of God that would wash over me, for those ladies. Never in my life have I felt God’s Presence like I did in that sad, lonely, forgotten prison. I realized from Day One that God just needs someone willing to go, and He will bless the effort. But shortly into my first year, a change in Administration was threatening my being able to continue my weekly visits into the Pod. I was disheartened but continuing to struggle to keep the door of the Prison open to God’s Love, but one morning I was so discouraged and just felt like giving up. I was questioning if God had really wanted me to go there at all, since it didn’t seem to be possible to keep up the good work He had me start there. I told God, ‘If you want me to keep fighting to go to that prison, You’re going to have to help me — I can’t fight them any longer on my own. If I can’t feel something from You that gives me hope, then I’m going to assume You’re ready for me to quit.’
I sat down in my porch swing and opened my Bible. I never read for inspiration from Revelation, so I’ll never know why I seemed to immediately turn there, but here is the verse God gave me that morning: “He opens doors, and no one can shut them; he shuts doors, and no once can open them. I know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can shut.” Revelation 3:7,8
I stayed at that Prison for as long as I lived in that town — I was so well accepted that after years of weekly visits, I was allowed access on Christmas and Thanksgiving days, and I was allowed to take in music (which really touched hearts), and my son was even allowed to accompany me to play the guitar and sing.
When God opens doors, not even the Director of the Prison or all of his staff could shut that door.

I love to read scripture verses on the computer. The ones presented are so helpful and really gives me peace-comfort in all things. Thank you thank you thank you.

Thank you immensely for these verses. Don’t you think Jn3:16 should be included? Also many leaders have used your first entry Prov. 3 to justify their violations of God’s commands or appease to such violations by others. The Christian doctrine is exactly that we shall neither kill, hate, hurt nor tear down. All times for the believer is time to produce fruits of the spirit love, joy… as is stated in Galatian 5:22-23. Your first entry then becomes in my view a faithless persons creed against which all the scripture is written. There is no doubt we will witness times of real evil in the world alternating with times of righteousness until all receive the Good News and are born again into an era of true faith and worship in righteousness in accordance with Rev21:1-6. These are all my faves also, but I would add one more: Jeremiah 29:11-13 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

In Timothy it says: God does not give me a spirit of fear but of POWER, LOVE and a SOUND MIND. Thanks, God, for the things that you do give me!

I really apppreciate these scriptures and comments. I have felt quite discouraged by my life at this point but I am determined and have all faith in God He will work it aout for the good who love the Lord. And I love HIM so much.
