You Know Me, God, You Know Me

posted by Beyond Blue

Scripture.jpegOn Saturday, my son received his First Reconciliation. I was one of the readers, and I found the passage that I read for the program so beautiful and comforting. It is Psalm 139:

(This is the children’s edition … to which I relate better!)

You have looked deep
into my heart, LORD,
and you know all about me.
You know when I am resting or when I am working,
and from heaven
you discover my thoughts.
You notice everything I do
and everywhere I go.

You are the one
who put me together
inside my mother’s body,
and I praise you
because of the wonderful way
you created me.

Everything you do is marvelous
Of this I have no doubt.
Nothing about me
is hidden from you!
I was secretly woven together
deep in the earth below.

I can't remember all the speeches at my commencement ceremony. But I do remember looking up on the stage to see my best friend, the valedictorian of our class, sitting there among all the luminaries, and wondering how in the world she did that when English was her second language. It still blows me

Label Me, Please
For a long while I was afraid to write things such as "I am mentally ill" or "I am bipolar." I was afraid of labels. By calling myself a manic-depressive would I trap my psyche in "sick" mode? By accepting my diagnosis of bipolar disorder, would I prevent healing? By writing the words "I am menta

your timing, as always, is perfect. I woke up crying this morning and have not been able to turn it off.
Even now, when God feels so distant from me and it does not feel like he will ever intervene in the darkness of my life- you have reminded me that the One who made me knows me and knows my limits. He loves me and will not let me fall too deep.
Thank you Therese.

Since I’m Lutheran ~ there are 6 generations of Lutheran pastors in my family ~ But please don’t hold that against me :) I don’t know what it means to receive a First Reconciliation. Please explain.
LOVE the Psalm.

You know me God?
Used to be one of your artifacts.
My destiny is the way your will is on. And which way is your way?
God, I saw a piece of you, a brilliant masterpiece. But you declined to make it shine to my eyes anymore. That’s yours for sure.
I asked you: You know me God?
You gave me passion instead. And I wished you didn’t. Passion without potion. You destined me this way. But which way is your way?
I desperately asked you: You know me God?
Then you gave me introversion to look at myself. Passion made my introversion to engrave your masterpiece in me instead of myself.
Now I have an image of yours. I don’t want your potion anymore. Cause I have an image of yours.
And you know me God, cause I have an image of yours!
You know me cause you gave me passion, passion of yours. And that’s your way.
