pocket therapist front cover small.jpgI have decided to dedicate a post on Thursday to therapy, and offer you the many tips I have learned on the couch. They will be a good reminder for me, as well, of something small I can concentrate on. Many of them are published in my book, “The Pocket Therapist: An Emotional Survival Kit.

According to Wikipedia, a mantra is “a sound, syllable, word, or group of words that are considered capable of creating transformation.” The tradition started in India and was adopted by most of the eastern religions, but the concept of words possessing creative power can be found in the Gospel of John, too: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was made flesh.”

All I know is that repeating one word or four words really calms me down. Like Valium does.
My mantras change depending on how desperate I am. Some of my favorites are: “I am okay.” “Peace.” “I am enough.” “I have enough.” “Love them.” “I will get better.” “God, be with me.” “Take this from me.” “Hello??? Anyone up there??? What the hell are you doing?”
