I thought it was appropriate to share this beautiful reflection of Joyce Rupp’s, inspired by the theologian Karl Rahner, on Good Friday. I found it in a beautiful book of reflections by Joyce Rupp called “Fragments of Your Ancient Name” by Joyce Rupp.
God of My Bitter Hours
by Joyce Rupp (Inspired by Karl Rahner)
You knelt in the Gethsemane garden
In the final hours before your death,
The sweat of bloody regret on your brow.
We, too, have our painful episodes
When the bitter taste of obvious defeat
Barricades any hope of comfort and release.
You join us in our bitter hours of struggle
When opposition, discontent, or lament
Block the corridors to our peacefulness.
You reassure us, “This, too, will pass.”

Thank You for the more clear perspective and helping me to realize the importance of this day and weekend. After having a panic attack on Wed. I’ve been in a fog for a while and this helped bring things into clarity.
Blessings to you and your family this Easter Weekend.

Congratulations on your new opportunity.
I will miss you at Belief Net. I am one of the “chosen”. I must confess that at 80 OCD
doesn’t go away but it sure slows down.
Blessings Jim Connelly.

Dear Therese,
You and your blogs have been a constant inspiration to me and like you I have been struggling with major depression. By some mysterious, unexplainable grace or whatever i just feel a connection. One of that is this same, exact reflection you just blogged. Last year a friend recommended
Rupp’s book to me and I read it. This same reflection has become my prayer in my struggles. Last year, I wrote this down on my journal to remind me that i am not alone and God will see me through my struggles and bitterness. And true enough, the storm indeed passed for now. My gratitude to Him is so immensely great…thank you for reminding me this. I Love your posts, please don’t stop being an inspiration.
