Yes, you can afford to eat a healthy diet with quality foods!  One easy way to add more money to your food budget is to push that grocery cart right past the beverage aisle. Don’t stop!

Americans spend $66 BILLION a year on soda.  That’s $66,000,000,000.  That will buy a lot of healthy food!  Take a look at your grocery bill and figure out how much your family contributes to that horrifying number. You may be surprised.  Add in the sodas (or “pop” as we say in the South) that you buy at the drive-through fast food places while you are out running around and the occasional can of pop from the vending machine.  More surprised now?

Sugary juices and flavored water are marginally better choices, but still pricey.  If you have a juicer, you can make your own juice from your produce that has been around almost (but not quite) too long.  That way you don’t have to throw away food and you get juice that is healthier — and cheaper.  Don’t have a juicer?  Check out some garage sales. They tend to show up there frequently.

Your very best option is free.  Drink water.  If you invest in a water filter you won’t need to buy bottled water, assuming your tap water, like ours, leaves something to be desired in taste and purity.  Water is better for you than carbonated drinks and will help you in your weight loss efforts, too.  Click here to read about free weight loss drink.

With the money you save from cutting out the sodas, you will have more for the good and good-for-you food — which we’ll be talking about in posts that are coming up.Eating to live and living for Christ,
