The John Wesley Fellows Meeting at Candler---- The Senior Fellows
The John Wesley Fellowship began in 1977, with Steve Harper and yours truly being two of the first John Wesley Fellows chosen.  I have told the story of Ed Robb and AFTE  this past Fall on the blog so I will not repeat it.   Here are some of the senior fellows attending the meeting.

Guns and Religion--- Enough is Quite Enough
I was sitting at the traffic light when a pickup pulled up next to me.  On the back of the cab window was a bumper sticker saying 'Guns and religion. Now more than ever.'   Then I found the picture you see above, and then this one below......   My response to this nonsense above

Will you please ask Dom Crossan if it isn’t past time to move away from his sociological model imposed on the Galilee? When will he fully recognize the implications of the archaeology of the Galilee? The frescoed residence at Yodefat found by expert Galilean archaeologist Motti Aviam. The private mikva’ot in the quasi-”middle class” residences above the large cave in Yodefat housing a giant olive press that produced more olive oil than a small village could use. The frescoed walls in the synagogue of the thriving town of Migdal where typical residences were near the beautiful synagogue. How much evidence is necessary to move Dom Crossan away from the brokerless-kingdom-political Jesus and help him imagine Jesus in a Beit Midrash attached to the Migdal synagogue, teaching and healing and exorcising demons (Mary of Migdal)in ways that persuaded his followers that this was more than another gifted rabbi?

ove to see it Ben, Crossan of course knows lots of history [his view!] but should be no match for a well versed theologian [who still belives in the resurection].

My common, unschooled mind can’t fathom how Crossan’s tower can stand when it has no foundation. Since Crossan seems to base everything on his late-dating of the Gospels (ignoring the stuff in the Gospels and relying instead on other “first strata” sources) wouldn’t most of Paul’s letters qualify as “first strata” sources since they were written between 30-60AD and show Jesus to be Son of God, Messiah and Savior?
