On a sun streaming in through my window Saturday morning, before typing this blog, I asked for a bit of inspiration, since there are so many fascinating things about which to write. I was listening to my favorite radio station on the planet…WXPN 88.5 fm in Philly and a cover of Carole King’s classic Tapestry rendered by jazz guitarist Tommy Emmanuel flowed over the airwaves~ Ahhh…perfect, since I do view my life as an interwoven fabric consisting of precious people and enlivening experiences, all designed by a loving Universe to bring me to a sense of enlightenment. Wondering, as I often do, how much of our personal tapestry is created prior to our incarnation in human form and how much we weave thread by thread with each decision we make and each thought we entertain. I have been immersed in that discussion in my own mind and with friends alot lately. Still no conclusion, but I am mostly enjoying the outcomes.
Last week, I had been waist deep (or maybe higher:) in wonder about the ways in which I deflect the generosity of the people in my life, with feelings of unworthiness or self doubt and then along comes Amanda Owens’ book The Power of Receiving that I reviewed for the Bliss Blog. The further I immersed myself in the pages, the more nods of uh huh. I so often have forgotten to create a healthy relationship with my dreams and visions for myself, instead, treating them like unwelcome visitors at my door, even though I have invited them to knock. I am ab-soul-utely certain that her book was a direct answer to my beckoning questions.
Something I recall hearing many years ago that when an oriental rug is created, one thread is left undone, so as to remind us that nothing is perfect and is always a work in progress.

I am so glad that you are thinking about the topic of receiving! And I love your comment:

I often say — and come to think of it I may have said it in my book – “Just because you know how to attract something, doesn’t mean you know how to receive it.”
I think your experience is true for so many people — we invite our goals and dreams to move toward us, and then send them away once they have arrived — often unwittingly!
I hope you are doing the receive-exercises in my book. With so little effort and time, the most magical changes begin to occur. I look forward to hearing about them

Oh, I am indeed doing the exercises…have been doing the Big Circle/Little Circle one ALOT…not quite read for the Monster Party. Wonder who my monster is who would show up:)
I meander back and forth between a willingness to receive and then to ward off the gifts that a generous Universe offers me. I call it wearing my teflon shield off of which things sliiiiiide ~ I then re-direct myself into being a love sponge that soaks it all up:)

I’m thinking of doing an audio of the Monster Celebration on my site to help lead people through. It’s such a rewarding exercise and brings wonderful benefits.
That wandering back and forth is quite common. Isn’t it amazing, when you think about it, that it is hard to receive?! Oy.
