I had written about my friend singer-songwriter Annabella Wood a.k.a. ‘Truck Driving Mama” when her song by that name had been released. Her soul stirring music is heard at various interfaith communities of which she is a part; two among them Circle of Miracles and Common Ground Fellowship in the Philadelphia area. Many of the tunes that so delight her audiences, first did so for her as she traveled the highways and byways of America as a long distance trucker. The words and lyrics were her companions as Spirit dictated and she took notes (and chords:) Her wish to be a recording artist and professional musician has come to be in grand style and I love being in the audience, singing along and smiling in recognition of the empowering truth in the words she offers.
She is about to make a long time wish come true for an 82 year woman who a few years ago was not even on her radar screen. Annabella is teaming up with another friend of mine named Cass Forkin who is the founder and director of Twilight Wish Foundation in Doylestown, PA that grants wishes to seniors who would not have another way of making their dearest dreams come to be.
According to the description on Twilight Wish’s website: “Margarette is a young, vibrant 82 year-old with a passion for life. Her wish is to ride in an 18-wheeler across the country. Twilight Wish has paired up with truck driver Annabella Wood, who with her Pomeranian by her side, will make Margarette’s wish a reality by driving her cross country in her big rig. AARP plans to ride along for part of the trip, filming the wish for their magazine and website. We have the route planned out with stops across the country in nursing homes and Twilight Wish regional chapters. Corporate sponsorships are available. Call Cass at 215-230-8777 ext. 101 for information.
The trip sounds exciting and like it will be the adventure of a lifetime for both of them. I can imagine the sing-alongs that will occur and the stories they will share. The trip will commence June 6th, with the send off from the Dublin Star Diner in bucolic Dublin (Bucks County) PA. There will be a fundraiser breakfast at the diner that morning. We’re gettin’ this party started at 9:30am and the truck leaves at 11:00am. I will be there to join in the celebration for so many reasons. The food there is diner cuisine at its finest, the spirited energy will be off the charts, and it is for a great cause! I can visualize ithe rig rolling down Rte 313, with cheering and waving people surrounding it, Annabella and Margarette blowing kisses out the windows.

Thanks for the write up. I am really looking forward to the trip and we are going to sing our way across country and back. It will be wonderful.
Don’t forget, we are having a $25/plate fundraising breakfast at the diner the morning the truck leaves.

This article is so refreshing. I am a senior citizen also and I can appreciate this very much. The senior citizen is put on the back burner way to much of the time. Anytime there is a new project The attitude is “Lets throw the senior citizen out with the dirty bath water. Let us see what is in it for us. This is their attitude. I live in Oklahoma City and just across the street is two trucking businesses. We have met some personally. They are so nice. This is so nice to hear that you are spendingtime with a senior. So glad you liked the article. I know that the trip will be special for both Annabella and Margarette. I agree that often Seniors are cast aside. How silly is that when there will come a time when we are all aged? Age is a number and a state of mind. Most Seniors I know are living full out. My parents lived well, into their 80′s and were engaged in the world and had interests and activities. Sounds like you are in that ‘aging well’ category too.
