Weaving A Pattern

“If you knew how many hearts are healed and how many lives were transformed throughout the patterns created in every choice, you’d follow your heart in every breath and bless the world wherever you go.”-Matt Kahn
I saw this quote yesterday and was immediately moved by its truth that reached down and wasn’t about to let go.  Each day I awaken both literally, by opening my eyes, stretching and getting out of bed and mindfully, by being aware of my choices in each moment. Often, way too often, I hear people say that they are unhappy because, as they voice:  ’life is hard’, ‘the world is a bad/dangerous place’, ‘people are out to get you’…ad nauseum… It isn’t that this is inherently so, it is that they perceive/believe it to be so and thus it is, for them. What if they and I and you, knew that each decision we make, leads to love or fear (as  A Course in Miracles so simply and beautifully expresses) and further, what if the collective ‘we’ were certain that we have the ability and the responsibility to heal and transform lives?  How would the world be?
When I think of a pattern, what comes to mind is a continuing thread that weaves its way throughout our days. We may not have taken  the first stitch; perhaps Creation itself (call it what you will) did that. So often, though, we are convinced that we are obligated to continue in unhealthy patterns, just because our ancestors did, or we don’t know that we are free to design our own. I have patients who tell me that they keep doing what they’ve always done, because they didn’t realize they had any other choice or because they didn’t know how to change. The best definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, expecting diffferent results.
Following your heart doesn’t mean only doing what you want to do in a self serving manner. The heart, when it is a finely tuned instrument, only wants what is for the Highest Good, what will offer the greatest benefit for all. If you are only asking ‘what’s in it for me?’ and then go for that, you are likely to feel empty inside. When you focus on filling the hole because of lack and limitation consciousness, you will always hunger. Conversely, when you are a fountain of love and compassion, filled to overflowing, there will always be plenty to share and more than enough to keep you nourished.
A friend of mine had been expressing that she was making some life changes based on reconsidering how she was viewing circumstances. My repsonse to her was : “ Glad to heart that.”  oooppps,  I thought, when I re-read it, as  my inner editor chirped, “I should have written ‘glad to hear that.’  and then I revisted  it and realized that I was right the first time. How about if when we knew in our hearts that something was so, we would say “Glad to heart that.”?
Are you willing to change the pattern, and create your life by divine design?

Reasonable Demands
I grew up with parents who preached "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all."  Perhaps somewhat good guidance to prevent mean spirited communication, but I took it to heart in a rather co-dependent, self muzzling kinda way. It has take many years, dare I say 5 decades

Yo-ga Adrianne!
I didn't come up with the title for this entry...it came through my friend Robin Renee as a response to a question I had asked. The image you are looking at is the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art on Sunday May 20th, 2012. For many people, the stucture bri

Creating Time
I laugh as I write this entry, since as much as I was delighted when this book arrived in my mail box, I had to set it aside for a bit, since I didn't have time to read it!  SO, that's how I know that this heaping scoop of deliciousity was written for me and all of those creatives out there who dar

Chatting Or Cheating
What constitutes cheating in a relationship?  From the most blatant example of an all out under the covers romp to a so-called innocent flirtation with a co-worker that your partner or theirs doesn't know about; the definition is broad based.  A marvelous guide that could be a

A Toast
Marge Piercy is one of my favorite authors who penned a pivotal-in-my-spiritual-awakening book called Woman On the Edge of Time. This quote of hers jumped out at me recently.  ""The pitcher cries for water to carry and a person for work that is real."  Each of us has a purpose; the pitch
