I was seriously listening to you, (Pew Forum on Book TV) thinking you presented as an intelligent, informed and open minded individual.
Then you said "as bad as being a Catholic" and I realized you have little correct knowledge about what it really means to be a Christian.
I don't condone human failings, neither do I generalize against a true faith on the failings of a small percent of its members - even high ranking members.
Doing that, we have come to the 'God id dead' conclusion, because all faiths have been condemned (by members of differing faiths) on the failings of their members.
People of all faiths could change the world if we would focus on the heart of our religions: Love, Truth, Wisdom.
We, citizens of Nietze's world, have not yet evolved in the development of our consciousness to live according to the coeur beliefs of our faith.
As a cradle Catholic, I would like to promote the intention of my faith
which is to love one another as Jesus taught us. It is the absence of Love which promotes fear: Low self-esteen, perversions, child abuse, violence, fear of our differences, which diverts us to the worship of money, endless addictions, on and on...
People could consider simply sharing with one another (i.e.) share the Holy Land - share our resources - in a reasonable manner. I suggest we all stop fighting and dialogue for a better understanding of our unity. Greed is so ignorant.
I would like to promote that we all put our faith into action,
and increase our understanding and love (philia) of each other.
I don't go around preaching. I was listening to you because I thought 'she has the right idea.'
My sense of humor is intact - so your remark could be interpreted as just a joke - were it not for so much misunderstanding and condemnation of the Catholic (Universal Christian) faith.

America is made up of all cultures, religons, and race. It was founded on Godly principles. To get back to that is my prayer.
When we read the Bible and see the plan of salvation and what it cost God our heavenly father, we see how much he loves his creation, namely us!
Jesus was the Savior and pefect man. We, who are Christians must follow his example and pray daily to be like him. When we are committed to him and he lives within us we will walk in his love. Is that easy? Sometimes yes and sometimes no. It takes a forgiving heart and a love for our fellowman.
I believe we can ask the father in the name of Jesus of whatever we need and it will be given to us. This is his word. He watches over his word to perform it. Are we asking for a fulfilled life in him or selfish for us? We need to all be more like Jesus and as he spoke to the woman who was about to be stoned, "Neither do I condemn thee, go and sin no more". Walk in love, fellow believers ask to be guided by our Heavenly father and he will lead us straight home to be with him when our time on earth is through and our life will count as HE wants it to.

My understanding of Hanna's comment was that she was speaking from the protestant fundamentalist Christian perspective, measuring their behavior and approach by their own standards. Not applying her own.
But perhaps I'm referring to a different comment than you are.
Is this "The Hanna Rosin", the NAMBLA loving writer who is described here: "http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/000/000/001/334juixf.asp?pg=1" as touting pedophilia when the victims are boys?
Why would such a person find a home on BeliefNet? Don't any of you people have children (you don't abuse)?
