America: Fulfilling her promises

All Americans should take great pride and satisfaction in the election of an African-American as president of the United States. Given our nation's tragic racial history, it says something noble and fine about America that Barack Obama, both a product of a biracial marriage and the son of a Kenyan father, could be elected to the highest political office in the land. I do not believe that there is another country on the face of the planet where such a thing could happen.

Every one of us should pause to give thanks that we have the privilege and great good fortune to call ourselves Americans and that we get to live out our lives in this great "opportunity democracy" where we truly do believe that "all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

The great American story has been our struggle to extend the promises of our founding documents (Declaration of Independence) to an ever greater circle of our society.

Whether someone voted for President-elect Obama or not, we can all agree that with his election, our nation has taken a giant step forward in delivering on the promise of a nation "with liberty and justice for all."

amen! i believe we saw a miracle and we need to submit to God more than ever, love one another, be wise, we need to focus on God and do not let hatred divide us, let this not be about us, lets have faith in God, let God do his work! Let us not hinder what our mighty God can do through our president and any elected officials! God can do a mighty work through our president, and so we need to pray for him and keep him in our prayers as the devil is out in this world seeking to destroy, let us stand strong against the devil and allow God to reign! We need to be very careful before opening our mouths against anyone, we more than ever need to be self examining and live by Gods word, yes, there are many ills in our country, many sins, but being not a part of it and living our lives according to God and helping those that are down with prayer and love, God can save them from sin, HE Saves, He cleanses, let us have open arms for those so that they will want to be washed clean and live anew rather than run because we are arrogant, unloving, self righteous snobs. God Bless America, and help us Lord to be the people you want us to be, heal us, our minds and our hearts as well as our bodies. Amen

Are you serious? I wish people would just get a grip. This country had slaves and that was bad. Let me remind you we are the only country that stood up for those people and freed them.PS throughout history slaves have been from every culture and race and Ethiopians had European slaves,Egyptians had Jewish slaves and slavery is still alive and well in the world. It led to a great divide between families and a lot of blood shed for that freedom. Nobody should cast a vote based on race either direction. I would like to look at the facts of what a man stands for before I am happy he is leading my country. Partial birth abortion alone should have had any Christian running from Obama. People you have to get rid of the political correctness mindset and get into the Christ mindset. Please read your Bible and let the Holy Spirit work in your life. Pray for our leaders all of them.
