Addicted to Psychics?

Monday March 6, 2006

Yesterday's "New York Times" alerted me to the existence of a website and online support network for people addicted to psychics and their alluring, expensive forecasts. Founded by Sarah Lassez, an actress who was, at her worst, spending $1000 a...

My only visit to a psychic was when, shortly after my husband and I got engaged, his mother gave us our choice between two psychics she had found very trustworthy. One, she told us, would tell us the good and the bad that lay ahead. The other, only the good.

We chose the second. If there was good ahead, I wanted to know about it so I could look forward to it. But if there was bad ahead, I'd just as soon be surprised. If it happened, I'd worry about it then, and if it didn't, I wouldn't have wasted any time worrying unnecessarily.>

I have always been interested in the mysterious and psychic phenomena. I also read the Tarot cards professionally for about three years. It was absolutely fascinating and exhausting. I quit and stopped completely because I needed a break, and only once in awhile do I pick them up and take a peek. It is for spiritual guidance only, not if I am going to get the job or about my love life, etc. I cautioned my clients not to use the cards or any other type of modality to "know" what will happen. I came to believe myself that it is more important to trust one's own instincts and whatever Higher Power he or she may believe in, or not for that matter. Just let it be, but use the cards to understand what was happening at the moment in his or her own mind and heart. Boy, am I long-winded, must be the two cups of coffee! Thanks for listening and God bless.>

Sounds a bit like astrology which I feel is far more accurate about a persons characteristics/what they are like than it is about predicting their future>
