Do You ‘Believe’ In Cold and Flu Season?

posted by Chattering Mind | 3:32pm Tuesday October 31, 2006

I avoid worrying about cold and flu season and don’t get flu shots, but scoll down here and watch this film about a positive-thinking approach I’ve never tried that looks like fun (yeah, okay Brian, tear me up for this): tapping around your ears front to back with your fingers and repeating to yourself “I’m not going to get a cold or the flu” to train your belief system.

I know that “Emotional Freedom” tapping therapies can be tremendously effective, odd as they seem. Anyone else know more or had actual experience?

CM's Final Posts: You Can Fill the Space
Eighteen years ago, I wrote an article for a magazine that got me called in for a taped interview with a Fox TV morning news anchor. Being an effective communicator and a skillful public speaker was a dream of mine at the time. And still is. After some 30 minutes of prep with the station's hair-and-

Websites to Visit, Blogs to Read
Here are some blogs and websites I like. It's not a complete list. But it's a start. The first is called New Moon Journal and it is written by Michele Bailey-Lessirard, a life coach, collage artist, and "shamanic astrologer." On the opening page of her site, you'll find a little slide show of her am

Don't Pierce Your Belly Button
I caught the following conversation between two pretty women in the ladies' room of a Manhattan restaurant. One of the women was pregnant. And she said, "So my acupuncturist made me take the ring out of my belly button." "Really?" her friend exclaimed. "Yeah, he said, 'Let's give this baby a chance.

Uh…this sounds a little toooo weird for me to believe. I don’t get many colds and I don’t get the flu because I’m usually the cleanest of the bunch. And I think the immunity system I built by always playing in soot, mud, and eating undercooked eggs and meat helped, too…

I love your web site and all the great tips and inspirational info. However I wish you would rethink flu vaccinations, for the sake of others. I am an RN, and into holistic & alternative healthcare combined with common sense. Every year many young babies and the elderly die from the flu. Usually you are contagious 24 hrs before you have symptoms. How many people did you infect before you knew? Some of those poeple will carry that back to their elderly parents or young babies. Most of these deaths are preventable by preventing the spread of flu through vaccinations programs.Get your flu shot to protect others and then believe that someday when you are elderly and suseptable the younger generation will do that for you. There are approx. 32,000 deaths from the flu annually. Vaccination for flu strains protect the most vulnerable (i.e., children and the elderly from flu related morbidity and mortality). People who opt not to get vaccinated for flu and other common illnesses like measles, mumps, chickenpox, etc. put those people at risk even if they are healthy and don’t develop serious cold and flu symptoms. Your actions are regrettably irresponsible. Please schedule a visit with your doctor tomorrow. MTLBWY
