Lots of fans expecting blood and guts were disappointed with the subtle, gentle finale of the HBO series "The Sopranos."
I too, thought my cable connection was severed when the TV went gray after Tony raised his head to see his daughter come through the restaurant door. Was he killed by a hit man after that? Or did he order a cheeseburger? Were they all slaughtered as they enjoyed a civil family meal?
We can only imagine. We'll never know. Maybe Tony will live out his life and become, if he's lucky, like Junior, so senile he won't be able to recall he was once a murdering mob boss. And that's the way life is sometimes. It's a dreamy televised series with great music. It's all an illusion in our chattering heads.
