Do you know about Damanhur? It's a 1,000-resident intentional community and eco-village in the mountains of Italy that's currently attracting the interest of American spiritual seekers. In 2004, the United Nations acknowledged Damanhur as a model for sustainable society. Children are being raised and educated here, the adults farm and make their own food. Check out the temples they've built to an all-embracing human spirituality.
Here's a film that shows the beauty of Damanhur's "Hall of Mirrors." And here's an article about the place called "Atlantis in the Mountains of Italy" that explains how it all came together and how problems are navigated. And here's the Damanhur coffee table book, with a forward by spiritual artist Alex Grey (who I'm always happy to see roaming the streets of Brooklyn near my food coop).

Very interesting. This reminds me of Finhorn in Scottland. I wonder if there is any such community in the states?
What ever happened to Gaviotas?
Are you crazy....Damanhur is well known in Italy as a psycho-sect or cult as you would call it the States. Why are you advertizing it..people's lives are being ruined there and you are contributing to that damage.
Do your homework before you encourage others to be ripped off and ruin their lives too. Ross Robertson just learnt his lesson ...look beyond the super glossy PR image ... You are all being taken for a new age ride.
Well the above post is one to ignore, the comments are obviously posted by someone with a hidden agenda. No name for starters, next the quote of how damanhur is well known in italy as a cult, this is a lie as i regularly travel to italy and never saw this except the lies promoted by the church who are feeling their power and control over the people slipping away as they wake up to the worst cult that has ever existed namely the church based in the Vatican. I actually visited Damanhur and definately never felt being ripped off, unlike the Nuns telling me to give half of my money i earnt as a ten year old (selling newspapers as my parent were poor and had a large family) to the church every week, they actually threatened me, definately no love was expressed by these bigots. The love i felt coming from the Damanhurians is something i treasure and will never forget. I think the New Age ride is better than just watching the marines in action, thinking about how many poor Iraqis they can slaughter for possession of their resources.
Ill end this and send some love to the poor souls who think like the anonamous poster above
Love and light to you all
