Let's Hear It for the Sponsors!
There are some folks without whom the Church Basement Roadshow would not have been possible. The first is the inimitable Michael Toy, owner of the RV that carried us over 15,000 miles this summer.
The other is the group of sponsors who underwrote the tour in one way or another. I encourage you to

Hottest Shows
Some of the Roadshows were HOT, and by that I don't mean "cool." I mean they were hot, like sweaty, humid, disgustingly hot. Of course, there were lots of comments about how the heat made it feel like a real, old-timey revival, and lots of jokes about us wearing three-piece wool frock suits. The

Hi,
I’m a little disappointed to see that there will be a $10 charge. I’ve been planning to take my church small group to the Santa Monica show. They are a group of folks who would not normally be disposed to attend such an event, but I think it would be a good thing for them to be exposed to. However, if there is a $10 charge, there is no way I can cancel our regular meeting and tell everyone to go to the show. I understand that you probably have expenses to cover, but my point is that, if you charge, you’ll mostly end up preaching to the crowd, and won’t expose many new people to your message. That would be too bad.
Sincerely,
Bryant

Dear Bryant,
$10 seems a small price to pay for 90 minutes of entertainin’ gospel preaching! We sure hope to see you there!

Hi Bryant,
I hope the cover fee isn’t a turn-off, especially when you consider that “free” rarely means “good” in today’s service economy. As far as preaching to the crowd is concerned, maybe it’s only the churched crowd that’s going to be hung-up about a cover charge? I know plenty of people who would pay a cover to see a band or a stand-up act. Hey, if after receiving a free copy of the de-versify bible, music and a 90-minute show you feel like it was $10 squandered, I’m sure Tony would be happy to pay a refund
