He bought a box of Kellog’s Raisin Bran at WalMart and was shocked to find live bugs crawling around inside the sealed packaging. He took video and has uploaded it to YouTube. This is really disturbing video, so be warned.
No, this is not a joke.

I worked at Wal-mart for four years and spent a year and a half of that in Grocery Reclamations. I processed damaged goods and returns to be sent back to the warehouse for store credit (so don’t feel bad the next time you break something at Wal-mart; they get paid for it either way). I saw a lot of bug infestations while I worked there. It either came in from the warehouse infested (which in this case came in infested from Kellog’s) or became infested on Wal-mart’s shelves because of improper product rotation. My worst experience at Wal-mart? I found what appeared to be a plastic container filled with mac and cheese but was actually moldy barbecue chicken. Pukesville.

Oh yes, I have seen so many boxes of cereal with maggots and/or crawling bugs in them! (I quit buying cereal years ago.) Rice cakes are a good source of unwanted protein, too. It comes from the fact that the Feds allow a certain number of insect eggs (and rat hairs, btw) in each unit volume/weight of processed food products. If they sit on the shelves, whether in warehouses or stores, long enough, the eggs hatch, and the little creatures thrive on their lush food supply, ready to give us that special thrill some morning. This is processed foods made by Big Business, mind you–this sort of thing would never be allowed for a small business or an organic food producer, lol.

On August 19, 2009, I purchased four 20-ounce boxes of Kellog’s Raisin Bran cereal at a K-Mart store in Virginia Beach, Virginia. That same evening at home (before opening any of the boxes) I observed live maggots crawling out of the boxes.
I returned all four unopened boxes of cereal to the same K-Mart store the next day for a full refund. At the customer service counter, the K-Mart representative opened two of the boxes and both of the bags of cereal were filled with live maggots.
At home I threw away other nearby food since live maggots had crawled out of the boxes. I also discovered live maggots in my nice Chrysler Crossfire convertible that I used to transport the cereal from K-Mart to my home and then back again.
I wasn’t expecting two scoops of live maggots in every box of cereal. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to eat Raisin Bran cereal again.
