Eid Forever

Eid al Fitr mubarak!

I spent literally the last 15 minutes of Ramadan, furiously reading Qur’an at top speed, trying to eke out as much of the barakat amplification factor as I could before the azaan sounded and the last longest day of the shortest month ended at last. So much left undone, so much to try to continue to do, so much room for improvement!

Unlike last year, Eid stands on its own. It’s nice to see that the Empire State Building has again honored Eid with the green lighting, and the US Postal Service has released a new version of the classic Eid stamp, this time in Red. See:

Beautiful! (click the image to order directly) It also honors Eid al Adha as well as Eid al Fitr, so it’s kind of a two-for-one. It’s also a Forever stamp, which means even if the postage rate increases in the future, these will still suffice (unlike the last version). I’m tempted to send a printed copy of the Islamophobia report to David Horowitz, postage paid using a pile of these. No, such sentiments do not befit Eid. Maybe the day after…

For now, it’s time to sleep, then wake, then go celebrate – with a big thaal full of nihari. Basically, spiced chunks of marinated meat in spicy curry with ginger and naan. This has been one of those gain-weight Ramadans…
