The only one who inspirers me is GOD.Not a man or a prsedient. He is the one I put my hope in and he is the one who will provide my needs physical, mental and spiritual.Anything or anyone is idol worship.First commandment is THOU SHALL NOT PUT ANY OTHER gods BEFORE ME.That includes your house, car, job, people if they come before GOD then that is idol worship. He should be the center of your life and the rest are blessings from him and all of that STUFF is loaned to us from him.

Please look at the writings and life of Khurram Ali Shafique at
The Republic of Rumi and you will find an historian, biographer, film-maker, teacher with expertise and compassion as well as a man of faith. He combines the best of worlds at a time when Pakistan is facing enemies from within and without. This combination of attributes and values has been an inspiration for my own desire to be the best I can be as well for my country, my faith, my calling as writer and to the young and my planet.

The person who inspired me the most this year is Barack Obama. While he has been met with considerable opposition to his economic and health care agenda, he proposed these things with the best of intentions for the American people, and with great hopes for the future. He is an idealist and a visionary, and as such, proposed a world free of war, hunger, economic deprivation, and the opportunity for our children to get a good education, and for all people to be able to afford quality health care. That’s part of the reasons he overwhelmingly won the election. Now people are starting to turn on him, because they say he did not keep his campaign promises. That’s not exactly true. The reason things are still bad, or even worse, is because every time he tries to do something, he is shot down by liberals and turn-coats in his own party. Had that not been the case, we would now be on our way to economic security, a free nation, and health and education that everyone is entitled to. I still have faith in the man, and with time and cooperation, if that ever happens, he will prove to those who doubt him, that he has kept his word.

The person whom most inspired me this year was and is my Dad. I was unemployed for the majority of the year while in his home due to unforseen circumstances; but he yet encouraged me to hang in there and not to give up. He also continued paying my main two bills and not complaining. He was just glad that I was with him.

My husband, he loves me unconditionally. I have been through a lot in my life and he has never judged me for it. He loves me completely unconditionally. His love is as close to Jesus as a “human” can get.

There have been many people this year that have inspired me. The three that I will mention are Ruth, my wife, Larry, my former boss and Bp.Craig my current bishop. These three individuals have exhibited a tremendous commitment to the people they serve. They work many extra hours behind the scenes in order for their respective systems to run smoothly and efficiently. They sacrifice sleep, personal time and even their diets to get the job done. I have the utmost respect for them and I and numerous others are the better for knowing them.

My Dad is my biggest Hero and inspiration….He has done so much for us and never once asked for anything in return….He has taught us the true meaning of God’s Love through his son Jesus Christ also the biggest motivator of Hope….When I often think about Love…..unselfishness and sacrifice is what comes to mind…and that is an accurate description of my earthly as well as our heavenly father’s love is all about…..combined these two qualities and wrap a great big heart around it with lots of hugs and kisses, and that should sum it up….I know I drove my dad crazy while i was growing up…but who didn’t right! But he always let me know how much he cared…and forgave me for my many mistakes growing up….its like watching a two year old keep falling down…after trying to learn how to walk…you are not going to knock the kid on his head if he fell….but patiently you wait for you kids to learn…just like our heavenly father…..He knows us inside out and were loved at a priceless sacrifice……God bless you all…ps if you didn’t have a dad like mine….no worries…if God is for you who is against you???????? If it not love…then you know

I’ve been so inspired by my Rabbi, Heidi and my Hebrew study partner Adrienne. Heidi has made being part of Temple life joyful and inspired me (and 5 other women) to study for an adult Bat Mitzvah. Studying Hebrew with Adrienne has pushed me to work harder and I can now follow the whole service in Hebrew ( which is a big deal for a secular jew who never learned Hebrew as a kid). As I discovered this past Monday, following the whole Yom Kippur service in Hebrew added an extremely spiritual level to the whole experience! Thank you Heidi and Adrienne

The Esquire Abby Phelps, my mother has not only been a great inspirattion to me in my life, she has greatly inspired and empowered others to achieve greatness and to be the best that they can be. She is multi taleneted and masters everything she attempts, speaks three langugues fluently and she is very pretty. Despite all of these things, she is very humble and patient with others. She never puts anyone down or make fun of others because she has been through a lot and feels that it is her duty to help not put people down. Even despite these things, she is not bitter because of the way that she was mistreated. She believes that we are all equal in God’s eyes and that he will right all of the bwrongs that have been done to us.. Richard Sorger owner of Studio West in E. Stroudsburg,Pa. is a master dancer who has quietly with no fanfare helped many people in need of support physically, mentally and emotionally through dance. His sensitivity and Christian love and concern are displayed in reaching out to those in need by not only teaching the dance steps but through encouragement helping people to realize their potential in creative endeavors, overcoming disabilities, changing of self image and reducing the sense of isolation and alienation seen so often in our society.

Mufti Husein Kavazovic has been a very real inspiration to me. He genuinely cares about all the people of Bosnia, not only Islamic people, but Serbian Orthodox and Croatian Catholic people as well. He was instrumental in helping found the Tuzla Institute this past year, an event helping young people of all backgrounds to better themselves. He has continued to support a faith-based treatment center for young men who are Heroin addicts west of Tuzla. He continues to work with two NGO’s BILD, and SEEDS, who are seeking to assist the Bosnian people. I would encourage any of you reading these words to learn more about this remarkable man.

The Most Inspiring Person Of The Year 2009
My brother Daniel Linares/40, was battling Carcinoma of the Sinus Right Maxilleria Cancer for a whole year without any complaints to anyone about pain. He stood strong and did not complain. My brother did all he could to try to keep the pain from showing. Never wanting his family friends or kids to know what he was going through. He mentioned to his fiance who is now his wife, that he would rather it be him than any of his sisters. So he took the pain like a Soldier in a battle. He will always be my hero and i thank God that he was put on this earth to comfort us and to bring joy into our lives. Although, he may have died here on earth, he lives in heaven, where he is now at peace and without pain. Love your lil sister Mary Ann

The most inspiring person in both my own and my wife’s life ( we have discussed him often and miss him greatly) is Brother Chris Lloyd; formerly Elder Lloyd. He is the person who brought my family in to the LDS church- even though we are far from typical on the outside for regular LDS (we have lots of tattoos, long hair ,etc etc)
Brother Lloyd served in the Sycamore Ward in Tracy California and from the day he came to meet with my wife he visited us every day until his Mission was complete. We consider ourselves very fortunate to be the only people Elder Lloyd Baptised in his entire Mission. He brought an aura of calm when ever he was around; was wonderful with our Autistic son, and made a couple into true believers and students of the scriptures from people who just had “our own beliefs”
My wife and I miss Brother Lloyd so much, he changed our famly’s lives for the better by such a degree. He finished his Mission and 3 days later was back in Utah at college studying Aviation- appropriate for a Man who seemed to have a direct line to God to work up above the clouds
I wrote Brother Lloyd a letter when I asked him to be the one to Baptise me- in it I asked him to comment his parents for bringing up such a Godly young man in todays Society.
When my wife and I get Sealed at the temple in a year or so Brother Lloyd has already said he wants to fly back to be there for it.
He is truely an inspirational young man.

More than 3 years ago,i saw the most inspiring person,so not only 2009
that he stands out inspiring to me.First,i just saw him walking around
the workplace, working hard and at the same time going school to achieve more of his dreams.I just simply watch this person, observing
his every move, his every steps of his life at least secretly.I knew not much about him,but i have this simple intuition that this person,
is living the best life,a quiet peaceful life.Right now,he remains the same,he never changed and my admiration remains the same:quiet and secret. To me,it is enough just watching, but i became a better person from learning his path.

The most inspiring couple for me has been none other than my own parents with no question is the most inspiring selfless people that I have ever meet or know whether it be today dateMy or in years past. They have been married 61years in July. They are very common everyday couple who gives of themselves to help in any way they can without expecting anything in return. They have help me thoughout my 58 years of life my two brothers and my sister and have help raise two of thier grandchildren, helped with great grandchildrenwhenver called upon with expecting anything in return. At present date they have legally taken on legal responsibility of temporary custudy of thier 2 year great grandchild who is a live wire and full boy.He goes 24/7 none stop and has the smile that can open your heart to the world. They are Fred and Maxie Gordon of Rogersville, Tennessee. Fred was 90 years old in August of this year,Maxie at the age of 75 also of this year have taken Rylan to raise and hope they they are fornuate to live to see when he can survive on his own regardless of thier age. Who would have thought at thier age would have to start raising thier great grandchild and not enyoying the rest of thier lives together and looking out for one another, not them they have always been this type of individuals to help people whenever they could. This has been the way it has been all of my life and I thank God for giving parents of this nature and only hope that I can be as giving as they have been and are still giving without any remorse.Rylan see already seen thier greatfulness at his age and admires his 90 year grandfather and follows him at each track he makes, he also blames papaw Fred with anything that he gets in trouble for,He is Papaw Fred’s little man holding his little right thumb stating he is “The Man”. Mawmaw Maxie goes like I said 24/7 doing the best she can to take care of this child. Thet have never ask the goverment for support and want unless it becomes neccessary. They have always been this kind of couple. So without any doubt in my mind they dont have the riches of money, the best home but they do have the deepest love of any couple that I have ever known and am so proud to say that they are my parentsaqnd are rich in ways that money can could ever buy. God Bless You MOM and Dad I just had to tell the world how proud of them I am To have been raised by these two special people.

A mother-in-law is supposed to be either a butt of jokes, or a reason to complain about. In this instance, I wish to nominate my mother-in-law and my husband’s mother-in-law (yes, my mother,) jointly as my most inspirational persons.
My mother-in-law single-handedly nursed my father-in-law, who was bed-ridden and totally robbed of his dignity. She, at age 82 did this uncomplainingly without losing her composure till his death in August.
My mather is no less venerable. My father had a stroke, followed by several complaints, which necessitated a brief hospitalisation twice. My mother was not only stoic in her acceptance of his loss of joi de vie, but nursed him back to some semblance of normalcy.
My vote is for motherhood, and the “strong, weaker sex!”

My 2 friends Hilary Messina and Gilda Restrepo are two of the most inspiring people I have ever known. Both are cancer survivors. Both are working, and caring for their elderly parents 24/7. Hilary has practically moved in with her mom, caring for her dad who is 85 with severe Alzheimer. Her dad is bedridden and her mother is 76 years old. Hilary is a little happy machine. She cooks, cleans, lifts her dad, plays with him, feeds him, takes care of the heavy man work around the house, then shoots back from NJ to PA to take nights bartending and waitressing. She takes her mother to Mass every day. Gilda also works as a nurse practioner for the VA all week, and cares for her widowed mother, another elderly person with Alzheimer. Washing, cleaning, cooking, taking her shopping. These women are to be commended. The unsung heroes who every day do what they have to do out of love, respect and compassion. And still can smile and make you laugh. I also nominate my daughter Christina Petnel, who gave up her life and boyfriend for a period of a year to care for me when I had kidney cancer, and the subsequent operations and treatments that followed. I am so blessed and honored to have 3 saints in my very midst!

I would like to tell you about the most beautiful man, he is giving, loving and helps everybody that needs it- i feel as if i am the most fortunate lady because he is my gentleman friend and my boyfriend.
I was injured 2 years ago at work and he has helped my son and i threw everything- we don’t live together but he helps me with bills and food and i just help clean up around his home(which is never a mess!!)He is my angel God brought into my life- his wife died 11years ago and yes he is alittle older then me but he is just a true blessing. I just feel so much love towards him. He owns his own bar and resturant, he hasn’t took a vacation in 5years and we only went away back then for 3 days and it was just a blast, thats when i knew i was in love. Everybody in my family thinks God sent him to me:)
Lord willing i wil get back on my feet and be able to just give back all the kindness this unselfish man has given. I have the Lord in my heart and my angel by my side- what else does a lady need? I am blessed and inspired:) Thank-you for letting me have the chance to say there are still good men out there!!! God bless you all.

I would like to nominate Chris Tomlin as the person that has inspired me the most this year. He has had several songs that have lifted me up when I was down. I lost my job of 23 years last January,am single, I have just gone through bankruptcy. All of that was devastating to me and it seemed like every time I was in my car and when I was down one of his songs would come on to lift me up and make me see who really is in control. My theme song these days is “I Will Rise” and I know I am on my way up. God is lifting me up but it is in His own time but I know I will get there.

The being which inspired me the most this year was GOD! I prayed for salvation, and it was granted. The error of my ways was revealed to me through reading the word daily. I could not understand why my life was in such dis-order or why I couldn’t have inner peace. The things I thought were not important to GOD, I found were actually very important. Understanding that we sin when we think ill or say bad things to others not knowing that fighting the flesh is not the way to deal with issues that come before us. But coming to the realization that I was battling a spirit who was controling the flesh which offended me! As my Father in Heaven says What You Do To The Least Of Them You Do Yo ME! And with that Biblical Reminder I strive to fight the bad spirit which tries to control me! In Jesus Name !!!!

You have asked for a person but I would like to nominate a large group. These are the Men and Women who so unselfishly defend our Country.
There have been many ‘heroes’ mentioned at different times and I am always so proud to hear of the great things they have done. However, each person has left a family, loved ones, home and country.
As all of us go through our busy daily lives, there are thousands and thousands of heroes who are faceless and nameless to us. If interviewed, I believe they would say they are ‘just doing their job’. How many of us have a job that requires us to live in a war zone? Live in near poverty because our government pays us less than minimum wage? Our media fills our heads with the beauty and glamour of the rich and famous. How many of them would trade places with one military individual for just one day?

My mother found in February that she had cancer in both breasts and have to have a mastectomy at the age of 82. When I found out I had to fight the fear of her being able to go through the surgery and recovery because of her age. There were alot of friends and family praying for her and she said she had no fear because Jesus was with her. After the surgery my younger sister went and stayed with her to help her in her recovery. My sister sent me pictures of my mom and she looked great! My mom’s faith and strength during hard times and my sister’s care for her and her family was my inspiration for 2009!

I nominate Wayndel Brown, an ordinary auto mechanic who suffers terribly from Chron’s disease but constantly drags himself to do his work so that he can provide for his smalll family. He makes sure that they eat before him and never buys anything for himself.
I guess that there are a lot of people like him. About eight years I went on holiday. I bought a pair of sandals for him because he sorely needed one. He held it and brought tears to my eyes when he said that no one had ever given him a present. He in now about 42.
I guess that he will not win but for me- he is my nominee.
He has inspired me not to complain and to help those who need only a little to be happy.

I would like to nominate the associate pastor at my church. His name is Richard. Never have I met such a humble, yet bold man with a love for Jesus like I have never seen. He has the gift of giving, compassion, holding one accountable and travels over an hour several times a week to do what he does. When one needs to talk he’s there with sound direction and advice. He is one of the most selfless people I have met. I live here away from my family and often have a hard time and he is always a comfort. Never does he turn one away. If one needed something, he will give.

I’d like to nominate the Foote Family of Park Hills, Ky. This family consists of Allen, Jill & their son Benjamin.I have never met 3 more gracious people who through all their health adversities this past year have managed to keep their love of Family,Friends,Faith,Posistive attitude & their devotion to Jehovah God. This family has been through more health issues than I would begin to elaborate. The sad part is they were going to finally after many yrs finally be able to take a Family vacation to Cancun. But last minute Benjamin came down with the H1N1 virus. So even tho they got this awesome deal where Ben went free of charge, they lose their trip. My heart is grieving for this most AWESOME Christian Family who are all the examples of what being a true devoted Christian is all about.I’d love to tell you more, but there isn’t enough room for this, just the love of a friend who has seen what being A Christian Family is all about.I pray that this Family would receive all the many Blessings they are in need of. Thank you & God Bless all who read this.

I would like to nominate the tea party moms for taking back America. For too long the very people we elect to serve us end up screwing us. It is good to see American’s stand up and remind the politicians who the real bosses are!
God Bless America and may the bosses win

The most inspiring person I ever met is Colleen Whealdon-Haught. She has many accomplishments, including graduating from college and law school with honors, practicing law, service in the Navy, and achievements in bicycle racing. I met Colleen while she was volunteering at a cycling race this spring. She couldnโt ride the demanding event (which she had in the past) because she was suffering from advanced metastatic cancer and chemotherapy treatments. This was her second bout with breast cancer, and she was only 30.
Colleen went on to ride her bike as long and as hard as she could. In late April she turned in a fantastic time on a 70 mile ride, the Tour of the Tucson Mountains, an event that was dedicated to her. Stepping out of her comfort zone, she spent time and energy raising funds for the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Her efforts resulted in more than $40,000 in contributions for this organization that raises awareness about cancer and supports those stricken by it.
Throughout all of this, Colleen has been dignified, gracious, and generous. Her strength and courage are inspiring to anyone who met her.

The Most Inspiring Person of 2009 for me is my 2nd husband and best friend Dennis Beckford.
Dennis was my first true over 30 years ago. We parted and was reunited after my first hus band passed away.
I had lost everything after my first husband passed away because I had helped family and friends. I had very bad break down and became very depressed I almost couldn’t pull myself back up. Dennis never gives up on me. A year ago I was told I had a brain tumor which somtimes affect my personiality he’s always there and has made things happen for the good for us.
Thank you for your time.

I nominate Dudley, the estate sale man! (I have forgotten his last name!)
My wife an I were moving into a retirement apartment and had many things to dispose of that we couold not take. So we contacted several estate sales firms and interviewed them. The one we chose was Dudley’s. The reasons we chose his firm was that he told us two things: That he made a ticket for each item sold, and, when he found out I was a clergyman, that he was a Deacon in his church!
The sale went well. They had tagged each item and presented them all in an appealing arrangement.
When the sale was over Dudley gave us tickets for around seventy items and wrote out a check for them! The only problem, we had made an inventory of the things we were selling and over fifty of those items had disappeared, without any ticket!
Now, how does Dudley deserve to be listed as “the most inspiring”?
Well, he has forced me to think very hard every time I now say The Lord’s Prayer! When I get to those words, “Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trepsass against us”, I find that my faith is really pushed! And I truly understand why we ought to call Christ “Master”!

I would like to nominate our very own Pastor Dettra Renee Hicks. She works tirelessly and sacrifices for the common good of others. She does not take any profit for the proceeds of our church. She works hard whether it is 3 a.m. in the morning or 12 p.m. at night. She can be found at the hospital praying for someone or alleviating some young mother’s stress by buying groceries fresh from the store. Our pastor has helped many other pastors in starting their own church. She sacrifices beyond even her family needs.I have actually seen her give people clothes, shoes, food, pay their electric, and gas bills, evwent their water bills. Her husband is so generous until he takes the money he earns at work to support the church bills. My pastor is currently donating funds to assist missions overseas. She has laid hands on many people who have been sick with terminal illness such as kidney disease, cancer and by the power of the Living God they have been healed. She cares about the soul of an individual.I thank God for her efforts and the love and compassion her and her husband have and exhibit for any individual in need of Christ’s love.I would like to nominate her because she exemplifies what a Christian should be!

I am nominating not one, but both myown house up for mortgage, for the church, disobedient members and just everyday life struggles, they never complain. This is all only after of course leaving both of their secular jobs. They are truly Pastors after God’s own heart. With the economy the way it is now and Pastors, Pastor Jason Johnson and Fran Johnson. They are both two of the most loving, selfless and courageous servants, I know. Although they struggle with their own personal matters, putting a daughther through college, putting their everything being downsized, they stand firm in the Lord and the power of His might. No one goes hungry, they’re always making sure the congregation is fed, spiritually and physically. It’s truly awesome to find one great Pastor, but God has blessed me with two, who always put everyone and everything before themselves. Whether sick, run down, and just plain old disgusted, they never give up helping others, for the glory of God. All of our rewards come from God, but they truly deserve it. Thank you in advance. Cheryl D.

My inspiration not only comes from God and the amazing works He has done for me but for all of those who tried to downplay me. All of the people who were put in my life temporarily to make me lose focus and become something that I will never be. My inspiration comes from the many blessings that God has given me, even when I didn’t deserve them. My inspiration comes from my Mom who passed May 3rd, 1980 from Breast Cancer who had dreams but did not live long enough to carry them out but I am still here and she would be proud of my accomplishments.

I am nominating my church Pastor Mike Glover and wife Phyllis Grover. They have been the most loving, and dedicated, and selfness persons I have ever met. I’d like to thank Pastor Mike for all his continous prayers for those in time of need and for all the prayers he has done for our family, as well. His wife is the most wonderful woman and very christian that she goes out of her way to serve our women and leads them to know our God more.
May the Lord continue to bless them both and just continue to reach out to those that are in need of GOD. Let’s all pray for our country and families that they someday soon, accept the Lord in their lives and know him, more than ever.

I would like to nominate Sen Ted Kennedy as the person who truly inspired me in 2009. Despite overwhelming odds he fought a courageous battle with cancer to the end while showing the same courage on behalf of the dispossessed and marginalized. In this age when so many well meaning people fear to speak out for those who have no job, no access to health care, no home, and consequently no voice in the halls of power, Sen Kennedy never hesitated to put his ideals into action. I’m reminded of a speech by his brother, Pres John F Kennedy in which the President said “Those who do nothing are inviting shame as well as violence. Those who act boldly are recognizing right as well as reality”.
Ted Kennedy was one of those rare persons who not only recognized right but incorporated it into his life; and he was never afraid to act boldly. He will always be a source of inspiration to me, along with his two brothers

The person I would nominate as hero of the year, though not being my hero, I still love him, would be Pres. Barack Obama for competing for his home town to get the summer olympics and making some unpopular decisions. I find people who criticize him to be hypocrites.

I AM NOMINATING REV. DERESSA TO BE THE MOST INSPIRING PERSON OF 2009. HE, WHILE ATTENDING COLLEGE, FULL TIME, ALSO CARED FOR HIS DYING PARENTS, AT HOME, UNTIL THEIR RESPECTIVE DEATHS OCCURRED. AT THE SAME TIME, AS THE ELDER OF THE FAMILY NOW, HE RAISED HIS SIX BROTHERS AND SISTERS, SEEING THAT THEY GOT THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL AND ON TO COLLEGE. NOW THE SIBLINGS HAVE ALL GRADUATED AND GONE ON TO GAINFUL EMPLOYMENT. AS FOR SAMUEL, HE GRADUATED AS VALADICTORIAN OF HIS COLLEGE CLASS, ALL WHILE CARING FOR HIS PARENTS AND SIBLINGS AND PREACHING AT THE SAME CHURCH OF HIS FATHER. THAT IS QUITE AN ACCOMPLISHMENT FOR ANYONE. HE IS NOW IN POST GRADUATE STUDIES AND DREAMS TO BECOME A DOCTOR OF EDUCATION, SO HE CAN TEACH OTHERS IN HIS CITY. BY THE WAY, HE DID ALL OF THIS IN A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY. THIS REMARKABLE MAN LIVES IN ADDIS ABABA ETHIOPIA.

Gayle Downing is a manager at the Quality Inn where I am also employed. She found out about three months ago that she had cancer for the second time, a different kind of cancer but through it all she never lost her faith and will power to go on with the fight. She is only about 56 which is about my age. She is a very strong person and I believe that she will win her fight with the help of the Lord and maybe through her faith be a inspiration to others.

Jesus Christ would always the one inspires me. His teachings result into more loving: love your neighbor as yourself, pray for those who hurt you. Take care of your enemy. As it happens all the time to me-I wonder a lot as to what would happen in the world we the people have turned into a jungle if we love each other. There would be more peace in the world. The human race has developed the most deadly weapons of mass destruction to destroy each other. Are that satanic to drop heavy bombs on each other–killing millions, I mean millions. Example–from the information collected–the US killed over six million people in Viet-Nam. For God sake–how tragic that was! In Iraq–millions are killed and more millions were maimed. Please. When do we stop the madness? Who were the planners and executers? We must love each other. Period./ The greatest teaching our Lord Jesus Christ is to love one another.
