The Senate confirmed Elena Kagan Thursday as the 112th justice to the Supreme
Court. She will be the fourth woman justice.
Her confirmation vote of 63-37 happened a year after Justice Sonia Sotomayor won enough votes to be confirmed as the first Latina to sit on the high court. Elena Kagan joins Justices Sotomayor and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, making it the first time three women served at the same time.
