Category: The Spirit of Weight LossWhat’s Your Favorite Food?
Most people have a favorite food, one that they keep returning to throughout their lives. For some it’s a comfort. For others it’s an addiction. My favorite food was ice cream. I would eat lots of it, eventually developing an addiction to it. It got so bad that I needed to eat it every night to fall asleep. To lose weight, I knew I needed to stop eating ice cream, but it was beyond me – I needed divine assistance. You see, ice cream was not only my favorite food, it became something that I needed desperately.
Let’s examine your favorite food: What does it look, taste, smell and feel like when you eat it? What are some of the ingredients that go into this food? Is it colorful? Is it cooked or raw, baked, simmered, or sautéed? Frozen, refrigerated, dried or stored in a box or carton? Where does it come from? Is it naturally grown or does someone make it? For fun, you could describe the food in infinite detail and then wait until the end of this journal entry to actually name it. Or just let us know up front – your choice.

My very favorite comfort food is homemade (preferably with some chunks) mashed potatoes. I fixed it for my daughters while they were growing up--the smell, the texture, the memory of sitting down at (dysfunction as hell, but still family) holiday dinners) all come back whenever i eat this. Dark chocolate is a necesity for mental health. the trick whihc i haven't always mastered is not overeating either one to compensate for whatever I know I'm compensating for at the time, but don't seem to care, needing the immediate gratifcation instead. Comments? Ideas? Karen

My favorite food is extra crispy Kentucky Fried Chicken with slaw and biscuits with jelly. The smell, the taste is sooo good. We don't eat out much so it is such a treat not to have to prepare the meal. I avoid the intersection because you can smell it just driving down the street (and Pizza Hut is across the street). Not being able to afford it often is probably a blessing.
I lost 50 pounds several years ago but it is a daily fight to keep it off. I try to eat healthy but certain foods are so tempting when someone offers them to me. I'm not good at portion control. I want the whole bucket of chicken!

My absolute favorite food is homemade macaroni and cheese. It has to be made with extra sharp white cheddar cheese. I don't like the way the orange cheeses look. I know it is my comfort food. I like mac and cheese that is creamy. I also like the way it smells as it bakes in the oven.
