Category: Living with Grander VisionBill Hybels Day 6: Above My Present Situation
Welcome back to Beliefnet's exclusive Bill Hybels devotional, "Living with Grander Vision." This feed will appear in your profile every day for three full weeks. Did you miss any entries? Just stay subscribed, and the feed will begin again at the end of its cycle.
CHARGES HAD BEEN brought against him, though none of them were true. He was being called a troublemaker, the apostle Paul was, a rebellious ringleader who insisted on stirring up riots. For more than two years, he sat in a prison cell unjustly. Two years. More than seven hundred days. Surely he wondered, Will I ever get out of here?
When called to stand trial, having no idea if two years would then turn to twenty, Paul trumpeted hope, recounted his conversion--telling of the light he'd found that was brighter than the noonday sun (Acts 22:6)--and beckoned even the king to come to faith in God. "I wish for you not my chains," Paul said essentially, "but my change." (Acts 26:29)
What situations of your own are you "waiting to get out of" before you'll trumpet hope to those around you? Who might benefit from hearing your faith story today, especially if told from the seat of tough circumstances?

Don't give up! God usually lets these things happen to bring us to greater dependency upon Him and to bring us closer to Him. He doesn't want us depending upon ourselves so much. Keep praying and keep believing in Him. I will keep praying for you as well, for it says in the Scriptures that "where two or more of you are gathered in His name, there He is also." My family and I are in a somewhat similar situation to yours. My husband's heart is terribly enlarged on one side and he had a massive congestive heart failure that he shouldn't have lived through. He cannot be left alone. I have to work, even though I also had congestive heart failure and I have diabetes and asthma and arthritis and fibromyalgia and a back back injury where one of my students hurt me. If I don't work, we can't eat or pay bills, so my daughter (who turned 27 yesterday) moved home to take care of her step-father so he wouldn't have to go in a nursing home and I could continue to work. I have no more sick days, and every day I miss, they dock my paycheck. One month, my paycheck was $5.00! My sister helps shen she can, as do my nieces and nephews. The church helps. One month, the Salvation Army helped. We do know how hard this is for you, and we will keep praying for you. Don't give up hope, or your faith! Remember Job. It's one of my favorite stories...
