Do we need anything to be happy in life? What can we live without? What can we not? And what is true happiness, anyway? Ah, yes...some of life's most interesting questions... = = = = = = = = =...
finding happiness is like looking for an egg in the snow, which I had the opportunity to do this weekend, it was a joke we played with our kids, because we've never had Easter with this much snow or any for that matter. Well, anyway I marked all of the white eggs with our initials and hid them. We all looked and looked, and Although it was very hard it wasn't impossible, some found them, but some did not. Looking for happiness seemed daunting, just when I thought I had found the egg, it was something else, and I moved on. It finally dawned on me that the day was warm and my thought was, "I am wasting time out here, I'm going inside where it is warm, I could smell the great food, taste it too, hang out with my kids, family and friends, and enjoy the day for what it was and stop looking. I forgot about the egg. The next day we got up to take out the trash and you guessed it NO SNOW. There were the eggs we had been looking for just waiting. The happiness was there all along. Just hidden by a little snow. Not waiting for me to find it, but for me to let it reveal itself from all in it's way. It truly is in the BEING, I was happy all day just letting myself and the egg BE!!!!

I think you are right, Michelle Ma Belle. Happiness is a state of being, not so much a point of destination that we must journey to as it is the journey itself.
I think it can be thought of as what Neale distingues between living one's life "moment to moment" and living one's life "in the moment." If we are living moment to moment, we are always keeping one eye on the prize and saying to the self, if only I can reach this destination or that destination then I will finally Be Happy. The key is to choose the latter and live "in the moment", expressing ourselves as joy through whatever is showing up in the present moment, each and every moment of our lives.
The miraculous thing is that we can choose this state of being anywhere, anytime, and as you show, even with snow in springtime. All it takes is us asking who we are in this moment, who we declare ourselves to be (and this question can only be answered, of course, in concert with our feelings--the soul), and then choosing it with our thoughts, words, deeds.
Have a wonderful day everyone,
Love and Peace,
Michelle

To Tazman: If you have questions you can find most answers in conversations with god books or journey of soul by michael newton or brian weiss's teachings. It is only my opinion but indulging too much into metaphysics will not be helpful in leading this human existence. If you have read the story of little soul and the sun, the knowing until made into experience is in one way useless. So if your desire is curiosity , sure you can exhaust it by reading many other books on metaphysics but at the end of the day it pretty much boils down to how you interact with your family and other people in life. I can say day in night out love everyone, treat them same and yet when my family members call or come to me, behave completely different, rather selfishly. What is most interesting is as brian weiss teaches that the time in between lives is basically a reflection on how you treated others. Evolution of souls, dimensions, different planes of existence and other metaphysics elements are really not that much of a concern for us when we awaken ourselves there. It is indeed strange that in human consciousness curiosity leads the major part of us.
Thanks,
Akshay Mathur

I find it serves me to substitute the word 'need' with the phrase 'would serve'. 'Need' is an ungracious statement of lack and requirement in a gracious Universe such as ours. It is useful to acknowledge the obvious: certain input would serve our capacity to grow and flourish. This is the gracious way to anticipate the Universe naturally providing the input that serves our shared experience of evolution, physically and spiritually. We do not 'need' to understand these things of which we might choose to be aware. It would, however, serve our shared Awareness to understand these things since understanding always serves Awareness.
Grace is the awareness that choice might align potential with possibilities for purposes of appreciation. The Law of Grace is "All choice generates benefit for purposes of appreciation. In designing the experience of a Gracious Universe shared by many of different levels of awareness, such as ours, One Absolute Awareness would have only designed it this way. We do not 'need' to understand. It does serve One to understand this because One graciously designed it this way. One is graciously allowed the benefit of one's choices, gracious and ungracious alike. That is how our current experience came into being. The One thing Predestined by the Universe is Absolute Joy. We have the Free Will to Avoid it.
One 'avoids' with ungracious choices. We are all One. Namaste.
Namaste.

Yesterday I stood in the wind with my eyes closed and simply experienced the wind. I heard it in the trees and heard the leaves blowing on the ground. I heard God's voice in all these things. I was truly happy but I think a better word is content. To me, with happiness comes elation and an emotional high that I don't want to come down from. When I do come down, I spend so much time trying to get back on the "high" that I seem to lose sight of the things that really matter.....things like the wind. I my experience, with contentment comes peace, love, and understanding. It's at this point, I realize there is nothing else and all is well in my little invisible ball of serenity.
