Many people agree that God works in the lives of human beings. But the question is: How? Through unasked-for intercession? Through begged-for miracles? Through answered prayers?
And how about the problems of the world? Does God work with the world itself to solve those dilemmas? And again, if so...how? And what role, if any, does a mere human being have in all this?
We spoke in this space on Tuesday about some of these ideas, about the nature of Life itself, and about how human beings can work to solve the problems of our world. I ended that column with the statement...
THE ENERGY THAT CREATES THE SOLUTION MUST BE EQUAL
TO THE ENERGY THAT CREATES THE PROBLEM.
Moving on from there, I notice that Albert Einstein once observed that you cannot solve a problem using the same energy that created it. That is true. It must be a different kind of energy, but it must be of the same intensity.
Whether you call the tools that you use to create this energy intensity prayer, meditation, positive thinking, Personal Creation, the Mechanism of Manifestation, the “formula,” the “mystery,” or the “secret,” they are all the same thing. They are all part of a process than can bring us to greater happiness. They are all a functioning of, a putting to intentional use of, the process of life itself, the way of the universe.
This is God’s process. This is the way God moves. Émile Coué called this process “optimistic autosuggestion.” The application of his familiar conscious autosuggestion, “Every day, in every way, I'm getting better and better" (Tous les jours à tous points de vue je vais de mieux en mieux) is the best known example of what is often called Couéism or the Coué method, according to the writers of Wikipedia, who also tell us:
It was in 1913 that Coué founded the Lorraine Society of Applied Psychology. His book Self-mastery Through Conscious Autosuggestion caused a sensation on its publication in England in 1920 and in the United States two years later.
Such “revelations” have always caused a sensation—just as the revealing of “the secret” is causing today. Yet always the sensation tends to die down, and the world returns to its Old Ways.
Historically humanity has sparked itself with a glimmer of hope, then returned to its sadness and its anguish, its turmoil and its conflict, its pain and its suffering. For the forces mounted against New Revelations have throughout the ages (and yes, even in this “enlightened” time) beaten back the message of inner personal empowerment in favor of an edict of continuing reliance on sources exterior—namely, religion, government, and Those In Charge.
That’s been the history, but all that can change if we will but place ourselves in the category of Those in Charge.
Will humanity do it?
I believe the answer is yes, and that it will happen when People Power and God Power are reconciled; when one is not made to devalue or dishonor the other.
And we'll talk more about this tomorrow.

BryOnTheRoad: In an earlier posting you became annoyed with me over what you perceived to be "Bush bashing". Although it may not be evident to you, I really don't dislike Bush. I am disappointed in the direction he has taken the country and, honestly, I'm not truly sure how much of that he is directly responsible for himself. (Which doesn't take away the fact that he is going to be the one held accountable for what happened during his term in office.) In fact, I think Bush himself is a decent man. I think that without the influence of Cheney and Rumsfeld and Rove and Atwood and Delaney, etc., this man would have had a very different presidency. He got to be a BIG fish--in a pond filled with pirahna!
Honestly, I do not believe that Bush had the strength of character to withstand the forces of those around him. He flanked himself with the formidable and ruthless! I think he just got in too deep and has been wildly dog-paddling his way through this presidency ever since. I just don't believe he was up to the task to begin with, and MAYBE he was the PERFECT person to be president because much of the apathy that existed in this nation before his presidency has changed to interest--and engagement with the political process. I wish Shrub nothing but the most enjoyable retirement.
Insofar as abortion is concerned--well, I am also troubled by it and I am a supporter of the right to choose. Women are NOT casual about the decision to have an abortion. It does sound duplicitous to not regard all life in all forms highly, but it is also important to allow others to exercise their free will to decide for themselves how they will live THEIR lives. We are not here to make others comfortable with the decisions or choices we make, or to conform to their ideas of how we ought to live or be. The striving for conformity is what has created so much of the trouble we're seeing on the planet now. The Catholics in Ireland want the Protestants to conform, the fundamentalist Muslims want the Jews to conform, the fundamentalist Christians want the Metaphysicians to conform (you know all about that scary Harry Potter!), the heterosexuals want the homosexuals to conform, and the whites want the blacks to conform...why? So that they can be more comfortable--instead of doing the work they need to do on themselves to BE comfortable--regardless of what IS. Isn't that truly the most God-like way to be?
Hi Dara - Thanks ! Your commentary could only come from a kind, caring, honest, loving and caring woman.
I'm in the minority for sure.
Bush is thinking about doing anything he can - to contain Muslim radicals who are going to keep working on getting a nuke.
I wish there was another way Dara.
I respect that you think there is a better way ... and I don't see it ... nor does Bush, Rumsfeld or Cheney.
Am I being paranoid to think that one day Iran could hand over nukes to Insane Terrorists - who will start lobbing them all over the planet ... and we may not even know where they have then hid ?
Maybe.
It's clear to me that the only people on Earth who are ruthless enough to kill millions of people with nukes ... are Islamic Terrorists.
I believe very strongly in wars - when we have enemies like Hitler or Islamic nuts.
We almost waited too long - and barely had enough time to fight insanity only 60 years ago.
You must think that my scenario of Muslims with Nukes is not going to happen ...
I agree .... only if we take action to force it not to happen.
Muslims are never going to stop trying to wipe out Infidels.
Please know - that I deeply admire and respect your desire to try peace, Dara.
Peace is only attained after we destroy those who prevent peace from happening. .... unless it's not .... and I am not willing to take the chance that we wake-up one morning without options.
We have options today because of wars.
BryOnTheRoad: I doubt that I will be the one to convince you that trying a different way is a good idea now. I've heard that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result. War isn't working! The only folks truly benefiting from war are the one's creating war machinery. They're making gazillions of dollars doing this--The Industrial War Complex that Eisenhower warned the nation about before he left office.
When a million people were being hacked to pieces in Rawanda--well, that to me was a good time to step in and stop the unacceptable from happening. There ARE times to take preventative measures, or to stop those hell bent on doing us/others harm. We have a right and an obligation to defend ourselves, our interests and our well-being.
I'm wondering if the question we ought to be asking is: What do you want? What do you want MORE than seventy-two vestal virgins in paradise? What will make your life so worthwhile here that terrorism just isn't a consideration, much less an option? I'm betting--I know, I know, as naive as it sounds--that there is an answer to these questions. I think we need to find out what that answer is and therein we'll find the solution to stopping the terrorism. Be well...
All I can say is Iran must be capable of holding a grudge longer than most other nations. The only thing I wonder is, why did not the U.N., England and America challenge Persia (Iran) for the Northern Kingdom when they decided to create the State of Israel. That is the crux of the problems we have experienced all over the world, it would appear.
If you can articulate to the Palestinians how they should be happy with their half-brother's descendants creating the State of Israel at their expense, do so. After all, they stayed behind for up to 600 years and had homes where they were forced to give up, and they are prevented from getting to their families in some places, live in poverty, while their relatives have a land of plenty, and the U.S., the U.N., England and a lot of other nations defend their right to do so. If you want to call the Palestinians terrorists, it would appear that Israel might be guilty of Zionism. The Moslem world is acting in support of the Palestinians. That is the problem in a nutshell.
I don't know how it will be solved with the State of Israel being situated where it is and with no acknowledgement of how it has duped the world by showing the story of Abraham being given the land (consciousness) as far as he could see east (inner self), west (outer self, north (consciousness) and south (subconscious), and only for his children and for his children's children. The scripture says AND MANY OTHER NATIONS.
There are metaphysical messages behind the Allegories in the Bible that are always addressed from the Western perspective, instead of the Eastern perspective, more specifically - Hebrew language.
To Neale,
Wow.
Thank you
