Is Hurricane Ike God’s will? Is the possible devastation of Galveston, Texas God’s will? Who creates our reality, God, or us — or no one in particular…just….Fate….?
If you have come to this blog for the first time today, welcome to Sunday School All Week, an ongoing discussion about God and Life and our place in all of this — your place and mine. We have been discussing here the notion of Creation, and of God’s Will, and of the place within the creative process that human beings occupy.
Are we ourselves ultimately responsible for our lives and all the events in them, as the New Spirituality teaches? Or is everything that happens on the earth and in the universe (as well as in your individual life, of course) the Will of God (and therefore, logically, the creation of God)?
Now before we get further into this exploration today, I would like to take a moment to pray for all the people living in the Gulf of Mexico, and especially in Galveston and Houston, and they seek to, quite literally, “ride out the storm” that has been named Hurricane Ike.
I opened my Internet Browser this morning to find some of the more dire words I have ever heard about weather in the United States.
CNN was reporting that the weather service was speaking today of “a towering wall of water, possibly up to 22 feet high, crashing over the Galveston Bay shoreline as the brunt of Ike comes ashore.”
That wall of water could send floodwaters surging into Houston, more than 20 miles inland, the CNN report said. The CNN report went on…
“All neighborhoods … and possibly entire coastal communities … will be inundated during the peak storm tide. Persons not heeding evacuation orders in single family one- or two-story homes will face certain death.”
So before we go one step further, this prayer:
Dear God…Send your help and your strength now to all the people whose lives are being touched this day by this storm. Help them to find safety, and fold them in your loving arms. Bring each person, Dear God, the outcome and the experience that is their soul’s agenda, and keep them out of harm’s way if that agenda will allow. Help all of us, as well, to understand that we do not know the journey of each individual soul, but that You do, and will always see that this Will is done. Amen.
And now, let us explore some things in these days ahead. FIrst, what is the purpose of prayer? I’ve just said a prayer there. Why? For what purpose? Am I asking an all powerful God to stop something terrible from happening in the lives of some people? If God creates everything, why is this happening to begin with? How does this all work? Is it like this….(?)….God creates something terrible (like Hurricane Ike) and then, if enough of us pray to Him, He “rescinds” the damage that could be done….or reduces it to only a few?
This incident, in our lives right now, raises remarkably important questions, if we believe in a God at all.
(1) Why do things happen the way they happen?
(2) Can God change the things that are happening, at Will?
(3) If God can perform a ‘miracle’ and change what is happening, why did God bother to make it happen to begin with?
(4) What is going on here, on the Earth, and what role, if any, do human beings play in the events that occur in our individual and collective lives?
Are certain things simply “non-causal”? In other words, is it possible that certain things happen that are caused by neither God nor man? Shall we call these things, simply, “fate”? Or is there really a Third Party involved in all of this…the Devil?
Is the Devil creating ‘Ike’…with God doing whatever He can to stop it, or at least reduce its harmful effect?
Is it possible that neither the Devil nor God have anything to do with it? Is it possible that there IS no such thing or being as ‘The Devil’? For that matter, is it possible that there is no such thing or being as ‘God’? Are we just making this whole thing up?
Is it possible that there IS a God, but that WE are responsible — all of us human beings — for what is going on here on the Earth? If so, how far does our responsibility extend? To alal the circumstances of our individual lives? To the events in our community? In our nation? In our entire world?
What about galactic events? Who ‘controls’ them? Who creates them?
How about this scenario….’God’ created the Universe, but now stands apart from it, watching it “do its thing,” whatever that is, and intervening when called upon, but otherwise allowing things run pretty much amok….?
I mean, what is the story here?
Any answers, class?
Deb Reilly believes she has the answers. If I understand her correctly, she believes that we humans are not responsible for our lives…but that we are responsible for how we react and respond to our lives. As she put it in her most recent post…
I didn’t choose my parents.
I didn’t choose my sex.
I didn’t choose the country I was born in.
I didn’t choose my sisters and brothers.
I didn’t choose my childhood.
I chose to listen to God at age 50, and listening saved my life.
Well, boy, do I hear that. I, too, chose to “listen to God” at age 50, and it saved my life also! Wow! Isn’t that wonderful? I mean, that Deb and I had the same experience! Yet it seems that Deb and I heard somewhat different things; received a somewhat different message from The Divine. How is that possible, do you think? Is one of us “right” and the other of us “wrong”? What do you think?
Class member “Arthur” entered a huge and wonderful post — way too long to re-print here — but you may wish to go back to the most previous blog and check out his commentary.
I was most touched, though, by the posting of “LLB”…and this one I have to quote, at least in part, because it moved me so…
LLB was talking about her life, and the many, many challenges she has faced and continues to face. She said, in part…
And right when it looks like things might get a little better–I have to go and need another expensive referral to a doctor again. Oh, right, I’m creating this, I want it! I WANT to have acid reflux so bad I’m in pain 24-7 and a cancer risk, and it’s going to cost thousands of dollars to fix that I don’t have! I want to have surgery again…yeah…yeah…
Oh, my gosh, LLB…I am so saddened when I read this…and I understand your deep frustration and the pain, both physical and emotional, that you experience. I know that it is clear to you that you did not consciously “want” all this, or “choose” it, or “create” it.
Yet your circumstance continues to bring up, and loudly amplify, the questions I am asking here. If you have not, at some level, “created” these outcomes…working on concert with others, including an entire society which does not care enough to take care of all of its own members…then who has? Who has created this? God?
LLB goes on…
I’m talking about teetering on the edge here, getting older every day, and knowing there’s health problems that HAVE to be taken care of that are going to send you into bankruptcy. I’m talking about not knowing how the heck you can have a needed operation anyway, when you cannot possibly afford to be out of work for any recuperation time.
I’m talking about wondering where we’re going to be when we’re too old and sick to work. Where is the money going to come from to keep us in this house with food, lights, and heat? Social security ain’t gonna cut it, and may not even be there anymore. What’s going to happen when I’m 80 and never earned the money to pay off all this debt??
I hear you again, my friend. I hear you. And we need, all of us, to create some kind of community response to these kinds of needs, which are being faced by thousands and thousands of us. It is within the Human Family that we will and can solve these problems. Yet we have created a national and global society which says, in effect, “every man to himself.” This is called, within some political circles, “personal responsibility.” But you and your husband, LLB, have TAKEN responsibility for your lives,,,and STILL no relieve, STILL no respite, STILL no help when you need it most.
Wait! Wait! I HAVE it! More tax relief for the rich! Yes, that’s it! What’s the matter with me?! Of course, extend the Bush tax cuts, which allows that 5 percent of the population that already has millions to have even more! Yes, yes, that’s it! Yea, yea, John McCain! Boo, and double boo on Barack Obama. He wants to cut taxes for 95% of Americans. What is the world is the matter with him? Typical Democrat! Tax and spend! Tax and spend! And spend on WHAT! Social programs to help the poor? Geez, what is this guy thinking???
Ah, yes, LLB…I hear you. And here is what you must know: No one is suggesting that you created all by yourself the challenges that you face. My book Happier Than God explains this all very clearly. I mean, this process that causes such suffering and pain in our world. It is the result of Collective Consciousness, LLB. Not YOUR consciousness, but the consciousness of the Whole of Humanity, of the Whole of This Nation, of your neighbors and friends and all of us who create together this sometimes experience of a “hell hole” that we call Life On Earth.
We are going to take an action on Nov. 4 — election day — that will do a great deal to affect our Collective Reality, my friend, and I ama deeply hoping that our decision in this Fall’s presidential election will reflect our higher-evolving Collective Consciousness, and not the consciousness of the past.
i absolutely LOVE what Jay Leno had to say about this the other night…
“It’s a very strange political campaign. Out on the campaign trail, John McCain and Sarah Palin are talking about how they stood up to the Republican Party, they fought the Republican establishment, and they battled Republicans. Their message: vote Republican.”
But enough about politics. I know that most of you feel that God and Politics do not mix, should not mix, and that it is somehow “wrong” to mention one in the space of the other. But I am here to tell you all that unless we marry our highest thoughts (read that: our thoughts about God and Life and How We Are Going to Be With Each Other) with our politics, we are spiritually bankrupt. We say one thing but do another.
I hear you, LLB, when you tell me…
We do not live in some big, fancy place. We’ve slashed our lives to the bare bone, we drive beat-up old cars.
You know, a little bit, just a little bit of worldly success could fix this. It really could. OK, so I’m a shit, I have a horrible attitude, I just don’t want to change, and my fate is all my fault, and you can yell at me all you want to, but my husband is a good person who has the best outlook and more faith than I could ever have in ten million years, and look where he’s at. Maybe I don’t deserve better, but this person really, really does.
You know, just this summer things could have turned around and gotten dramatically better. We’ve worked and worked and worked and worked for it for years. So many years I had hope, I visualized, I believed, it kept me going. And instead, things got worse.
Where is God, anyway? Hello??
That is the Question of Our Time, LLB. That is the Question of Our Time.
Class? Any answers?

We don’t create what we “want.” – UNLESS we put our attention, energy, focus, and inspired action into it. Just because we created it and can somehow account for it, doesn’t assume that we put it there because we wanted it. It means it’s there because attention, energy, focus, and action (whether inspired or default) was given to whatever it is we’re looking at. Nothing can expand unless attention and energy are given to it – whether wanted or not wanted.

What comes around goes around. But be happy the world won’t distroy.
God he is right here, with all of us. If you didn’t noticed. He is asking about where he is. Senile comes with years they say.
Hello to you Neale. Do take some time to give us the answers. We like to learn from you as a class. Please, please some invoice….

Suggesting that someone pray to God is not saying I’ve got all the answers. As in yesterday’s blog, you are putting words in my mouth.
That seems neither loving nor just. What’s really bothering you Neale?

Wow, tough questions and sensitive for folks going “Thru” stuff. IMHO, these events like Ike are natural cycles that occur on Planet Earth. I believe this has nothing to do with God directly, but when we get into the path of these things and events, we begin to ask, “Wow, God, where are you? I’m losing my house or life, etc.
We are all responsible for what occurs in our lives, God has given us God consciousness, but it’s up to us to discover who and what we are. I think, we identify so much with our bodies, fears, and stories that we believe and tell ourselves, that we forget that we are God manifesting in Human form.
I have learned to never under estimate the power of belief, for it makes life real for us filtered through a belief and giving life to our worldviews. When we are sick or in pain, is it Us that is in pain or our bodies, for me, what we believe about ourselves draws that energy to us, I mean real belief, not just talking or trying to believe something, rather what we believe and accept with certainty, this will become our experience.
I hope I did not offend anyone, I’m just expressing my Point of View

I ready the very first of this and to answere the first question in this Sunday school issuse,,, Ike is the creation of our Father and if Galveston is completely destroyed then yes this could be very much his will.We are created in his image we have the rights and the wrongs inbed in each one of us,once again a will of our Father. Each person is accountable for themselfs because of this ability to know right from wrong. So think of it this way if you will…because we know right from wrong maybe our Father [willed] Ike into our lifes to get our attention.I haven’t read hardly any of this; but I’ll say this world[ God's ] isn’t that of a great prize even to ourselfs. If you put time into a precious project just to see your love ones, friends, children and most of all ‘people whom don’t even know you’reck it and or destroy it, wouldn’t you do something to stop it?Wouldn’t you attempt to get their attention? You bet you would…YOU would IKE out on them so to speak. That is our nature here on earth. Our Father as a parent is smaking our hands. We are toying with Ozone he is letting us know we are destroying his master piece.Pay atention or welcome the ice age. But be a man and pick on the guilty not the creator who is watching his people/chilren take down what he put together. And Deb.I am so happy for you that you found your way to our Father…even though you are 50 didn’t you and don’t you still feel like a child in his presence?
God Bless you all

“God’s Will”…Y(Ike’s)!!!
I apologize for answering a question with a question. But where does this affliction come from, that yearning to impose our will (or understanding) onto God? Why do we insist on blaming for anything?
The prayer, very sneaky, a great spiritual trick I must say! I believe in prayer and the associated energy. And Neale’s sharing of this prayer will certainly have some affect, on something. Everyone reading that post said the word “God”, reiterating his plea and solidifying it as a “will”. Even skeptical Atheist’s called out to God while reading the prayer, albeit to their disbelief, “they” were / are a part of us…for that moment. It’s beautiful, unity.
While I was caring for my great uncle who was dieing from Pancreatic Cancer, I realized how beautiful life truly is. Seeing Uncle Charlie take that last breath, emptiness in his eyes of panic, I tried to reassure him that he had been a perfect dad, father, husband…et al. It seemed so scary for him and for those around us at the time.
Trying to make sense of these emotions, I asked myself where does this passion for life come from, which makes the miracle of death so scary. Well they say birth is a miracle and I can’t see any reason that death itself is not part of this miracle. I smoke, burn oil, eat foods that abuse my body, and basically have lived a beautiful 41 years, thus far. This far supersedes the life’s pan of folks back in the day…when life spans were in the twenties. Yes, way back in the day! But were their lives worth any less than ours, because they lived a quarter of the life we experience, by average?
Help me understand why someone who may pass at 40 or younger died too young, “it’s just a shame” is often uttered? And what about a beautiful miracle baby, in Palin’s case, born with Downs’s syndrome, isn’t the Love the same? When we lose those close to us, are we not sad because we know we won’t be generating anymore memories together, we miss them? It’s kind of greedy on our part to want someone to live longer, per our “will”…no? I’ve spent a lifetime without a father, he died in Vietnam, and I have no memories of this and can blame no one. Certainly not God, and like other life events that could be considered by some as tragedies, there is no blame, rather forgiveness. I’ve lived twice as long as my father, every moment, each day of breath a blessing, a gift as I see it. But I’m no better man than my father.
It all seems misdirected; we cherish birth and life (in most cases), yet fear and try to assign blame for illness and death. I can’t make sense of it all and am just sharing. But I do know that I’ll Love every moment, healthy, sick, scared…dying, as we spend our lives doing. Or at least try, because the alternatives to Love, Forgiveness, Joy, Compassion, Unity, Faith, Peace, are not of me, or my “will”. Every day of life is “cheating” death. But does a bitter filled life of hate and blame, not “cheat” oneself of Life?
We should all be thankful for cheating death as long as we do. In most cases, we eclipse the life spans of our predecessors. So to shift blame to God, humanity, worldly events for the world we endure, well isn’t that an exercise in futility? Hell, I don’t know…lol

Well….maybe its just that the air pressure, atmospheric pressure, water vapor and wind just so happen to have the perfect conditions for a hurricane to occur, just like any other rainy day but on a much larger scale. Its not an ‘abnormal’ phenomenon by any means. Perhaps it is no different than all the inner workings of our own bodies, something that just IS? However, throughout the world, we all live in areas that are prone to hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, drought, wildfires, heatwaves, ice storms, and many other natural occurances. Do we cause all this or does God? Or is it just a part of living upon this planet?
The news showed a Christian church in Galveston standing in a field and praying/commanding the wind to cease. If their church and homes are saved, was it God or was it their creation? If their church and homes are lost, is it just an act of nature unaffected by us or did they not believe enough? I don’t know that this question is conclusively answered but I do believe that for whatever reason things occur, it is surely LOVING to send prayers, hopes and good wishes to those in the affected areas, to do whatever we can to proactively prevent tragedy from occuring where possible and have hope for the future, and to give our hands to lift up and assist when it occurs.
But it probably wouldn’t hurt either, if the TV and media didn’t work up people’s fears by focusing on the cataclysmic terror of mother nature. After Katrina and Rita, my family went to help and witnessed destruction from Alabama all the way to Texas, people just like you and me wondering, “Where do we go from here”. Regular people reached out to help in whatever way they could while the government failed miserably. Perhaps people’s grave disappointment provided another opportunity for our govt to get it right and for people to grow stronger in love. Or maybe its just the weather and we can learn from our mistakes… I don’t know, I just know GOD IS LOVE and we’re all in this together. LOVE to all. Blessings to all and my best, highest thoughts to those in the hurricane area including my family and friends there.
LOVE!!!

Here we go again. Neale, it is not that I feel that God and Politics don’t mix and are somehow wrong to be talked about in a forum such as your blog. Its how that talk is presented. Like it or not, your opinions carry the weight of God with them, Neale, and many people take what you say with as much adoration as a RCC listening to their priest. You do not hide your support of Obama and your distain of McCain. In the interest of complete disclosure, that’s fine, but the implications in your support of one and the rejection of the other is a better/worse statement. And that is not in alignment with the information of CWG as I understand that message.
Neale, the democrats are not going to do anything to better the human condition any more than the Republicans are. The collective Government of the US is functioning as much from separateness as the rest of the planet. To put your faith, support and recommendation in one over the other is out of context with CWG, as I understand them.
The power of the information carried in CWG, the foundations you have started and even this blog is that they are working with individuals directly. The more individual consciousness is shock up and stirred out of the habitual thinking patterns of the past, the more humanity, through individuals collectively, will move toward a world functioning from, “WE ARE ALL ONE”!
If you are voting for the democrats of save us and supply us with all the social programs to solve our social problems; it has not been working and will not work in the future. If you are voting for the Republicans to clear the way for us to be personally responsible for ourselves; it hasn’t worked in the past and will not work in the future.
It will only come about as we as individuals begin shaking ourselves out of the past “stinken thinken” and begin consciously directing our every thought, word and deed from “WE ARE ALL ONE”. As more and more of us begin getting off of our collective ‘arses’ and begin treating each other as ourselves, then things will begin changing. There are people in LLB’s life that are aware of her situation. If they were functioning from “WE ARE ALL ONE” they would all be at her home fixing her floor and taking up a collection for her surgeries. As we pull together and build more and more mass behind “WE ARE ALL ONE” eventually the politicians would begin seeing that the public is no longer going to tolerate the same old – same old, and they would being reflecting back to the public its own changes.
In the coming election, vote your heart, vote for the person or party that most closely aligns with your vision of the next greatest version of the grandest vision you have ever held about whom you are and what your country can become. But if you want the same old – same old, vote for a republican or a democrat. If you really want change do not vote for anyone that currently holds office and put someone new in. If 60% or more of congress is replaced I think they will start getting the message.
My humble 2 cents.

Dear Everyone,
Is there a huge difference between saying that you consciously create and saying that whatsoever you ask of God believing, you will have?
I mean either way, there is a desire that comes about which you had a part in. Either you created it or you applied your faith to it. GOD is GOD either way, LOL… I mean, I’m laughing because we argue about who gets to be the DO-ER instead of just being grateful that something very awesome is occuring to people on all sides of the belief-o-meter!
Christians, Muslims, Jews…. your prayers and desires are being answered by GOD!!! Isn’t that awesome and doesn’t it make you feel grateful and happy and full of hope? WOW!!! That’s great…
And believers in New Thought or whatever we shall call it…. your thoughts and intentions and desires are being answered by GOD!!! Isn’t that awesome and doesn’t it make you feel grateful and happy and full of hope? WOW!!! That’s great….
Now can we all just allow each other that wonder and not force our own mode of transportation through life and eternity upon others? We all have the proof we need within us that we are all right and we are alright.
LOVE!!!

My feeling is that we co-create w/God the life we want. Like Neale said, not only individually but collectively. We are all one. With one another & with God. If it’s the divine truth or not, I don’t know. What matters is that this way of thinking gives me power to live my life (w/its circumstances & issues) the other way of thinking allows me to BE a ‘victim’ of my circumstances & life’s issues.
The question is what are we choosing to create?
So LLB maybe did not create the space she is in alone, but we (LLB, you, me – collectively) have. We also allow it to continue & in doing so we ARE choose it for ourselves. Let me give you an example of what I mean.
I live in Florida & Ike was coming right towards us at one point. Everybody was worried and nervous. But as it turned South, one news reporter said “Thank God it is going to Cuba.” with a big grin & sigh of relieve. So this is the collective conscience that we are choosing to created. Thank God, that it’s not my problem, but somebody else’s – let them deal with it. If that is what we are putting our attention, energy & focus into – then that is what we will continue to have until we choose something different.
Now the new question that shows up for me is what am I going to create?
Neale you gave me a good start with you prayer:
I am aligned with that thought and choose to create that I will put all my attention, energy & focus into that kind of collective consciousness.

dear unnamed person, beginning your post with laugh))
wanted to point something in your post….
1) re: your complaint against Neale for saying we are God, your anger and claims of blasphemy is not at all a new thing. They wanted to stone Jesus for saying the same thing:
John Chapter 10, verses 30-36 (KJV)
10:30 I and [my] Father are one. 31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. 32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. 34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? 35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; 36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the son of God?

(Listening closely)…Satan, is that you? lol
I appreciated the prayer, as I said before. I felt compassion in the request. I read every word, especially the direct request to God, with the “hope” that it wouldn’t fall upon deaf ears…amen.
Unfortunately, deaf ears aren’t the problem.
Where’s that forgiveness thing I hear so much about? What if our brother was praying to God? Gosh, to attack such a pure gesture, that of a relationship between him and God. Really? There’s no hope for Neale? Don’t your teachings provide for such forgiveness? By your word, does he not qualify for “salvation”? Com’on, really, never?
Well be assured, your prayer was heard too. Even that of Neale’s that you read. Although it seems when you addressed God that time, you held some skeptism in your heart because of the author. Interesting, projecting such feelings onto God.
I usually don’t chime in, but again, I appreciated the prayer and hope that anyone reading it will embrace the message…no matter their feelings of the source. It has to do with forgiveness, compassion, love, unity…etc. Kind of surprised these attributes didn’t stop your lashing out. But they didn’t stop me from replying to your statements either…lol Just give a guy a break, a chance…you know, forgive!
Peace, Mike – Four “open” eyes!

To..(someone?)
You might have me confused would be a better way of saying it. But to clear this up, I can pose a question or two back…because after all, I don’t know you, no matter what you espouse. But I can trust, or have faith that you are my brother, not unlike Neale.
I’ve read several of the books, but to pronounce the dismembering of God, well isn’t that an impossibility in itself? Your relationship with God, is that, yours. And no one can take that away…so fear not.
Let us allow our brother, as we do you, his relationship with God. Again, no matter your fears. If something, the “Devil”, could actually dismember God, wouldn’t that make God…not God? He’s not so weak, so to speak, maybe you don’t have to save God by your obvious defensive nature (I’m sorry for the shortness, please forgive me). What are you defending, your relationship with God?
Can Neale or anyone, ever take God from you? No, it just can’t happen, unless it is your “will”.
So with these questions and statements, is it I that is confused with myself? Or has a “Will” of one imposed their personal view (judments) onto God and everyone else, those who are primerly just sharing?
Take care, my friend.
Peace, Mike

To Lord, open their eyes, (sorry, but since you don’t sign your posts I have no other way of addressing you)
Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. I have never read, heard or seen Neale ever say, “…we don’t need God because God is the life force within us.” Where did you get that, except that it is what you have interpreted Neale to say? But then since it is not what Neale has ever said, what are you fighting against, except your own fears which are unfounded?
Why do you need to call him a clown when, again, what you are protesting against was never said by Neale?
In fact, the whole point of the CWG books is to develop a needed relationship with God. So if the delusion here is on your part, perhaps your prayer will open your eyes to see and your ears to hear what is really being communicated.
“I will never understand why God allows the things He does, sometimes to very nice and loving people. Never. BUt the alternate, to reject Him and the truth of Jesus that I know well, is not an option, because truly, there is nowhere else to go except someone’s program of self-promoting humanistic “oneness” fantasy’s and those are not the answer.”
I have not read, heard or seen anyone on this blog reject Jesus or the fundamentals of his teachings. Why not consider “…self-promoting humanistic ‘oneness’” as an answer? I really find very little contradiction, if any from what Jesus taught and what CWG presents. I do find an expansion and more depth in the CWG material than what is in the Bible. I think Jesus would find much to agree with in the CWG material as well. Is it not worth even considering?

Satan LOVES this.
LOVES it. If ‘he’ had an ass, he’d be laughing it off right now.
Please keep in mind that each and every one of us is doing our best. If I hadn’t gotten a good swift kick in the teeth by Satan from the start, there’s no telling what I’d be believing now. Satan is that good at what ‘he’ does. Aside from the fact that ‘he’ put’s himself above God, he’s almost brilliant. Then again, practice makes…well, not quite.
Look what he’s managed to do on a web site devoted to understanding.
Since the title of this blog is “Conversations with God–A blog by Neale Donald Walsch”, I leave it to you Neale. Please try to keep an open mind.

Prayer: There is but one prayer God will hear from a sinner. The prayer of repentence and salvation.
Joh 9:31 We know that God does not listen to sinners, but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does his will, God listens to him.
Psa 66:18 If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.
If you reject the words of Jesus Christ, how then shall God hear your words … when the very Christ you reject, is the mediator between God and man.
(1) Why do things happen the way they happen?
Because we are fallen creatures who live in a fallen world apart from God. We decay and the world decays. This is a result of sin.
(2) Can God change the things that are happening, at Will?
Absolutely.
(3) If God can perform a ‘miracle’ and change what is happening, why did God bother to make it happen to begin with?
He did not ‘make’ it. He allowed it to happen. When you fill up the sink or the tub and see a small whirlpool created by the rushing water… YOU did not create it. You observed it and let it continue.
(4) What is going on here, on the Earth, and what role, if any, do human beings play in the events that occur in our individual and collective lives?
The earth is spinning in its path and winding down to the end of the 6th day.
For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places; there will be famines. These are but the beginning of the birth pains.
Are certain things simply “non-causal”? In other words, is it possible that certain things happen that are caused by neither God nor man?
It is as explained above Neale.

Is ‘Ike’ God’s Will?
Neale,
I think that Ike was the result of physical laws. God created all physical laws. The bottom line is “God caused Ike, not to destroy man’s handy-work, but to move air. My question is, “Why did God want to move air?”
Ike does not affect me personally because I choose not to be in Texas
There are no such things as the Devil or fate.
I do not create every event in my life, but I agreed to every event in my life, and since God made me with free choice, God caused it, but I have to chose it.
You teach that God is in all us. Question: Then why does God drown self? Answer: It causes God no pain. Only the body can experience pain. God is more than a body.
I do not need to pray since God’s will is always done.

It seems to me that this is another moot “argument.” Hurricanes, and stuff, happens. I think it was John Lennon who said, “life is what happens when you’ve made other plans.”
To say that “god” wills people to die in hurricances, and suffer in any fashion, is the antethesis of “absolute love.” I mean, God is either absolute love, or an idiot. lol Right?
And yet here we are, trying to figure these tragedies out in a manner which assuages our own internal beliefs. As if this is our purpose here, perhaps, to determine what all this means and figure out the great meaning of it all. Well, maybe it is.
I read a book years ago which talked about supposed “Highly Evolved Beings,” who can control the weather on the particular planet they live on. For the sake of argument, let us say that this is possible. Their planet must have cycles of some sort, just like ours does, and in this cycle there very could well be a balance which exixts that gives this planet the “ultimate” weather patterns. I would assume this must include taking care of their planet, maintaining their “greenhouse gases” or whatever they call them on this planet, and keeping poisonous wastes out of the ecosystems, etc. So if they are this “evolved”, and can in this manner control their weather, it must be because they have consciously as a society chosen not to do things to their planet which harms it “unnaturally.” They then can become “creators” of their ultimate weather patterns, by simply living with respect for their environment and selves. Now their hurricanes are not longer God’s will, but a naturally occurring phenomenom which they have learned to “control”, and lessen the impact of, by simply using their own conscious choices. Although I am no scientist, on some level I would venture to say that hurricanes are even necessary to the overall ecology of a planet.
I mean, sure it is “god’s will” we have hurricanes, just like it is “god’s will” we have weather. To say that a particular hurricane or tsunami or any other natural disaster is intended to punish is a seeming arrogant judgment for anyone to make, and it is here that we then give power to separative thoughts and “disunity.” Perhaps it is here that we even try to wrestle authority away from God, by giving it our own perceptions.
My point? lol, I’m not sure except I felt inclined to join in the conversation. God’s will, Ike’s will, your will, my will, whatever. All I know for certain that I willfully send love and compassion to those who will be hit by the hurricane, and I hope to send money too. That is my will, however, and I claim to be no God, but rather a regular person who heeds my own inner voice.
peace

i am so happy we have a sense of humor. lol…
Yes, yes Deb. You are probably totally right about that one.
Well, some of us live purely by faith because of the knowing in our hearts. Some are more spiritually based and have a more difficult time in the physical world, and some are great at the physical world yet have a difficult time in the spiritual. My soul is huge, but even physically i match the description of the difficulty i have in the physical. i’m tiny, and i mean tiny. And it is work enough trying to feed myself to keep my body burning through the food so quick . Still trying to master this physical thing. And,, i’m a huge clutz! i’m a woman. i can admit it. i am surprised i actually got the trailer off the hitch today. Yaeee me!

I saw just the end of a wonderful movie today, Kundun…and those final words in movie just inspired me so much, that I decided to share them with you:
———————-
Dalai Lama: I see a safe journey, I see a safe return.
[hearing the Chinese propaganda loudspeakers blaring outside]
Dalai Lama: They have taken away our silence.
Indian: Are you the Lord Buddha?
Dalai Lama: I believe I am a reflection, like the moon on water. When you see me, and I try to be a good man, you see yourself.
Just like a dream experience, whatever things I enjoy will become a memory. Whatever is past will not be seen again.
I will liberate those not liberated. I will release those not released. I will relieve those unrelieved. And set living beings in nirvana.
Thus by the virtue that has collected through all that I have done may the pain of every living creature be completely cleared away.
————————–
That’s the way me too wants to take. What do you think about it? Nobody can’t go pass nobody, because everyone has inside this ocean of love, that wants to be spreaded on all people, that we can live our true dreams together – dreams of seeing silence, dreams of peace, dreams of unconditional love, of wisdom. No man is bad. Just hurted.
We need to spread love, that we are to all the world. And that are my dreams too.
Neal, you have great ideas about sharing – for instance about taxes! This is really great! I just saw by myself – i’m still living with my family – that having less money is not being less generous. If everyone, who has everything needed for living, would share their excesses of money – because we know, that money in safe is like we don’t have it – then nobody would be poor. If we could trust God on this, we wouldn’t need safes anymore. If we would trust God our life, everything would be different.
But first we must achieve this. Starting with me. Maybe because I have a great, generous family I can do this, I can start with this. For me it’s a blamishery for God to say to, that it doesn’t have money. Or that I’m not safe.
It’s all about our spirits. We must say, we who have everything for living, what gift will we want to give to the world, what spirit we want to heal…

Well, that’s it…yes, it’s God’s will.
In Kansas, we are experiencing continuous rain because of the last Hurricane. But, interesting enough, after seeing the “GodFlag” comment, I realized that I had my US flag up on my pole, still. From yesterday, as a show of respect and to honor those 9/11 victom’s and those who have died since. And although it is against “code”, I left the American flag out there in the rain.
After seeing the word GodFlag, I remembered which flag I was flying and went outside to change my US flag to a GodFlag. What was so interesting, is that the tornado sirens have been non-stop for about an hour now. But as soon as I got my GodFlag hoisted, there was silence. I just thought it was cool and wanted to share…lol
Whooops, there goes the horns again!!! lol

I prefer the Unity purpose for prayer:
Through prayer, we heighten our awareness of our oneness with God.
If we truly believe God is omnipotent, omnipresent, omnipowerful etc.
Then it MUST follow:
— That God already knows every need, every desire, every detail
— There is nothing we ever need to tell God
— There is nothing we ever need to ask for
— The only prayer we ever need to pray is the “master’s prayer”
Given that is true, then where to we go from there:
It is not about trying to MAKE God do something
— a little arrogant to think we could speak a magic incantation
— that would make God bend to our will, isnt it?
It IS about aligning with the divine center within ourselves
And allowing that to express in us, through us, as us
In other words, be the grandest expression of us that we can be
(and admitting that right now,
we dont have a clue what that looks like)

I am just going to start talking here. I don’t care who listens, but I know that Neale understands.
everything he is saying is true. And whether you guys recognize it or not, he is on the hunt for God, because God is here. Just like a lot of very powerful people in the world have been hunting for the last 31 years. So, I am going to talk directly to Neale. Because he is the safest person to talk to, I believe.
this is not a fear thing. It is a truth thing. Do you know why the Pope was in France most recently? He was looking for me. All churches have hunted me, and none of them get it. And the people! Wow. I feel so alone. After all of this time and everything that you were left with, you still don’t get it…
I say a prayer to the Lord my Father whom resides in me. I step out the door to do my activities. The children get it. Every where I turn when I walk in my light, the children see it and they wave a hello. Countless times through out my life they have ran to me and attached their little arms around my leg. People I have never met, but none the less they know. Those whom have closed off reside in the darkness and walk in blindness, forcing their will upon me. But if only they would give me a chance! They don’t see. I’ve been protected my entire life by the people of this government. I have been protected by them, and those of them who are of the faith have taken me for further preparation, as I have had to grow physically in order to give my body time to catch up to my spirit.
With all of this none sense of leaving you so much, to see that it hasn’t gotten you only into further darkness. Was the sacrifice worth it? Was my fathers sacrifice worth it?
I still believe it was, because that is MY heart. I will do my work, and the book must come first…
This is not by anyway a propaganda. It is the truth.
I’m right here Neale. I’m right here…
And I need you right now, because I hurt because of the people.
Please Father, let them of southern states be well. i may not be full grown, but please no more pain for the world, even if they do not believe in me.

*Sigh* Well, reading through these comments, it seems it has happened again. We are all so focused on nitpicking with each other, arguing with each other, that many did not even address an answer to Neale’s question. And I must say that I find it interesting that those who seem to be the most attacking on this blog can’t seem to spell or type coherently, so the ‘stand there in a huff’ pose isn’t as credible when you say “Neale is ot right” when what you meant was “Neale is not right.”
I apologize if my mood comes off as bitter, but you see–I grew up on the Gulf Coast. Yeah, you know. The Gulf Coast. Neale’s original question before we had interlays of who is right and who is wrong.
To answer your question, Neale – no, I do not think Ike is God’s will. I do think that mankind has done a number on this planet, and nature’s forces will take a certain course based on that. However, since I work hard to do my part in recycling, caring, etc., it’s not like I’m creating my own universe and I’ll be immune from hurricanes. They happen. I have friends and family who lost everything in Katrina. My family drove 20 hours to evacuate Gustav (what should have been a 5 hour drive).
Post Katrina, I find myself incredibly angry at the world. Angry that reaching out, DOING something to help, wasn’t at the top of everyone’s priority list, as it was on mine. My family is still alive and I thank God for that, but the chaos that followed Katrina was something I don’t EVER want to live through again. It truly broke my heart.
Perhaps while Ike may not be God’s will, it does give us an opportunity to reach out and help. Be it donations, house a friend or relative, help that city’s tourism once things have been repaired. I know that Katrina changed many people. Those ‘on the fence’ about having kids suddenly got pregnant, fearing they would grow old and not have anyone as many experienced in Katrina. My own parents went from a liberal sect of their church to one more traditional which believes women can’t lead or guide others, women should be silent. It AFFECTED people, in ways that many who don’t live on the Gulf Coast can’t understand.
I feel for and pray for all of those in Texas and the Gulf Coast going through this, because I know what it’s like. To repair what you love so dear, to see your city in ruins, to hear accents in a new location because they’ve been displaced and they miss their home.
This is a great discussion board, and I love Neale’s books. Those who don’t agree, you’re welcome to your opinion. But I had to bring this up because it seems we’re going down a path of criticism when this blog post was originated on the Gulf Coast and hurricanes.
Thanks for reading if you made it this far.

Hurricane Ike – as I am writing this – the Weather Channel claims a Cat 2 -
ok, if God created it – then God is saying, “use your common sense, get out of the way – learn from this one because next time it will be a cat 4 ” -
I agree with so many people from yesterday and today….
As I have been told, prayers are always answered. I never used to pray, really. I honestly didn’t think it worked. The first time I truly prayed was the 1st time I had cancer. It wasn’t for me, but for my 18 month old son. I wanted to be sure he would be ok after I was gone. He’s almost 30 now….and I think whether in this plane or in another, I would know of the manifestation. My prayer was answered.
Prayers are ALWAYS answered. Those that are answered instantaneously may be considered as miracles by some. Those that take longer are only ways for us to understand patience and also a way to overcome doubt.
Doubt is a key factor.
If you believe that all the components are already there ( – maybe not in order – but non-the-less, there (ie: as in whatever is needed for it to work)-
Somehow the pieces fall into place for manifestation. I have witnessed this many times. It is basically positive thinking or intention or prayer for the best possible outcome. (never, never use the word “want” in your prayer – you will always be wanting)
You must know it will happen. Here is the tricky part -
Trusting the outcome.

Elaine, thank you to share your story with us. It is very heartbreaking. But you see, many people, who didn’t help, they were or maybe still are hurted inside and feel they cannot make step forward.
Maybe we should be praying for them rather than get angry. But anger when used can be a good thing too, actually it can be the greatest prayer there on stage, calling: please, go with me, we can do it! But we have to know, that this is the right thing we are doing. Not get angry for lies, but for Truth, that we are.
I really believe, that if they only could make this step forward, everything in their lives could be changed immediately. Maybe they would feel God inside again, when they would do this, maybe they would feel worthy of living again.
On these days nobody can feel safe. There are yesterday’s memories, that are still hunting us on every corner. I know it’s a spiritual problem, everything. Maybe, Elaine, we can change it.
GOD, this is really touching letter…and Don L, great point!

Subject: Is ‘Ike’ God’s Will?
Neale,
We, as humans, get all hung-up on God’s will. I believe God created humans to experience what it was like to live physically. God was full of living mentally. God had tried everything mentally, and now it wanted to experience physical life.
That makes humans God’s tools. So as not to make humans simple robots, God gave man free choice. Most humans do not see themselves as tools, like a hammer. They think they are the end, the reason for creation.
God can do what ever it wants. Not only that but it created everything out of itself, which was energy.

When I predicted that we’d have more hurricanes after Katrina – because of man – and then we went 2 years with very mild hurricanes – everyone thought I was a nut.
But now here we are.
Hurricanes that occurred before we started burning fossil fuel are the will of GOD.
Hurricanes that occurred after we started burning fossil fuel are the direct result of man made emissions.
You see all weather – whether it be rain, snow, ice, wind, heat, cold, hurricanes, tornado’s or hail that occurred before we started burning fossil fuel are the will of GOD.
But I, Al Gore now proclaim that weather – whether it be rain, snow, ice, wind, heat, cold, hurricanes, tornado’s or hail that occurred before we started burning fossil fuel are the direct result of man made emissions.
So there.

Dear unnamed,
again, Jesus is the Word and he lives in us. We just have to recognize him inside us. He is the Word of forgiveness, Word of uncoditional love, Word of friendship with all, Word of freedom, Truth that resides in us. And he is a way, only if we follow The Word – HIM! That we can return to silence inside us. To listen to our hearts – again.
Maybe you know Faustina Kowalska…She saw Jesus with two rays shinig from his chest. Merciful Jesus.
One day I had a dream about this painting.
I’m a painter. And my father in dreams bought a lot of frames from glass…large ones. And then I looked at one and there was a painting of merciful Jesus there. That was pretty interesting to me, why did he put this painting into glass. Then immediatly I saw how this painting turned into angel. Angel had his arm upon his head and the same rays were shining through his hand. I wanted to tell my father, but then saw, it is only me who can see this, because painting was getting smaller and smaller and then dissapeared. After that I woke up.
Now I know, that angels are Words of God. These dreams let me know that.
I hope I had seeded something new in your heart.
Be good,

Don,
You say the same thing again and again, so I’ll give the same answer again and again…
Now for ‘unnamed’ also…
If it is as you say, then that means that almost 85% of the world is ‘lost’ now, and more than 90% previous the invention of press…
Christianity is only 30% of world beliefs… So, 70% is ‘lost’ according your view… (buddhists, muslims, hinduists, etc.)
Add to that, that in this 30%, near 35% is Protestant. This adds 10% more to the ‘lost’. We’re near 80% now…
And if you add to that, that within Protestantism ( +/- 20% remaining), not everybody who says “Lord, Lord, in your name we believe”, are accepted by God -for example Jehovah’s Witnesses, Adventists, etc.-, this adds, say, 10% more to the flames of hell…
So, being generous, only about 10% of world population will be saved, according to fundamentalism…
I know that ‘Holy Word’ says “narrow is the gate for salvation, wide is the way for perdition”… but this looks as total failure for that ‘omnipotent’ and ‘righteous’, and ‘just’ and ‘loving’ fundamentalist ‘god’… For not mentioning this deplorable waste of people, isn’t it…?
Including those that for living in Africa, China, or an Indic Island, or in America previous to Colon, never had the opportunitie of hearing about Jesus and his salvation, say, in the 10th century, or less, or right now…
If it is not a total victory for the ‘Devil’, I wouldn’t know how to name it…
Fundamentalism makes ‘Satan’ an absolut winner…!!!
But I believe more in what Jesus says somewhere, answering to a terrified Peter who asked: “… what you say is terrible, then, who will be saved then [if 'Salvation is so hard]…?”
Jesus says: “what is impossible for man, it’s possible for God”…
Yes, I agree… What it looks impossible for the closed understanding of men, it’s totally possible for Love…
By the way, Don, who will be the ‘saved’, among those +/- 10%… : Lutherans? Pentecostals? Babtists?, all of them? Who don’t?
Or, “everyone who declares with his mouth that Christ is the Lord”, will be saved…?
Wow!, that increases numbers a lot…!
Blessed be God and ALL of Us…!

I liked what Brette said, that often the worst of times brings out the best of people (paraphrasing). I don’t know or understand about whether or not Ike is God’s will. I do know that in all of the crises in my life, since I started listening to God, God has been there guiding me through. This includes a serious breakdown, molestation of my son, death of my son, a suicide attempt, and more. I finally realized that I can weather anything in my life if I simply listen to God and follow His words. We may not need to know all the answers but instead need to have faith in God Above and in the goodness of people around us (which is really the light of God within).
Amen, Janette

If there is a God there he isn’t omnipotent. Or if he is then he is not benevolent.
But there is no evidence for a caring God (let alone the one from the Bible) out there. Even though the thought of one being there would be nice.
Things happen for whatever reason they happen. But a ‘loving God’ can’t be the explanation given the undeserved misery, pain and suffering of so many people and animals over time.

Is Ike God’s will? Of course it is. Can you imagine anything contrary to God’s will? What kind of god is caught off guard by a hurricane?
Not the God I know.
The question that seems to hurt is: why? Was it something I did? Was it something we did? WHOSE FAULT IS IT?????
And we never learn.
Eve looked at a tree and saw that it was desirous for wisdom, and so she ate, and gave to her husband, who also ate. The serpent did not lie. But this did not stop Eve from blaming it, nor Adam from blaming her…and God. Read it again.
Hurricanes are bad, we don’t like them. Death is bad, we don’t like it. Destruction is bad, we don’t like it. Peace is good. Calm is good. Why can’t we have calm and peace?
Because we spend too much time blaming and deciding who and what is right/good/holy and wrong/bad/evil, and not near enough time praising and doing, loving and helping, being and growing. And the Tree of Life (seems) forever out of reach.
God came to be one of us as Jesus and was rejected by many because He was not what they wanted. Two thousand years later, we still do the same.
God wouldn’t allow suffering, we say. God wouldn’t allow hurricanes, we reason. God should be more loving, so there must not be a God, we believe. God is not created by man; it is the other way around.
God’s will brings hurricanes. I don’t know why. I probably will never know why. And that’s ok with me. Let God decide what is good and bad, and I’ll decide where I can help. That is what He has given me the capacity to do, and so that is the best I can do.
Blessed is the Name of His Kingdom forever and ever. May His Peace find you.

Victor, AM, and Teja – you guys ROCK. I agree with your latest posts.
Brett – I felt a pang in my heart when I read your post. Thank you for speaking up as someone who lives in the TX area.
I do agree with several posts that these occurences, be they hurricanes, tornadoes, attacks, etc. – they do have the opportunity to have some good come from them. Like siblings who love each other, people put aside their bickering for the time being and come together to help. These actions restore my faith in humanity, so there are positives which come from such things.
It was so hard for me to maintain friendships with people after Katrina, who didn’t even seem to know it was happening. I don’t expect everyone to take action (though I wish they would) but some people were like, “oh, right. That hurricane. Wanna go shop for shoes?” Like I stated earlier, Katrina affected everything. Friendships, outlooks, perceptions. The positives from this can bring things of God, but I still can’t swallow that it’s God’s will to displace and heartbreak so many people.
My 2 cents. Thanks Neale.

dear unnamed person
Its amusing how Christians like you and Don insist that the bible says EXACTLY what it says when it fits your interpretation but when someone quotes a verse that goes against what your interpretation is, well then you need reallly long explanations for it.
Your attempt to shut Jesus up doesn’t work. Jesus agree with the Psalm, and Neale agreed with Jesus. He used the statement “Ye are gods” to explain why he was the son of God. You can interpret it differently if you must but don’t use that to lash out at people.
By the way, as for calling Neale or others “Clown”. In the Jewish tradition, to humiliate another was considered the same as killing them. Jesus agreed with that. He condemned calling another “Fool”. I don’t condemn you for speaking your mind but I do think you are lacking in the fundamentals of what Jesus really stood for. LOVE.

Quick Preface: I believe my statements to be true for me, not necessarily for anyone else.
Why do we create bad experiences for ourselves? So we can feel sorry for ourselves. Wallow in our selfpity. Reinforce our belief that we have no power in our live. Why do we want to believe such things? So we don’t have to take responsibility for creating them. Because we think that taking responsibilty equals being guilty of have created negative conditions.
When I was younger I was a very lazy person. I sought to justify not participating in exercise by wishing I had asthma. I actually wished disease on myself for years. And I was granted my wish. I had the power to give myself shortness of breath almost on command just by overexerting myself a little. I had multiple perscriptions to control my symptoms. It even go so bad I almost gave myself a heart attack and had to be hospitalized. And I loved it! Being in a new place, TV right beside my bed, and all I had to do was inhale medicated vapour several times a day.
As I got older however and learned the ramifications of asthma’s long term effects, I decided maybe this wasn’t the best thing to have in my life after all. By that time I was reading the CwG books and remembered that my malady was something that I had wished for, so I set out to try and unwish it. I stopped playing the victim, took responsibility and, though it’s taken longer to banish it than it took to call it forth, I am almost completely free of asthma attacks. I notice a bit of tightness in my throat maybe once a month.
Never once, not even as I brushed against death, did I hate my illness. I sought it out, used it to get what I wanted at the time, and discarded it when I got tired of it. And I think the same could be said about any aspect or condition of anyone’s life.
Endnote: I don’t claim to say my life is wholly without strife. There are conditions and events within my life and experiences that I do hate quite readily. I do still try to play the victim from time to time. But all this means to me now I that I haven’t found where I started it. Where I was at cause.

All My Relations
Are we not all connected by the creation of all that is? Is not the Source of Creator in all things? Is not all a part of the Creator or Source? I believe so. If I stop to look at it as a body of all, a simple thinking really but anyhow, A total body of all. How is it like myself?
If I have a sickness, cut or some thing that is wrong with my body do I not have the free choice to take action to correct it, based on my desire to do so? With the right or wrong desire of my choice does it not bring forth the re-action of my choice. For every action there is a re-action.
If I take this simple look at my body and apply it to the body of all of creation here and beyond. Does not the actions of the various parts of the body create the reaction of such?
The thing that has to take place before action can go forth is Desire or thought of desire to create the action. In the Body there are various ways these pains and hurts or cuts etc.. are feed to the brain of the body and from there the thought is put forth for the action to be created.
If all things are a part of creation and all things enter act with the whole then would it not be correct that there is a re-action to the combine inputs or impluses of the various parts of the body of creation? If the inputs are all mixed up with different data then does not the outcome also have the least amount of chance to creating the best outcome?
I think if all the little bodies or little hoops with in the great hoop of all. Would look with in to the same common source of their being and understanding and see the LOVE of their creation and applied it in every thought of their free will choice a desire based on love and truth. Would not the body of the whole have the right medicine to healing the pains and hurts of the body.
As for individuals this may seem like a huge battle beyond ones handling. But it really begins with each part working right for a healthy body. And heck if you are healthly with Source and should pass on today. What have you lost? But rather what have you gain? Expansion or Change is forever happening. Its the expansion of each part or change that will create the future of the individual and the whole.
If I build a fire while camping out in the wilderness, and place that fire outside my tipi? And along comes bad weather and rains and snows and brings winds etc.. and puts out my fire did the Great Spirit put out my fire? Or did I make a bad choice by not building the fire in my tipi to stay warm?
As long as the world wishes to stay seperated with hate racism not loving the other parts of the body. The body can not make right thoughts of choice I believe. Will this happen over night? Well how many masters and how many 1000′s of years will it take to do so? I guess that depends how many individuals will start to build their fires inside their tipi.

What is the will of God?
This is a false question. It assumes that God exist and wills in the way that “i” do. This question and our ruminations upon it often lead to much discretionary suffering as we project ourselves and see reflected back our own biases, hopes and fears.
This “God” is the tyrant of the ego; the author of heaven and hell. We need to learn to kick this “God” and the question of its will at the curb. Quite obviously it does not exist outside of the individual and collective imaginations.
So what is each of to do in our struggles through life? How am “i” to learn the important and difficult lessons that “i” am so inclined to resist? It comes down to fear and projection, and a willingness to let go of those talismans of the ego that keep us in place, suffering more than we need to. Yes, life involves suffering, and for some that suffering is more direct, more prolonged, and more intense than for others. However, and here is the big point; we can leave many forms of suffering behind through honest engagement. Even pain can be less painful. It is still pain, but it need not be as bad as most of us make it.
Christopher Reeve had it all, until one day he fell off his horse. After that intense struggle, and over time tremendous growth and contribution to others. Before his fall he was only a fictional superman. Afterwards he became a super man, one worthy of learning from because he had experienced and learned an immense life lesson. He learned and he engaged himself with life. And that is what each of us must do for ourselves, to find the way to leave behind the suffering that is discretionary, to engage life fully, and finally to die well.
I know that many suffer, all in fact, though in different ways. Acknowledging this, we draw closer to each other, it is something we share and face, and through it we approach the core of our common heritage. Engage life. Do it like Cyrano de Bourgerac, with gusto and verve, passion and courage. This is my prescription, the only one I have to offer. And when you fall down, stand up again, keep moving, and never surrender to fear and mediocrity.

To LLB and all others:
LLB, you say: „We’ve worked and worked and worked for it for years. So many years I had hope, I visualized, I believed, it kept me going. And instead, things got worse.“
I am passing through a similar situation and on top got almost murdered by three men robbing me and holding their guns (3) against my head. And, actually, I was serene.
Although they said at least 20 times: „We kill you, we kill you,“ I respectively told them that I am invincible. They may do something to my body, but not to me. I realized deeply in that particular situation:
CIRCUMSTANCES DON’T MATTER, THAT IS THEY DON’T MATERIALIZE.
ONLY STATE OF BEING MATTERS, MATERIALIZE.
And I am into big business. Could have earned a LOT (millions) this year, but things didn’t happen yet the way I IMAGINED them. Still, I am absolutely determined:
NOTHING BRINGS ME DOWN.
I SIMPLY FLY ON, WHEREVER I WANT (choose).
I HAVE EVERYTHING WHAT I NEED – MORE WOULD BE TOO BIG.
What I like to express in a nutshell here is: If we are REALLY serious of BEING happy, WE MUST, MUST, MUST APPRECIATE, APPRECIATE, APPRECIATE.
I looked those Killers in their eyes. I didn’t RESIST. I looked through it. The energy surrounded me – but it could NOT matter, materialize. ONLY my state of being. When all is said and done, we are at Source of all that is. We choose.
We have ALWAYS the opportunity to look at the gross positive side of things in this world of relativity and ultimately TRANSCEND it all together.
Now that they stole my computers, studio equipment, etc., what do I think and feel?
I think: I HAVE EVERYTHING WHAT I NEED – MORE WOULD BE TOO BIG.
I feel: I have been blessed. Those KILLERS gave me the opportunity to experience that nothing outside of me MATTERS. Only my state of BEING does.
I keep singing:
NOTHING BRINGS ME DOWN.
I SIMPLY FLY ON, WHEREVER I WANT.
I HAVE EVERYTHING WHAT I NEED – MORE WOULD BE TOO BIG.

The animosity that was displayed on this blog yesterday in regards to ‘Is Ike God’s Will Or Our Will’ really disturbed me. I thought about it all last night and this morning. After my morning workout a light began turning on.
CWG states that all acts of aggression are an act of defense. So what was ‘he who has no name’ defending? What had him and others so frightened that they had to be so aggressive on this blog? What came to me, was the very topic of discussion that Neale brought to our attention and that they were completely avoiding by being so aggressive towards Neale and his ‘minions’.
The power of a hurricane is frightening. The powerlessness of those of us trapped in our separateness is beyond frightening, beyond terrifying. How can a loving God wreak such havoc upon mankind unless we have displeased Him? Since CWG is also threatening to the fundamentalists and Bible thumpers, those of us that are willing to consider the information presented by Neale and CWG are the one that have displeased God and brought His wrath down upon the world. Therefore, the attacks upon Neale and his house.
A chill just went up my spine. Thank goodness for the internet, otherwise many of us may have been burned at the stake yesterday.
So why the hurricane and who’s will, I see this way. The earth and the universe was created by us (read God) to prepare the illusion/playground for experiencing. The physical rules where established long before we began incarning onto the planet to play. Hurricanes and other planetary experiences are well established and expected. We still choose to live our lives with the possibility that those lives will be interrupted from time to time by these natural (read physical) expected events.
So Ike is our will both God’s and man’s. We here in the physical just don’t remember that we participated in the creations of it.

I chimed in yesterday, and it seemed that participating isn’t as important as I felt. Well I’m returning to the back of the class, the conversations were not condusive for a healthy environment. If, by replying to (someone?) fueling the fire, although I tried not to be aggressive, just instigates such hatred…well, I’m out!
And I appologize to those in the class who appreciate these conversations as I do.

I read the book in the first place because a commenter a few weeks ago asked you to do it and now I am seeing he was right. Can you review this somewhere? Can you give an answer at all?

See Don?

It’s all matter of interpretation…
You said to Susan that God was talking to “god’s people”, in that psalm… So, if it doesn’t applies to anybody else, then, nothing in the Bible applies to anybody else, isn’t it?…
In the same manner, then, we’d have to use the very same argument you used in this:
__________
Jesus Christ said
Mat 15:7 You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, when he said:
Mat 15:8 “‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me;
Mat 15:9 in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’”
Jesus was talking to jews, pharisees, more specifically, and referring to ancient jews… Pharisees didn’t worship Jesus at that moment, or did they…?
So, this argument is useless…
So, I maintain my affirmation and question:
Who will be the ‘saved’, among those +/- 10% [relative percentage of christians 'saved' according to fundamentalism]… : Lutherans? Pentecostals? Babtists?, all of them? Who don’t?
Or, “everyone who declares with his mouth that Christ is the Lord”, will be saved…?
Wow!, that increases numbers a lot…!
And if we take what unnamed says:
“God has said it rather plainly, you are not coming to me, and will not see heaven until you have accepted the One who I sent”
Very well!, that increases the numbers a little more, indeed… (MANY people accepts Jesus), but Don and others say that there are other requirements needed too… That “accepting” is not enough…
See?
Blessings
P.S. I love you too, Susan… And All…

I have been reading “Why is God Laughing?” by Deepak Chopra. It is a small book and written in the form of a novel. I was curious, but underestimated its wisdom. Yesterday I read something that stopped me in my tracks.
“Francisco jumped to his feet. He tugged Mickey’s arm, pulling him to the shore, and then knee-deep into the water. The cold sand sucked at their feet. He asked, “How can you seek God if he’s already here? It’s like us standing in the ocean and crying out,’I want to get wet.’ You want to get over the line to God. It turns out he was always there.” Francisco’s eyes began to gleam. “Grace comes to those who stop struggling. When it really sinks in that there’s nothing you can do to find God, he suddenly appears. That’s the deepest mystery, the only one that counts.”
I read this yesterday while waiting for a bus. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up. I read it again and again, then put the book away. I needed a moment to digest this. It is so simple and so true. I have read all of Neale’s books, taken his LEP program and am now working through Eckhart Tolle’s A New Earth Webcast with Oprah and I have never once heard God described so simply. I finally GET IT. I finally understand what WE ARE ALL ONE truly means. God is everywhere.
So, the question of whether Ike is God’s Will Ike misses the point. God IS Ike. God is the City of Galveston that is destroyed by Ike (unless it’s not) God is the people affected by Ike and those who go to help.
This answers LLB’s question. I have been unemployed for over a year. I had to file bankruptcy in June. I have been in the place that LLB is and asking the questions she asks. I literally feel her pain. God is her acid-reflux. God is her situation. God didn’t create it, God IS it. LLB is God too. I guess it is what CWG means by God, Godding. . These individual aspects of God are part of a much bigger picture that we may not yet be aware of. Is it possible that this situation is happening to LLB and people like her as part of a larger change? If enough people cannot afford the basic healthcare they need and are vocal about this lack, then will that finally force change? Perhaps LLB did not bring this situation to her as an individual, but as part of a collective whose purpose on this planet is to finally force the US government to provide a modicum of adequate healthcare to citizens. Who knows. I am not going to presume that I know why this is happening to LLB or any other person.
While going through my own trials, I went to the place of completely denouncing God. I threw all my spiritual books, including Neale’s into a corner of my closet and declared I had enough. I felt I had been on this spiritual path for years and could not see where it had taken me other than to a place of suffering and angst. When I did that and released my need to find God the peace that I had been searching for washed over me. I felt the “Grace that comes to those who stop struggling,” as the book mentions. I realized that I had been looking for God in books, in meditation and in everything I did without understanding that it is all God. When we realize this, nothing ever appears the same again.

Dear ‘he with no name’
I believe Jesus said something to the effect that we should not cast our pearls before swine. You have shown yourself to be a person of very limited tolerance, professing that the Bible is the one and only truth. You have also demonstrated that you do not have an understanding of the information that Neale presents and cast him out for things he never said. So why would reasonable people interested in a sharing of ideas wish to engage you in a discourse where you do not wish to consider any opinion other than your own?
But I will respond to your request and hope for a change in your demeanor.
Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary. Joseph and Mary belonged to a group that history has called a Mystery Religion. That groups name is the Essenes. They were a Jewish off shoot that wished to go deeper into the relationship between man and God. They knew of the Unity existing between God and all of creation both physical and nonphysical. They knew of how all are one, of how the every essence of God is manifested in everyone and everything. Jesus chose to be born and grow up in this community and family so that He could maintain his conscious relationship with God as he grew up fall into separateness. He began His ministry by being baptized by John who was also of the Essenes. He taught in parables so that those with the eyes to see and the ears to hear could understand His teachings at the most fundamental levels and the deeper exoteric levels as well.
Jesus chose to die on the cross to show that he had command over physical death. He also rose from the dead to show that life and awareness of self is constant and physical death is not a limitation to life.
Jesus is an example and goal for all to strive for. Jesus taught that all of the things He did and understood where capable of being achieved by anyone else as well.
Jesus knew every step of His life on earth exactly what he was doing and teaching because he knew from personal experience that He and God are one. He also knew from personal experience that everyone else is one with God and each other as well.

DGF thanx for the “peace” website. Our healing circle will participate. We have always put “hot spots” of the world in the LIGHT, our political leaders, our troops and their families etc. Just this summer, our focus has been mainly the world situation (the end to all wars).
I do believe now, that the consciousness has been raised, awareness is becoming prevalent. Old attitudes no longer hold “energy”. If you know what I mean. Intentional prayer also requires action on our part. As I had said, that all the pieces fall into place for manifestation, at some point we are the pieces, there is action that must be taken, for a prayer to be answered, or we would become co-dependent on God to DO IT all, and then cry out when our needs were not met.

You hear the spirit. Do not heed those of America that do not believe in Love. It is their error…
Today as I spoke to those whom died in the name of honor and love for world peace, I walked amidst the breathing trees that stand in place of their body as of today, that signify the tree of life in which all branches are grafted in as we are One, partially because of their effort and their desires. I spoke of love and understanding for them, and I witnessed their love they have shared during their time upon this plane. Their souls are peaceful yet stand ready for the march into the new world. And as I humbly bowed my head before them, their souls said as one “Rock on”.
Yes, we rock Together.
You are perfect… And God forgives all, so long as we find Him. Move beyond the sin and know your perfection in Love.

Hello Everyone -
Neale also mentions Obama is now saying he will cut taxes for 95% of Americans.
If we [95%] actually thought it was possible for Obama to provide full medical benefits to the 50 million people his campaign indicates are in the USA without coverage – and to provide a virtually free college education to an additional 5 million students – - and to provide free job training the 40 million high school drop-outs in America’s inner city – - and to spend an additional 2 billion on alternative energy subsidies – AND TO AT THE SAME TIME CUT TAXES FOR 95% of the country – We’d all be lining up to vote for the man.
Here’s the story.
Obama is not going to cut taxes on anyone except those who already
don’t pay income taxes [because they don't have jobs].
Obama will follow through on his promise to tax business’s beyond a designated “profit” level. [Meaning when certain business's excede profit designations created by Democrats - they will jump to a higher tax bracket].
The reason companies move business out of the USA is because the
Federal and State governments in the USA have gone mad taxing and regulated American companies.
So more taxing ang rules and designations is not going to prevent anyone business from moving operations off-shore.
So – Obama and his tax plan does makes sense to people who think
that we have enough rich businessman and companies in the USA to make it all work. Neale seems to be in that category.
Of course, we do not. If we confiscated every penny from every billionaire’s bank account today – and increased tax’s on byusiness from the insane 30-40% they are now – to say 80% – we would still have the same amount of poor people on our streets.
For 50 years now – Liberals have been telling us the way out of money problems for the less fortunate is to take money from the most fortunate – create programs and give more helping hands – and for 50 years – we keep seeing our inner cities crime and monet problems increase. Yet those are the areas we have targeted with trillions of dollars in AIDE.
The reason companies move business out of the USA is because the
Federal and State governments in the USA have gone mad taxing and regulated American companies.
So more taxing ang rules and designations is not going to prevent anyone business from moving operations off-shore.
Obama will be a great president for those Americans who believe the driving force behind their own earning capacity is GOVERNMENT.
That type of belief is living a make believe world my friends.
Socialism has been tryed every which way – forwards – backwards – sideways – upside down – and straight line.
IT WILL NEVER WORK !
aLOHA !
BTW – Business’s don’t pay taxes. The customers of business do.
THAT’S YOU AND ME – you big goofs !

Sedated the mass if you will. The church understands the process of creation! The church is using the process of creation for negative creation… It is time to wake the christian community up! It is happening right now, right here, all that you have been praying for and desiring. And if you see through the eyes of love, truly see through the eyes of love… you will see the truth!
There is a book that I would heavily like to suggest. The one GOD sent me to just the other night. It is phenomenal. By John Bevere, and it is called “Thus saith the Lord?” There is so much of it that is right on.
There is a part of it that is not, but for the most part it is. I would like to thank John for heeding the call.
I would have you know I spoke here, before opening the pages beyond the forward of the book as Susan released me to do so. Thank you Susan.
Christians! Read it!
Teja, my heart smiles…
Kay, so I guess I stay, once a day… as my life matters too, just as much as you.

How are you feeling today? You know, NDW has been in that dark space you described, and so have I. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to begin feeling better. How? These are my suggestions:
1. Have a good cry.
2. Get a two week supply of Prilosec, or one of the generic
equivalents to stop the fire in your gut. It’s ten dollars
well spent. You are worth it, and you cannot afford NOT to!
3. Check out the Abraham-Hicks videos on YouTube where Esther Hicks
is channeling Abraham. The one about Gratitude vs. Appreciation
would be a good one to watch. You see, it’s easier to find
things to appreciate, and Abraham has an interesting explanation
for why that is. (You have already expressed appreciation for
your husband.)
4. Go to the Abraham-Hicks website and listen to their audios. Sit
and argue and fight with them if you want to–just listen until
you begin to feel a sense of relief.
5. Take a nap, or before you go to sleep tonight, lay there and ask
for relief from the distress that you feel. Ask for what you
want.
The better you feel the more able you are to see the steps you need to take to make things better. You know that, don’t you? We care about you. Let us know how you’re doing.

Bryan, so you are suggesting what?….vote for McCain and all the problems would be solved?…I somehow feel there are errors of misjudgemnt there as well….spare me the details, and I’m not being sarcastic…..
I watched a beautiful thing on the day of rememberance of 9/11. I saw 2 men – the best of the “blue side” and the best of the “red side” come together in respect. All name slamming and degradation were halted for a day…what peace.
Is it not too far off to think that 2 minds are better than one?…..If both sides have the best ideas for this country – maybe somehow and someday when it miraculously occurs – we could have 2 qualified people as president. It’s just a thought, and thoughts can manifest into things…..

God sent Ike? Please people, it’s called life on earth and when certain things come together, storms occur. Nothing has control over it, they just happen. IMO if there was a loving god, why would “bad things happen”. 9/11, hurricanes, tornados, humans fighting other humans in war, children dying of disease, famines, dictators etc.? We humans perhaps can control our behavior, but the weather…Mother Nature perhaps, but an almighty being? Hard to believe.

Hello Cynthia -
Voting for anyone – McCain or Obama – doesn’t ‘SOLVE’ anything.
Sounds like that’s the difference between me and you – RED and BLUE.
Blue believes the driving force behind financial success in life
is obtained from government – especially when gov’t takes money
from one person and gives it to another.
And that’s fine by the way – certainly if you are looking to goverment
to play a significant role in your finances – you will vote for Obama and/or most Democrats. That’s cool.
Red typically believes that ones financial situation is the result
of what one puts into making it – thus, I want the government to solve
nothing – in fact, Red believes that government intervention actually created the mortgage crunch.
And another By The way – we should all be thrilled that our economy
is having these problems that need correcting.
WHAT ? you ask – I’ll tell you that we had 6 great years under Clinton and 6 under Bush – and we will again have a great economy no matter who
s elected.
reason is that our system still THANKFULLY – is based on a free market
and free exchange.
The futures markets and stock markets need risk takers and speculators
to fuel much of our economy – granted it was those very speculators, that Barack Obama correctly pointed out – who were largely responsbilll for a run on loans [and crude oil].
We should be happy that we know our economy is not “fake”.
If it was – we citizens would never see much change at all – and out poorest 5% would not be among the richest 1% of people on Earth.
That’s right – poor Americans are filthy rich by the standard of 98% of the rest of the world.
Obama needs to keep his hands of the pockets of US business – if he wants those business’s to hire more people.
On the economy – McCain is right.
On the War – McCain is right – our option is to WIN – Period.
There can be no other outcome that serves our nation.
If you want an outcome that serves Islamic radicals – you will
vote for Barack Obama. Which is fine – if that is what you believe in.
Just admit it – rather than make up some story that Obama will
cut taxes for 95% of the nation. HE WON’T.
What does GOD Want ?
To the extent that we want to experience McCain Palin – God wants
McCain Palin.
To the extent that we want to experience Obama Biden – God wants Obama Biden.
It’s that simple – God wants what we want – and to the exact extent we want to experience what we want.

Who here would sacrifice one child to save another? Are there any takers?
I didn’t think so.
Do we not think that God loves All his children at least as much as we love ours, especially one whose name is Jesus?
What sort of God have we imagined that would intentionally sit back and allow the infliction of pain, not to mention death, of one of his own just to prove a point, anyway?
Are we to believe in a God who willfully created Ike or who stood by and allowed Jesus to be tortured–whether you believe them to be acts of spite or acts of love–in a sort of trade-off, nevertheless? Are we to imagine a God capable of engaging in the mercantilism of human lives? Did God say, “Okay, I’ll make you a trade. I’ll let all you dirty, rotten, sinful, scoundrels live but you have to give me Jesus on a bloody crucifixion?” And, did God also say, “It can’t be a quick, cut-and-dry kind of death. It has to be a long one involving excruciating pain–the tearing of flesh from flesh.” Did God add, “In fact, there has to be so much agony that when Jesus cries out to me, “Oh Father, my father, why has thou forsaken me?” his cry will be but in vain, for I shall have no mercy then and I will not answer, at least not until a goodly amount of suffering has been had, at least not until an example has been made.”
Exactly what sort of God have we imagined that could really order these gross afflictions of pain upon humans and then just stand idly by? Is God, being love, incapable of hearing much less rescuing her children when they cry out in such horrific pain, whether the children be Jesus or those facing Ike tonight? God isn’t God, if there is something God cannot do, right?
For centuries we have misinterpreted Jesus’ sacrifice and our own sufferings to envision a vengeful God who must be appeased. We have been taught a petty, jealous, judgmental God so full of vengeance as to be capable of trading one life for another’s. Tit for tat. Quid quo pro. Most of all, we have not only envisioned a God who separates himself from us at birth, but one who creates us as creatures of sin (the greatest of which was simply being born); a God who, though requiring us to follow a list of rules, was not only so cruel as to not tell us the rules beforehand, but who dropped us off in the middle of planet Earth without so much as a rulebook at all save one open to gross misinterpretation over many centuries, I might add, as it was filtered by a great number of different men over a great period of time; and, finally, a God who only communicates to, of all people, ancient, dead, males. Everyone else including newborn babes are just out of luck.
Such a God could not be any further from the truth. God is not somewhere over there in the sky. God has no specific gender, no specific color, no specific race. God doesn’t even have a specific place at all or a specific time. God is everywhere and nowhere. In every direction and no direction. In every dimension and no dimension. In every time and no time. God is, simply put, All That Is–the Alpha and Omega. Omniscience and omnipresence. God is the energy of pure love permeating all that is, including us. When we seek within the answers to our questions, we find residing there an illimitable God of unconditional love–A God without bounds of such unconditional love, who is a far cry from being judgmental–“Love is not love when it alteration finds”.
God so loved us, the Bible tells us, that we are all created in God’s image. What does that mean to say that we are created in God’s image? It means, like God, we have at our disposal the tools to create the realities we choose to experience everyday. Whether we realize it or not, individually and collectively, we receive that for whichever it is we are asking, that for whichever it is we are desiring, that for whichever it is we are focusing upon, whether consciously or asleep. God in love created a benevolent universe so grand that “That which we ask for, we are given;” and “That which we seek, we shall find.” These are the universal truths in alignment with both the teaching of the Bible and CWG and these guide the creation of our experience in every moment.
All we need is gratitude and faith the size of a mustard seed to know and experience who we really are. Who we really are is in Unity with God and Christ. Isn’t this, afterall, the true message and purpose of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ? Many fundamentalists can accept Jesus as a noun, an anointed one who having existed in the past tense, died for our sins, and now exists somewhere in the sky waiting to return. But not nearly as many are willing to embrace the true teaching of the Bible which calls us to accept Jesus, more as a verb. When Jesus the fisherman said, “Come follow me,” he didn’t mean come literally follow me down the street. He meant figuratively follow my Way. When Jesus said, “Come follow me. I am the Way,” he called us to the action of imitate Jesus’ Way, to create within the framework of our own lives, a divine state of being, an awareness achieved through faith alone which exists in the present tense right here, right now. When Jesus said, “Come follow me. I am the Way,” he meant, “Do what I do. Become one as me. Through your faith in me, you will come to know and believe in your own divinity. For I and the Father are One. You and I are One.” The reason that noone can get to the father but through the Way of Jesus is because Jesus is One with the father. And, Jesus said so are we. This WAS Jesus’ message and this was the significance of his death. This is why Jesus said of his miracles, “these things I can do, you can do also and more.”
When asked, what commandment was the most important, Jesus said to Love God with all your heart and then he said to Love each other as you would yourself. (Love each other as you would yourself, and as you would God for each of you are God) To truly follow Jesus’ Way then is to not judge each other or condemn another for being “right or wrong” but to follow the path of faith in knowing and experiencing our own divinity within and our own Oneness with God and with each other.
The Way of Jesus is alive and now here. Always near us is God. Always with us speaking in every single moment of every single minute of every single hour of every single day is God. There is never a moment when God is separated from us; there never is a time when God is not experiencing God in us, as us, through us. We are together Now and forever, for it simply is not possible to ever be apart from God. God is us.
God so loved us that we were made in God’s image and granted free will to create whatever reality we imagine. What kind of God have we been imagining that has led to so many wars with so much bloodshed under the guise of being fought in God’s name, or as Palin would have it, under God’s will?
One has to ask, “For how long on earth must we endure the hell of our own imaginings, the hell of an angry and vengeful God of Separation?” We can only stop experiencing hell when we start imagining heaven–the heaven of a God in Unity with us–the heaven of a God who is One with each of us, as we are One each with each other.”

Cynthia – stealing a famous Neale question – “What does God want” – I believe – God wants what each one of us wants from all our different perspectives.
So you and I – right now – doing exactly what GOD wants. Together.
My 2 cents on politics is not going to change anyone’s mind – but I write it anyway. Just a fun thing for me. I feel passionate about not wanting liberals to transform the USA into a socialist state – the way we have seen all over Europe etc..
However, I also hope that whoever wins this election – the other side
will get over it – and I will certainly be happy in life if Obama wins.
I have gained a respect for GW Bush – not because of his politics [I happen to think his social policies are just like most Democrats] – but because he has been attacked since the day he beat Al Gore and for 8 solid years.
For every positive news report or article on Bush or the War on Terror – there have been 1000 negative reports. His political enemies have been unrelenting in critizing the man – day in and day out – everyday for 8 years. The man can’t pick up a newspaper or turn on the TV without knowing that what he’s about to hear or read will pretty much be a negative if not highly critical piece.
So Cynthia – you stated how happy you were to see one day were Blue and Red take a shot at each other.
Well – if you FEEL that – [And I'm sure you do] – just imagine what it is like to have 8 consecutive years of the “other side” [media and liberals] attack you.
So I respect Bush not for his every move as President – but for being placed in the most awkward position imaginable.
I mean even at the height of Clinton’s affair story with a 20-year old intern – The media would periodically place good news about Bill on their shows or newspapers. And for Clinton – it was only the last 2 years of his presidency that he had to deal with being known as the 54 year old weird old man – hangin out with a 20 year old student.
I think as we look back on how Bush went “SLING BLADE” on Islamic terrorists – we will all realize that he was right for being so aggresive – and frankly not giving a rip what anyone thought.
The rest of world [except for Israel and a few others] pretty much has done ZERO – ZILCH to combat terror.
I think Bush was right to mow down as many Muslim radicals as we could find – and do whatever it takes [whether that was tap phones, freeze bank accounts, lock em up in Guantonimo or whatever].
That said – I don’t mind people who disagree. But these crackpots who want Bush brought on crimes are just goofs.
The next time Islamics hit the USA – what we saw from Bush will seem like childs play. We will have martial law [because of the possibly dirty bomb] and out military commanders will totally ignore everything liberals say. We will fly every plane we have in arsenal over every area on Earth with known Radical Muslims – and corner them all. They will be begging for us to stop. That is what our military will do next time.
So – you see – Bush really has been reasonable in his approach – and the libs have been insanely politcal.

When you embrace life you accept whatever it offers. When you accept God you embrace ways the God concept refreshes your soul’s quest. When you accept yourself you treasure what you are either wholly or in part.
We continually question the tragic but not the comic. Is it because laughing saves us from despair. Does not despair save us from the frivolous. Mostly we begin to see frivolity as a pain killer, despair as gut wrenching. We spend time questioning our pain, our hurts. We take for granted all our time spent in wellness and every day feelings of satisfaction. It is the lack of permanence that is our real question. The answer is change is our reality. If it were not for change, we would become static, dead in our tracks.

Bryan, you wrote: ” I feel passionate about not wanting liberals to transform the USA into a socialist state”
I feel equally passionate about not wanting conservatives to transform the USA into a police state, especially one dominated by fundametalist christians, which is what the republican side of the ticket has turned into in this election.
The thing to remember is, that with liberals, your freedoms most likely will not be curtailed. With conservatives, you will be required to toe THEIR party line and if you dont, well, history has given an abundance of examples of the ugliness that happens to those who do not passionately adopt the agendas of conservative christian fundamentalism power base.

Oh my God, Neale…was that YOU that I actually heard OPENLY PRAYING to God for the life situation that was occurring in Gulf?
Oh I am Praising OUR GOD and Thanking OUR GOD for whatever brought YOU, dear one, to feel such a feeling, to think such a thought and to take such an action! Praise God…in me, in you…in ALL!
In this moment, the STORM IS OVER! 3 weeks ago, I was in Houston (actually Katy, TX…20 miles from Houston) with my precious daughter and her family. This was to BE their first experience (and mine too!) with a hurricane! Needless to say, the NEWS, the MEDIA and everyone that I talked to, seemed hell-bent on CREATING THE BIGGEST FEAR IN ME. You see, I LOVE MY CHILDREN SO DEEPLY and the heart of the mother that is me…did (for just a moment) experience the FEAR. And in the NEXT MOMENT, I didn’t.
I prayed my heart out…
I imagine the BEST CASE SCENARIO. Jesus in the boat on the Sea of Galilee. The apostles were trembling in fear of the storm that was upon them. And JESUS took it UPON HIMSELF to CALM THAT STORM! Jesus, acting on the FAITH, HOPE and LOVE that He was, called upon the POWER AND GLORY OF OUR ALMIGHTY GOD to calm the storm.
THE STORM WAS CALMED…
In the moment that I “remembered” the story…my FEAR turned into LOVE. The storm within this humble, loving soul was GONE and I returned COMPLETELY TO LOVE!
Oh Neale, my children are safe…by the Grace and Goodness of God, there was NO HARM to them.
I am Praising GOD for ALL that is occurring. Again, our prayers continue to go out to those who do not YET know what we know, and who may be experiencing what seems like utter devestation. I feel the deepest Om Compassion and pray for those who are left in the darkness. I pray that the Light of God’s Love and God’s Comfort may be felt, even in the darkness…guiding them, leading them into the Light of a New Day!
God is always in CONTROL…and God always works on us and in us…for OUR HIGHER GOOD!
By the GRACE OF GOD, my children were spared devastation from the Storm. Yet, for just a few moments, I was led to imagine if they were NOT SPARED…how would come to terms with this inside of myself…a true believer in GOD?
I came to know that if, indeed, THEY DIED, they would go IMMEDIATELY into THEIR NEW EXISTENCE IN GOD’s NEVER-ENDING LOVE…which I have come know to be the ETERNAL TRUTH within me. Wow! This was a HUGE TEST OF MY FAITH…which led me to the DEEPEST PEACE I HAVE EVER KNOWN.
In conclusion, I continue TO PRAY because I am a PRAY-er! How wonderful to KNOW, in this moment, that YOU ARE TOO!
God’s Blessings be upon you and in you and in ALL of your loved ones and in ALL OF US!
In God’s Love & Peace,

What a totally scary way to live one’s life. Does this mean one can’t read other opinions about religion, or perhaps actually accept another religion, perhaps Wiccan, or Jewish or Muslim etc. because they don’t accept JC and his death and supposed sacrafice? That is a very close minded way to live…and I for one am glad I’m not trapped in it. Life worrying about what a divine being son’s death could mean for my eventual death would make for a most un-fun life….and one which seems to disrespect those beliefs of others. I do respect your outlook, I have no desire to try it again. Been there, done that, gave it up. Oh, to fear hell, one had to believe it exists. It doesn’t.
BTW, God had nothing to do with Ike.

dear no name (is there something we can call you… its seems so rude to me to call you that!)
When the love in your heart comes through, your words carry much more weight. But sometimes the words sound so heavy and harsh… like a weapon. Please consider that Jesus, as he suffered on the cross, did not lash out and condemn others nor call them names nor tell them they would pay for it in hell. He had compassion on those around him and said “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.”
Myself and others see things differently than you. Yet I (and others) respect your right to choose your own belief and path to God. Jesus’ greatest message was LOVE and 1 John says that Jesus’ followers will be known by that love. This is where sometimes the Christian message loses its credibility. In the delivery it is often completely devoid of Love and instead assumes a harsh, judgmental, mean-spirited, name-calling, ugly, threatening tone that condemns rather than forgives, that equates those who disagree with the devil… less than human. It becomes the same harmful message that caused the deaths and forced conversions in the past… although on a smaller, less physically dangerous scale… it is still harmful. Its not Jesus. Its not God. Its not Love. At some point you were just like the people who you point the finger at. You were no less human nor no less God’s creation than they are. God had no less LOVE for you then than now. I hope that you will consider that and Jesus’ example when you share your beliefs with others. There’s no need for the harshness.

About the use of the word INTOLERANCE in regards to beliefs here (Don & SheerLuck discussion)
According to Relgious Tolerance.org (an unbiased, multi-faith website dedicated to religious tolerance for all)
Religious Intolerance is the failure to respect “the fundamental right of other people to hold religious beliefs that are different from your own.” Religious TOLERANCE is: To extend religious freedom to people of all religious traditions, even though you may well disagree with their beliefs and/or practices. Having tolerance toward another religion does not require you to endorse that faith group’s beliefs; it simply indicates your respect for its right to exist and for its member to hold different beliefs without being oppressed.
The following actions are considered as exhibiting religious intolerance:
*Spreading misinformation about a group’s beliefs or practices even though the inaccuracy of that information could have been easily checked and corrected;
*Spreading hatred about an entire group; e.g. stating or implying that all members of a group are evil, behave immorally, commit criminal acts, etc.;
*Ridiculing and belittling an entire faith group for their sincerely held beliefs and practices;
*Attempting to force religious beliefs and practices on others against their will;
*Restricting human rights of members of an identifiable religious group;
*Devaluing other faiths as worthless or evil.
*Inhibiting the freedom of a person to change their religion.
I recommend a visit to religioustolerance.org its one of the best sources of unbiased information I have found. Blessings!

Yes, no name, we all make a choice in the end, and I made mine over 44 years ago and have never regreted it at all. Raised in a Christian home with loving parents, but always questioned what I was being taught. Married and raised 2 kids in a UU Church and they have found their own answers. Neither decided Christianity was for them. They are happy and so am I. Your God doesn’t do it for me. Am happy that it does it for you. IMO there is no hell waiting for me or anyone else who doesn’t follow what you believe.
As I might have mentioned, if there was a loving god, why would he/she allow things to happen that do? 9/11, deadly storms, babies dying of diseases, dictatorships, Hitler, etc. Just makes no sense.
Why would any of that be “God’s will?” Not my idea of someone to worship.
BTW, I have read the Bible, and that hasn’t convinced me of anything. It was written by men, humans, and has had parts put in and taken out and words changed…over centuries. How can any of those stories be accurate if they were to begin with. It was written to push an agenda. It seems to have succeeded in convincing some folks of it’s “truth.” Will grant you that some of the Psalms are beautiful.

Have read enough of it (OT and NT) in my “Christian” days and after, with enough heard through other sources, including attending church, and 10 years teaching in a Catholic school, over my not so short life, to know that it is a great book of fiction, complete with rape, murder, sex, wars, love & hate, births & deaths (including JCs), women having babies at 100 years old, wives giving their husbands the right to sleep with a slave to have a kid, visions, angels, miracles etc., but truth? No. Every now and then it has some advice worth paying attention to. No Don, I’m no expert, but I’m no novice either.

No you’re not intolerant because you believe something you’re intolerant because you demonize other people and thier beliefs.
Intolerance has caused much misery and suffering on the planet. When the shoe is on the other foot it isn’t so comfortable. Intolerance caused the holocaust, the inquisition, etc…. what started off seemingly harmless enough became a reason. Acts of violence stem from that same seemlingly innocent verbal intolerance. And that’s on both sides. Its offensive and defensive. I think for the well-being of all its best that intolerance be given up for a better way of communicating one’s belief.

Hi Jean,
Thanks for the warm comment! I appreciate that very much. Thanks also for the heads up about the book. Yes, I can relate to the novel as I have experienced God’s healing powers firsthand and know God to be a very gentle, loving God, completely at odds with that angry, Jonathon Edwards’ type who is fond of dangling sinners like spiders above the firey pits of hell. The book sounds fascinating! I’ll have to check it out.

In my opinion, I think all of humanity has some blame in the current state of the world. Many people beleive its the devil’s handy work, but in reality I think its the lack of people caring about the earth that has got us here. Saying the devil did it is just taking away our responsibility in it.
We have taken, taken and taken from mother earth. We have used and abused her resources and continue to take and take and take. Of course this would have an impact on the environment. No one can say that global warming doesnt exist, its not a theory its a fact. And we humans caused it.
So now we have to take responsibility for the turmoil we have caused on this planet. We cant “sleep” anymore. I take “Ike” and “Katrina” as wake up calls. That this is only the beginning, if we dont stop and rethink how we take care of this planet then more is to come. Mother Earth can only give so much before she runs out of things to give.
God is not the one destroying the planet and neither is the devil. Its humans. The saddest part about all of this is we have the resources to survive without oil, gas, etc but we do it because its more profitable for the big dawgs. But I ask this—what good will money be if we have no planet on which to spend it?
We cant blame god or the devil for the current state of affairs, it is our lack of caring as a whole that has caused this planet to begin to decay. We are the ones killing this planet. We as humans chose to abuse the planet, but now we can choose to heal it.

Oh well, looks like I haven’t gotten that message yet. No surprise. That chance was there in my first 17 years and it didn’t take. And yes, I have 2 grown children, raised them in the UU church. They are beautiful, caring, loving adults, and not Christian either. All folks who are caring and loving aren’t Christian. Isn’t that interesting? Loving people come in all faiths, not just Christianity. There is no BEST religion. To each a choice for what is better for them.
IMO the use of a satanic creature for blame is a poor excuse for the horrible things humans do to each other. There is no creature causing problems…people do that without any help.

Dear no name,
And it could also be that truth is relative…
We look for absolutes in everything so that we can feel that we’ve gotten to the point where we’ve figured everything out so we have a sense of security. But I feel that its limiting God, life, creation, humanity, everything because we are afraid of not knowing.
Maybe we are both right? Either way, there’s no absolute way of proving it. So, we might as well love one another in our search.
I love you No name.

Dear no name (will you be the same person than Michelle?)
You asked:
“Was Jesus a madman or the Son of God come to save those who believe and accept him as such? There is no other option (as CS Lewis put so well)”
I like this sentence because it shows very good the short-minded and simplistic that intolerance and fundamentalism is…
There are too many other options, Unnamed…
Ask the other 2000 denominations in christianity, that take it in other way…
(And actually, every other denomination in christianity claims to accept Jesus as the Son of God who came to save us, but in soooooo many different ways… After saying that theirs is the one and only real truth, every other is false and evil, and hell rewarded…)
You’ll see…
If the Bible is the ‘word of God’, that ‘holy spirit’ did a terrible job, because since the times of Paul, till now, nobody agrees in what is the real and only truth… Not even christians…
So, I’ll give you just one other option: nor Jesus was a madman, nor he is this sectarian, exclusivist, and intolerant guy you say…
The ‘madmen’ were those who twisted much of his words, added others, cut others, and reinterpreted them at his own manner, for his own interests…
Other madmen, , judged, condemned, excluded, tortured, vilified, dismissed, killed, murdered, invaded countries, started wars, and committed genocide, because they assumed that God and Jesus wanted it so, according to what they understood about the words that others twisted, and those that they twisted themselves…
If you want to implicate and beliefe that 95% of the world will go to everlasting hell, ok… believe it…
That makes Jesus an absolute failure, Satan a winner, and God the most awful, criminal, sadistic, and cruel being of all times…
But ok, it’s up to you…
But don’t blame others for not loving, wanting, or accepting this “lesser God”…
Blessings

I said God was talking to Gods people. Your ability to change words and create a lie is astounding

Wouldn’t the world be a better place if intelligent people did not waste so much time, effort and resources to prove whether GOD exists or not. Since the existence of GOD has no basis in objective, evidentiary proof, all believers can do is “believe”. That is fine with me. What bothers me is that these believers could devote more of their valuable contributions to helping mankind deal with practical, real problems, rather than trying to convince the rest of us that GOD is no different than the Tooth Fairy.

If you can’t or don’t want to understand simple things like the fact that Neale loves Jesus, or that CWG speaks thoroughly about him, I don’t expect you take the work to understand the Hitler issue…
So, go on… Keep trying…
But know that by twisting words and meanings, you only discredit yourself even more…
But no matter,

I think my Post earlier today bears fruit. Look at all of the time you are wasting trying to convince us of God and all of the other implausible “facts” espoused by religions. If you simply understand Darwin and evolution, you will realize that “man” is no more special than any other living thing. We are simply burdened by the fact that our large brains enable us, unlike any other creature, to ponder these questions and ponder where we came from. And, unlike other creatures, we can use science and education to make “sense” out of the world around us. But, unfortunately, many believers would seek to deprive us of the fruits of education—-but, for the Church and its oppression of science, we probably would have discovered the Internet 400 years ago!!!
I really feel bad for the “believers” in that they have to twist, distort, make rationalizations for everything that so starkly contradicts their long held beliefs. We are animals; nothing more, and nothing less. All of this talk of the “holy books” is really, really pointless as they were written by humans who thought that the world was flat and had no understanding of the world around them.

Yes, Jeff, no-name has done alot of trying to convince folks that there really is a Tooth Fairy, oops, I mean a “god”. So far, hasn’t worked for me, but others have tried and failed to convince me that a dude with a white beard, sitting in a huge chair is “watching over me.”

The subject of the thread is ‘IS IKE GOD’S WILL?’
(1) Why do things happen the way they happen?
Because everything has a cause. Sometimes the cause is random. Sometimes the cause is intended. If you are a theist, sometimes the intended cause is God. If you are not a theist, the cause is either natural or the cause is the human beings.
If you are talking about
(2) Can God change the things that are happening, at Will?
If God is omnipotent yes. God [u]can[/u] change natural events. like earthquakes and hurricane Ike. But as far as human events, like war, God is restricted by the Prime Directive aka Freewill.
(3) If God can perform a ‘miracle’ and change what is happening, why did God bother to make it happen to begin with?
Because it was God’s Will to either make it happen or allow it to happen. God didn’t perform a miracle because God didn’t want to, it was part of God’s Plan.
(4) What is going on here, on the Earth, and what role, if any, do human beings play in the events that occur in our individual and collective lives?
We play a limited role in our collective lives, and more of a role in our individual lives.
Are certain things simply “non-causal”?
No.
In other words, is it possible that certain things happen that are caused by neither God nor man?
If you are a Deist, then there are natural causes for natural events that are not caused by neither God or humans.
If you are a theist then either God caused them to happen our allowed them to happen.
“Shall we call these things, simply, “fate”?
Fate is something that is already preordained. Something that is unavoidable. For something to be preordained there has to be a preordainer. We could call it randomity.
“Or is there really a Third Party involved in all of this…the Devil?’
If God gave the Devil the power and the ability to make Ike happen, and allowed the Devil to make it happen then it [b]is[/b] a possiblity.

The airplane example is ridiculous. I fly on airplane because, empirically, there are very little odds of a crash. 90% of the decisions that are made each day, are not made on faith, but rather on the basis of objective reality and experience. No matter how much, or how hard, you “believe”, this does not add one iota of evidence that God exists. Don’t you think Scientists would be very interested in knowing whether there was a grand creator? of course they would. In my humble opinion, the odds are million times greater that Big Foor and the Lochness monster exist. I really feel bad for people who just can’t accept that there is no real explanation of why we are here. Why do they have to make silly things up? I guess that is because are brains are still evolving.

Is there a God, and if so, what does he cause (ordain) and what does he allow (permissive will.?) Does He/She cause hurricanes or allow hurricanes, and if so why? Legitimate questions without clearly definitive answers. Speculations clamor incessantly in search of conclusions.
In my Agnostic Period I was prone to say, “I just can’t believe in a God who would ______________.” Fill in you own answer; mine was usually along the lines of “let children starve in Africa, etc.” Fortunately for me, God new that I could not be reached intellectually, so He personally intervened in my reality in 1973. I had no doubt at the time who it was nor the validity of His/Her message to me…..”You are completely and absolutely loved and unconditionally acceptable to Me just as you are.” The message was communicated to me both cognitively and emotionally at the same instance. Soon thereafter I heard, “It’s a good thing my existence did not depend on your believing in me, isn’t it, Howard.”
[A man was heard to say, "I just don't believe in God!" To which his friend replied, "I'm sure He is going to be devastated when He hears that!"]
Shortly thereafter He/She said to me, “This has to be tested in order for you to know that it is real.” And tested it was! But, nothing could ultimately shake my conviction of the truth of my experience and its message.
Further, over 35 years since, my faith has been repeatedly tested, including several experiences known as “The Dark Night of the Soul” when everything possible occurred to destroy my faith in the message. At one point the test caused me to doubted everything I had come to believe with the one exception that nothing could convince me that it was not He/She that invaded my reality and communicated the message to me. That one event became my anchor, the foundation upon which the rest of me has been constructed.
I have come to learn that belief and value systems comprise our “internal constitution” out of which every thing we think and do issues; our internal constitution then can be said to be the substance from which our thoughts and actions originate, the foundation of all our being. Tell me what a person is spending time and money on and I can tell you much about their value and belief systems.
Belief is intellectual assent to a premise, faith is the action that results from our beliefs. It is not until we act that beliefs become faith. This is why the New Testament says, “Faith without works (action) is dead (doesn’t exist.)” Belief is cognitive, faith is action resulting from belief.
We are told in the Bible that “all are given a measure of faith,” some to get started with. This “measure of faith” is a gift, anything more must be developed as a muscle is developed from its origin by challenge, exercise, effort. The things that challenge our faith are invariably things that require us to use what we have. Some of us “bury our talents” while others exercise and develop them.
When we are experiencing a severe test, trial, devastation or tragedy it is time to remember that God has the opinion of us that we are sufficient to handle it, and by giving thanks for it we grow stronger and stronger, eventually developing an Iron Faith, one repeatedly tested by fire. The only alternative is to wither under the test, falling into self-pity and doubt. If the test keep coming, seeming to be more than you can bare, give thanks He/She has such a high opinion of you and your highest eternal good squarely in His/Her sights.
Once we acknowledge, are connected to, and yield to that which we call God we fall under His/Her divine care. We are protected, directed and provided for in accordance with a divine plan developed to contribute to our long-range highest eternal good. Nothing can touch us that doesn’t contribute to that goal. Not until we have faith in that premise can we completely do as the New Testament requires, “Give thanks in all things for this is His will concerning you.” Believing this, more, placing faith in it, issues into our experience the senses of security, abundance, purpose and direction; doubting this leaves us anxious, lacking, and wondering about our purpose in life and the directions in which we should go.
It is an exercise in futility to debate what God ordains or allows, and whether that confirms or denies His/Her sovereignty and omnipotence. It is better to understand that nothing happens He/She doesn’t allow, and if it is allowed has some over-arching, ultimate, eternal good purpose even if it appears to us as devastation and tragedy. If He/She allows it, it is His/Her will. To speculate otherwise throws ones foundation into chaos.
CwG has led me to reexamine many of my beliefs, but it has only contributed to strengthening this core belief.

Well, Howard, I guess that pretty much covers your ideas on the question of a god’s existence. If I was prone to being convinced, your post might done so. However, Ike was a storm, caused by the right weather conditions…and nothing else, IMO. I agree, it is an exercise in futility to debate what God ordains , because there really isn’t proof that that god “IS.”

His/Her? He/She? what?! God is Jesus, Jesus is God! There is no way around it. He is the King of Kings and the only True God. His purposes and will for this earth and all of creation have always been the same, since the beginning and until the end, the bible tells it all, as from cover to cover you see the scarlet thread of redemption in JESUS. but this is a fallen world and disease and destruction and horrible things happen. Not that God is too weak and says “oh its a fallen world i cant do anything to help it” NOR does he say “I’m going to fix everything and make it magically go away”. His arm is not too short to help, change, transform or completely remove any obstacle on this earth, but at the same time (like in the book of Job in the bible) he uses what satan intends for brokenness, horror, destruction etc etc for the glory of Jesus. That is just what he does, he uses the weakness and brokenness of fallen humanity and sin and sinners to show His glory and his transformation power to those who call on the name of the one true God; JESUS. How often do we cry out to ‘God’ whoever we think that to be when something goes wrong? “OH GOD HELP ME!” God knows our weakness and he knows that in brokenness we search for him. But too often we throw him out the window when things ‘look’ better and go on with our lives, completely ignoring Jesus, the bible, and his calling our name in our hearts and at every turn. Then again we blame him for disaster and say WHERE ARE YOU!? You either live in complete surrender to a good, righteous, holy, and loving God, following his ways, or you walk away from him. You can’t ride the fence. And should you surrender, which is the best decision I ever made, you understand through trials to trust in his wisdom and purposes and that romans 8:28 says “28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him,[a] who[b] have been called according to his purpose.” see, you have peace and security and joy, through whatever could ever happen in your life, good or bad, because you know that our lord JESUS CHRIST is sovereign and in control. but that verse says for THOSE who love him and are CALLED according to HIS PURPOSE. that means surrender, lay your life at the feel of one who is Higher than us and in submission find peace for your souls.

The concept of God as “Punisher” is common throughout many religions, modern and primitive. Mankind has always sought answers to difficult questions, and often looked to the environment for signs and clues, guidance for future, this is how science was born into the world. Today we know that the Earth is a planet and that almost every area on this planet is susceptible to some sort of natural disaster. It is in the nature of the planet/atmosphere/etc. If all the holiest people in the world had all been visiting New Orleans at the same time as hurricane Katrina it would not have stopped the hurricane from wreaking havoc. Earthquakes, tsunamis, tornados, blizzards, floods, droughts, and yes, hurricanes, do not target “the wicked”, they happen in areas of the planet that are prone to them. Our job in any disaster as citizens of this world and children of whatever God we profess to follow is not to point fingers of blame, but to assist in whatever way we can to help those in need. I also firmly believe that the endless debate of “My God’s better than your God” is a sign of spiritual immaturity and belongs on a playground rather than in a pulpit.
