Can you feel the energy of this morning’s New Moon in Libra? I’m pretty excited about it — not just because it’s a New Moon, but because it’s happening in the sign of partnerships and it’s supposed to be great energy for making new friends, working out the kinks in romantic relationships and starting fresh.
With Venus in Virgo and Mercury in Scorpio right now, too, I think things could get pretty intense this week. All this energy seems to be pointing to a need for more deep talks and increased intimacy, and that’s something I welcome in all of my relationships — but it’s not always easy.
Unfortunately for me I am dating a MAN, and they never seem to love those deep talks as much as most women do. Am I right? Fortunately at this point in my life I’m able to keep a sense of humor about it.
After X-many boyfriends and relationship talks over the years, I now just laugh at the way many men short-circuit after about 10 minutes of deep talking. They’ll grab their heads like they’re in pain, stare at the floor and say “I don’t know” like little kids, or get defensive and whiny.
I once dated a guy who would actually just close his eyes and fall silent if I tried to ask him about his pesky feelings. Like, did he think if he closed his eyes I wouldn’t be able to see him anymore? It’s laughable, but it was also sad and creepy. I mean, the guy was so emotionally shut down that he had to also shut his eyes to keep out the pain. Um, not to mention it was rude.
Do I sound bitter? Nah. I’m just fascinated by how common that behavior is. Maybe it’s just that most of the men I’ve dated seem to have a pretty low threshold for talking about anything too serious. Or maybe I’m a shrew!
That was a joke, I’m totally not.
Anyhow, I’m optimistic that this New Moon in Libra will help those of us who need to get deep to do so a little more easily. Even if they are men.
As for me, all is well on the relationship front, so I’m just going to watch a football game with my guy. I’m pretty sure the deepest thing we’re going to discuss is what pizza toppings to order.
