Charlotte Allen interviews Ann Coulter
I get guilty pleasure out of Ann Coulter most of the time, but in
this interview with Bnet editor Charlotte Allen, she really pours on the obnoxiousness. She seems to have decided ahead of time that Charlotte, a former editor of the conservative Catholic magazine Crisis, is a liberal, and decided that that gave her license to be as petty and vain toward her interviewer as she could be. Bad show. I'm sure this shtick sells books, but jeez...
"One thing though: I have no tolerance and less sympathy for anyone who forms opinions from the media." -- Franklin Evans.
(Bells ringing, choir singing, and applause here:)
MY POINT EXACTLY!!! Someone gets it!!! :-) THANK YOU!!!
That's my main problem with AC. People who lack access to alternative ideas (conservative, liberal or otherwise), or won't think for themselves in the first place (the more likely scenario) see her and her ilk and just become (yes) dittoheads, because our media (IMHO) encourages us into mindlessness. (I've always called CNN, Faux, etc. the Zen media because all they are is Essential Nothingness.)
So, it's all good. Glad you liked the other post, and I must get me a Curmedgeon's Guild card. Do I have to do anything mechanical, heavy lifting, chinups, run the 40?? (I'm not good at those) or can I just bitch about everything?? THAT I'm good at. :-)
Sorry about all the smilies. It even annoys me.>
I'd call it Existential Nothingness, but my leanings are towards taoism. ;)
The Curmudgeons Guild membership is involuntary, you've usually being paying your dues already for several years, and we have exactly one requirement: be nice to children. They usually see right through the facade anyway. 8)
The only annoying thing about the smileys here is the involuntary nature of them (like the off change of needing to have at the end of a parenthesized statement an 8)
Oops. ...an eight) that is.>
The reason I call media oulets Essential Nothingness is because they're Essentially About Nothing. Watch, read, listen for any amount of time and my point is made. :-)
And from what I read of your post, I must already be a member of the Curmudgeon Guild. (I should start a chapter here in my town.) :-) I am generally nice to children, (except for obnoxious brats, but that's the parents' fault more than the kids'), so any group where I don't have to do heavy lifting, exercise, or (God forbid) "network", I will proudly be a member of. :-)
Enjoy!!>
Sorry, I got cut off. My previous post is for Franklin Evans, re the Curmudgeon Guild.>
Pretty much kid stuff. If Ann ever finds out about Catholic Fundamentalism, check out catholicfundamentalism.com she'll really be dangerous.>
