RUMSFELD IS RESIGNING! CALLOOH! CALLAY! Hmm. Wasn't it just last week that The Decider said that Rumseld was going to stay on for two more years? What a difference a Tuesday in November can make. This was a long time coming....

I'm speechless, too.
Why today? It may have helped the GOP if he'd done this a month or two ago.>

They're getting him out of office before the investigations begin, or so when the investigations begin, the administration can point the finger of blame.
he'll be hung out to dry, then pardoned right before shrub leaves office.
Meahwhile, Rumsfeld's golden parachute of the massive profits he and others made off of this sham of a war will be waiting with open arms after the hullaballoo is over.>

The president looks very good in this press conference-- straightforward, honest about the setback, talking the bipartisan talk that we'd seen in 2000.>

Not quite speechless here in Northern Virginia, though I'm so happy for our country that I need to catch my breath. I agree that, had the GOP ousted Rumsfeld two months ago, this election may have yielded different results. It would have been far better yet for our nation had Bush not ceded his foreign policy judgment to Rumsfeld's camp at all... It is VERY difficult, as a Democrat and a Christian, to avoid gloating at Rumsfeld's resignation.>

I'm glad to read that Tom. I watched the press conference and felt he'd looked more human, more comfortable, and more in control than I've seen him in years.
I'll confess to enjoy forcing him to listen to pundits at unreasonable levels of volume for the rest of his life along with depriving him of running water and working electrical appliances.
But this time, for the first time, I liked him. I know Gawd will get me for that.
The thought-worry also crossed my mind about him charming the bejezzus out of Nancy. After all she said the first good faith thing he could do would be to fire Rummy. He fired Rummy. She's in trouble now.>

As he explains with a straight face why he lied about Rumsfeld leaving. "You're doing a heckuva job, Rummy.">
