sinsonte, his comments may not reflect on Orthodoxy, but they certainly shine a bright light on the dirty corners of Dreher's mind.

I'm fascinated because Anna Nicole was the epitome of a certain kind of American life: sex, drugs, fame, the fast life -- and the willingness to figuratively (or possibly literally) prostitute yourself to get it. Rod Dreherh Hmmmmm, I see her life as an example of cumulative ignorance of the generational variety. I see it being a lot less about her bad choices but more about the bad decisions made by her family historically. I know it would be nice to put her life into a bottle and threaten children with it if they misbehave. It wouldn't be fair to her and it sure as heck wouldn't be fair to the kiddos. I personally see her life as a great example of a teaching tool for parents. They can project what their own child will become if they give their child the same set of tools for handling life that Anna Nicole was given.

I thought Schadenfreude was joy at the misfortunes of one's enemies? So what did Anna Nicole ever do to you, Rod??? I think this is just so so sad. What a poor, confused, lost soul she was, may God be good to her. I really think she meant no one any harm, she just floundered around without direction in life. The one lodestar, her love for her son, who was taken from her. And her poor little baby, I hope they straighten out this mess and someone DECENT gets to raise her. Did anyone watch the comments of the judge regarding disposition of her earthly remains? Whew, how creepy was that? Aren't there any normal people involved in this fiasco? Really, Rod, I usually am sympathetic to you, but to say on the one hand to say that the culture is toxic and we need to stay away from it, and then on the other hand, to revel in this unfortunate creature's sad end....well, really!!!! Doesn't Great Lent start for you on Monday? Maybe you should work on this....

The views expressed in this blog are his own.
