Wow the onset of total apostasy has been stemmed! Wew, I thought that if those people had pinned a medal on that "Jezebel", Jesus was coming back tomorrow to strike them down with two lightning bolts in his hands. That would have been the end of it for Jesus. He would have had enough. Especially after so many Christians had supported the war. He would have been so fed up!

It would have been like wearing white socks with a tux, totally destructive to an image. And we have to have standards.

"It would have been like wearing white socks with a tux, totally destructive to an image...." Or like making the village idiot president... Oh! That's not a good metaphor is it, given present circumstances.
Poor guy. Well, there's always the Loyal Order of Raccoons.

I had racoons as pets when I was a child. Raccoons have far greater moral character than does Mr. McAuliffe and they should not be defamed by statements such as the one above.

I'm with Timbuktoo - I check out this blog every once in a while, and every time I do, I leave ready to be an athieist. If Rod and his approving commenters are what Christianity is all about, I'd rather be a pagan. You're reading Christ's message with a rigged decoder ring. You make it mean what you want it to mean.

I just picture a bunch of octegenarian euro-types wearing silly hats in some sort of Hogwarts-style dining hall and awarding each other medals. News flash-the Holy Roman Empire went belly up about 200 years ago, the Papal States fell about 145 years ago, and the Crusades have been over for oh, about 800 years. If Dan Brown needs you for a sequel, he'll call. Kim M

Kim M - Hardly the sort of respect to show an organization whose members for centuries died so that you wouldn't be required to wear a veil in public today.

The Knights of Malta runs relief efforts all over the world. We run hospitals, ambulances, etc, all over. The Maltese cross is one of the most recognizable symbols of succor and relief at emergency situations anywhere in the world. The Knights refer to the sick and the poor as "our Lords." We don't go in much for silly hats, sometimes berets (at the annual Lourdes Pilgrimage), kind of cool monks robes, too.

Praise the church, savior of the world...though I'd prefer to thank the millions of peasants that were used as cannon fodder all inspired by the "Holy" words of the church.

I'm not sure what you're getting at. I'm not very handsome, but my beard hides a lot. However, if any of the current KofC members are veterans of the Crusades, I would like to thank them personally. Kim M

Excellent news. I'd have thrown up otherwise.
My faith and hope restored...

(Completely off topic, but I can't find a better way to bring it up) Rod, have you seen the article in last week's NYT Magazine about how nutritionists are making Americans less healthy? Thought it would be right up your alley. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/28/magazine/28nutritionism.t.html?ex=1170738000&en=76c5ef1f915b36f6&ei=5070
