Watch this video of a soldier just home from the war surprising his five-year-old son by turning up in his kindergarten class, and the reaction of the little boy. Nothing any of us can say about it could possibly transcend...
Sniff . . . sniff . . . SOB!!! That was beautiful. What a memory the father gave his son with this surprise. I can already imagine the little boy, grown up, telling his children about the day their grandfather made that surprise entrance to his kindergarten class.

My fear watching this, which is so profoundly moving, is that this boy's father will be re-deployed despite having done his rotation. This was supposed to be 7 months out, then 2 years without being called again if at all. But anyone paying attention in life with a 'volunteer' military knows those promises and protocol went out the window long ago. This father may be called upon within weeks to return. And that too makes me cry.

We had a local version of this a couple years ago, and then the soldier ended up getting sent back for a second tour and being killed in action. I hope this one doesn't have the same ending.

If that doesn't bring a tear to your eye, you aren't human. May it be repeated several hundred thousand times, and soon. If Bush doesn't want to fight a war by loosening the ROE, there's no point. Call it victory, call it failed and noble, call it what ever. But at this point end it and bring them all home.

Check out some of the nasty comments left on YouTube. There are some real SOBs out there. No matter your position on the war, it is touching.

Just think! There are people who try to make a case for "a boy doesn't need a father...."

I hate war. I hate everything about war. Look at that childs face, when he saw his dad....and he's one of the lucky ones. To think that this war was all for nothing.. makes me furious.
