Russell Kirk weekend conference
If the weather cooperates, I'll be leaving later today for Indianapolis, where I'll be speaking at ISI's Saturday conference on "Russell Kirk and the Prospects for Conservatism." If you're a crunchy con or any other sort of traditionalist in the...
Blah. I'm in Bloomington, an hour south, and I had hoped to go to this, but there's a work event in which I have to participate AND I still can't drive anyway because of my *!@$# broken ankle. This lovely little enforced Lenten discipline is going to take me well into Pentecost. However, enough of the young people (which I guess includes me at 30) at the parish in Bloomington have read Crunchy Cons that I'm hopeful at some point we can try to bring you out to Indiana University for a talk. Maybe we could partner with the School of Journalism and the Religious Studies department and get both you and TMatt out here at some point, even. We'll see. Enjoy Indy. If you don't have church plans already, you could come down here to All Saints (hah!) or visit Ss. Constantine & Elena, a wonderful parish in the Romanian Episcopate of the OCA (that, despite being culturally Romanian, is largely made up of converts--go figure) and tell Fr. David Wey I sent you. You ought to sign up to speak at Hillsale College's CCA lecture series. God knows Hillsdale needs a good dose of crunchy with their conservativism. (BTW Are you familiar with Hillsdale?)
Hey Rod, think you can encourage ISI to have a future conference in Dallas?
Chicago isn't that far from Indy, but with 5 kids, finding a babysitter for that long just doesn't happen. If you manage to get closer to Chicago, give a heads up...we'd love to see you in person.
Rod - tornados in your area. How is your family??? Stay safe!
Blah indeed! You're one week too early. I'll be in Indianapolis next weekend!
I'm in Indy and wish I had known about this!! Every word of your book resonated with me. Glad to hear your family is well. We were just in North Texas last weekend (with the snow!)
