White House in Iraq freefall

Monday July 9, 2007

So says Novak. Excerpt:

National Security Adviser Stephen J. Hadley visited Capitol Hill just before Congress adjourned June 29 for the Fourth of July. Meetings with a half-dozen senior Republican senators were clearly intended to extinguish fires set by Sen. Richard Lugar's unexpected break from President Bush's Iraq policy. They failed.

Hadley called his expedition a "scouting trip," leading one senator to ask what he was seeking. It was not advice on how to escape from Iraq. Instead, Hadley appeared interested in how previous supporters had drifted from Bush's course. In the process, he planted seeds of concern. Some senators were left with the impression that the White House still does not recognize the scope of the Iraq dilemma. Worse yet, they see the president running out the clock until April, when a depleted U.S. military will be blamed for the fiasco.

If the military wants to extend force levels past April of next year, the military will have to again extend deployments in Iraq, this time to 18 months. It's crazy and unjust. (You want unjust? Think of what this soldier is facing.)

Poor Erik Botta, sorry for him.

What is interesting he growed up a patriot. That article said he is from the family of Argentinian naturalized in USA, as far as i know naturalization into a citizen of USA supposes saying an 'Oath of Renunciation' from previous motherland, so his parents were not big patriots if they didn't mind renouncing from one motherland for the better one. But they brought up son in the different way, that deserves applause.

>Poor Erik Botta, sorry for him.

If only so many people hadn't voted for the Commander in Chief who started the war he's being ground up in. I feel sorry for Erik Botta, but I don't feel responsible.

I don't feel sorry for Erik Botta, except that he is a willing tool in the efforts of mainstream media folks like Rod to defeat and weaken the US.
