Did Chauncey Bailey die for p.c.?

Monday August 6, 2007

Categories: Politics (general)
Christopher Hitchens thinks that Chauncey Bailey, the black Oakland newspaper editor died, allegedly at the hands of Black Muslim thugs who ran a cookie outlet called, ahem, "Your Black Muslim Bakery," because of the politically correct political establishment in that...

Sounds very similar to the "People's Temple" except that the cult leader in charge of that organization was a white man. If the local police are too cowardly to investigate, perhaps the FBI needs to get involved. I'm not sure if I would label PC the cause of this atrocity, but I would certainly call it cowardice.

You would think that the MSM would be rightly incensed over one of their own being murdered for doing noble investigative reportage.

But think again. Bailey gored the wrong ox.

How does a Black Panther thug like Charles Barron get elected to anything in NYC?

How do convicted tax cheat and racist rabble rouser Al Sharpton and shakedown artist Jesse Jackson become Democrat Party elders?

How does an American-hating nut like Dellums get elected?

How did Newark mayor Sharpe James skate to a fortune on the backs of NJ taxpayers?

How does noted anti-Semite Keith Ellison get elected to Congress?I wouldn't vote for Mormon Mitt Romney, but he is rightly and fairly asked to discuss his faith. But when does Keith Ellison get asked about beyond crazy NOI/Elijah Muhhammed's beliefs? The MSM is too scared to even ask.

All for the same reason as the Oakland debacle-there's a media double standard. If you change the color of any of the above and others like them, their careers are properly long over.

And Hitchens' article is fair to police. If they had gone in to the bakery with their guns out before the murder, all of the above would be calling them out-of-control racists and haters of Islam. They really get bashed either way. Dellums would have fired any cop who made that move by tht end of their tour.

The Black Muslims as a force are a practically invisible segment of the African-American community in most cities. Their heyday has long since passed and we give no more thought to them than we do with most any fringe group.

While this episode is tragic and the culprits seem to have been quickly caught these young men have no political influence or standing anywhere outside their own neighborhood.

Who?

How do convicted tax cheat and racist rabble rouser Al Sharpton and shakedown artist Jesse Jackson become Democrat Party elders?

What party posts do they hold exactly?

How does an American-hating nut like Dellums get elected?

Maybe because the citizens of Oakland don't think he hates America. Do you have some specific examples where he says "I hate America"?

How did Newark mayor Sharpe James skate to a fortune on the backs of NJ taxpayers?

I guess the same way Duke Cunningham did, assuming he has been convicted of something.

Keith Ellison is not a member of the Nation of Islam. He is a Muslim of the common variety. Quotes please on the anti-semitism?

And I am guessing the Kansas police were similarly inept reading Tim McVeigh's mind.

Duke Cunningham is rightly in jail. If Ted Stevens goes, so be it.If Vitter quits, most conservatives will lose no sleep. If a hack like Trent Lott says something stupid(an event you could set your watch by), he at some point should be forced to seek alternative employment. A crook's a crook is a crook. And if Bush is impeached for this imbecilic war, that's life.

Sharpton will host a "black issues" debate at some point. Both he and Jackson have all the Dems kiss their rings. On the night of John Kerry's nomination, he held both of their hands center stage of the convention.

Ellison was a member of the NOI for a very long time and has never disavowed them.

And as always, blame the cops.

Mr. Bottoms, you and others like you are part of the problem. And you don't even see it.

BTW, Howie Kurtz covered exactly that shock and outrage on his CNN media show Sunday Morning.

Since the perps have been rounded up there's no "drama" to the story. Evil deed done, evil guys caught. Next story please. Hardly a surprise in the cable news universe.

It's not even listed as a story on the Fox "News" web site.

Titusville police say they have arrested Florida State Rep. Robert “Bob” Allen, of Merrit Island, on second degree misdemeanor charges for solicitation for prostitution.

See your druggie, raise you one sex bust.

BTW, as a former journalist I take this incident quite seriously. I spent quite a lot of time covering the militia nuts back in the early nineties after I got out of the Army. That including pissing off both black and white militia leaders in my neck of the woods. I took my personal safety very seriously.

For you folks with long memories, the infamous G. Gordon Liddy comments about killing federal agents came to light because of moi. After Oklahoma City I was interviewed on all three major networks.

The last article I did was a few years ago about the White Supremacist busted in Tyler Texas with his own cyanide bomb and huge weapons cache.

I can't stand the politics of Keith Ellison and think he's a first rate moron on all matters of politics and policy. I've never heard a single thing come out of his mouth that made any sense and wasn't complete crap from start to finish. However, the racist smears and true islamaphobic crap that dominated the race for his seat in the house (I live outside the twin cities and had front row seats to this disgusting spectacle) made me pray fervantly before God that he be elected just so that the hate being hurled at him would not be shown to have majority support.
His links to the nation of islam are completely overblown and I never heard anyone actually come up with an example of his supposed anti-semitism. What I did hear was his opponent claiming that Ellison's faith was a reasonable target because Ellison's sort of people wanted to bring down america so we should be very careful about putting one of them into the inner working of our government. After watching the campaign I am forced to assume that people who continue casting him as suspect are at best woefully ignorant of the vile morass they are dipping their toes into or at worst bigots who should be run out of town on a rail. Funny, the only person I see in this discussion who hated America and took a stand against her principles was one time Marxist David Horowitz.

I live and work close to the scene of the crime. Many of my co-workers knew the victim. He was shot in the morning hours right in front of a local senior center and daycare/kindergarten (14th & Alice) in Oakland. It is also next to the post office. Outrageous.

Rod, I think there's a misunderstanding about the name Black Muslims. The store carries that name because they belong to the group of homegrown black american muslims and not traditional islam (sunni, shia) .Otherwise it would be The Oakland Sunni Bakery. I happen to think Black Muslims (usually Nation of Islam) are crazy and violence-prone but I see nothing wrong with the store name. No more than seeing Indian Sikhs Donut Hole Shoppe or even The White Aryan Used Armpit Joint. They belong to a group of white aryans as opposed to Iranian aryans. White American Used Armpit Joint or Black American Bakery would bother me.
