Goodnight, Daddy

Wednesday August 1, 2007

Categories: Family

Our niece, Hannah, who is 14, is staying with us this week. She said goodbye to her dad a couple of weeks ago, as he headed off to Iraq to do military service. Last night as she was going to bed on her first night here, we noticed that she took out a digital tape recorder, and listened to a recording of her father telling her goodnight, sleep tight. Brought a tear to our eyes, it did.

This is going to be a tough year for that sweet girl.

This is touching. What a sweet way for her dad to connect with her throughout the year.

Poignant.

If Dad was home, of course, she'd probably be in his face half the time. She's 14; it's her job.
