I'm really touched and encouraged by all the prayers and expressions of good wishes for our son Lucas and his medical difficulties of late. They remind me that we really are, in our own way, a community here on this blog. I can report that news was good from yesterday's procedures, with there being no visual evidence for the Big Bad Thing, though two caveats:
1) We won't know for sure until the biopsy results come back. 2) A negative result on testing for the Big Bad Thing still leaves us in the dark about what's causing his problems.
Still, we're hopeful, and Lucas is doing well. I got a kick out of him this morning. He's been listening to a lot -- a whole lot -- of Beatrix Potter stories on CD for the past month. I think you know your kid has been listening to too much Beatrix Potter when, upon telling him this morning that his brother Matthew wants him to come along on the birthday bowling outing this weekend, the three-year-old answers chirpily: "I welcome going bowling!"
I "welcome" going bowling? Jeez, that kid needs some Spider-Man comics or something.

Good news, I will continue to pray!
All my sons are/were obsessed with Thomas the Tank Engine. So instead of being angry, everyone is always said to be "very cross", they sometimes shout odd things like "bust my buffers!", and they sing with English accents. When my oldest was about 3 he could do a great English accent, between hearing so much of the Thomas tapes and watching BBC documentaries with my husband, hehe.
No sign of the Big Bad Thing is excellent news, and Lucas and the rest of the Dreher clan will certainly remain in my prayers.
And learning other dialects is a great thing for kids -- growing up on British sitcoms and Star Trek: TNG, I can do a London accent that fools most native Brits :)
Spidey! My childhood was very immersed in the world of Marvel Comics. Nice smile for the day.
Thanks Rod for keeping us posted, my continued prayers for diagnosis and recovery.
Excellent news.
More prayers coming your way.
Plenty of prayers have been with your family, Rod. And Spider-Man Adventures should be a great comic book for Lucas...I'm a Spidey fan myself.
