[Rod] Msgr. Fushek's cheesy second act

Friday November 23, 2007

Categories: Catholicism
Dale Fushek was a superstar Catholic priest who founded Life Teen, a parish ministry for youth. And then he ran afoul of the law, and got his teenful self indicted on sexual abuse of minors charges. Well, now Fushek is...

Faith as an exercise in individualism, therapy, and self-determination. That is what this act represents. The accusations aside, his attitude, at least in these quotes, seems somewhat narcissistic. Build up a monumental following, group, and personality cult within the Catholic Church--then just flippantly act as if one can cut those ties on a whim because the worship aesthetics don't quite suit one's fancy.

What parent would let their child within 10 feet of this.... Not wanting to be banned, use your imagination. I don't know what makes me angrier; that he's doing this, or that amyone has anything to do with him at all.

Don nailed it. Narcissistic. "-I- feel alive again." What clergyman with a brain in his head says that?

Rod, you homophobe, you.

But seriously, why is this thread under the "Catholicism" category? Why not "Homosexual predators" or "Phony priests." Fusheck is not now and probably never was a believer in Catholic doctrine. I doubt he was even a priest in God's eyes.

This is from their website:

8. Because of Rev. Dale's legal situation, will children under 18 be able to attend?

Rev. Dale has carefully adhered to the current requirement of the Justice Court of having no contact with individuals less than 18 years of age. The justice of the peace has allowed him to attend church and to visit other public places where children may be present.

Some things are beyond reason...this world is in need of continuous prayer.

Rod, you homophobe, you.

Homophobe?

Since when does being a pedophile have anything to do with homosexuality?

>Since when does being a pedophile have anything to do with homosexuality?

Dave: They were teenagers, not children. Therefore, if they were boys, it was homesexuality, not pedophilia. Got that?

First, I don't have a dog in this hunt. Although a Catholic in Phoenix, I have seen Fushek all of twice. I attend an othodox Novus Ordo parish and frequently atend the Latin Mass parish that we host. I frankly have deep reservations about the Life Teen style of worship. We must be careful to be charitable. Terturllian died apostate. Many men, once faithful, have made shipreck of their faith. I have known several very serious Christians discipled at St Timothy's. Souls have been saved under Fr Fushak's leadership. Now souls will be lost. Our enemy attacks where he may do the most damage. Pray that we may not enter into temptation. And let us pray for our prodigal brother Dale that he may return to the Father.

Thank you, Ann, but don't waste your time with them; they will only start quoting scripture to prove that St. Paul and even Jesus were homosexuals, etc.

And two hours long, to boot. Back in his Catholic days, Mass only allowed him to be in the spotlight for an hour at a time. Whatever happened to anonymous service to the Lord?

Bishop O'Brien's tenure in Phoenix is going to be giving us gifts like this for years to come, I think.
